The Mountain of the Lord

הַדָּבָר֙

had·dā·ḇār

The word

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

חָזָ֔ה

ḥā·zāh,

יְשַֽׁעְיָ֖הוּ

yə·ša‘·yā·hū

בֶּן־

ben-

אָמ֑וֹץ

’ā·mō·wṣ;

עַל־

‘al-

יְהוּדָ֖ה

yə·hū·ḏāh

. וִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

wî·rū·šā·lim.

and Jerusalem .

וְהָיָ֣ה ׀

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall come to pass

בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית

bə·’a·ḥă·rîṯ

､ הַיָּמִ֗ים

hay·yā·mîm,

the days ､

נָכ֨וֹן

nā·ḵō·wn

יִֽהְיֶ֜ה

yih·yeh

הַ֤ר

har

[That] the mountain

בֵּית־

bêṯ-

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

בְּרֹ֣אשׁ

bə·rōš

on the top

､ הֶהָרִ֔ים

he·hā·rîm,

of the mountains ､

וְנִשָּׂ֖א

wə·niś·śā

and shall be exalted

– מִגְּבָע֑וֹת

mig·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ;

above the hills –

וְנָהֲר֥וּ

wə·nā·hă·rū

אֵלָ֖יו

’ê·lāw

to it

כָּל־

kāl-

. הַגּוֹיִֽם׃

hag·gō·w·yim.

וְֽהָלְכ֞וּ

wə·hā·lə·ḵū

עַמִּ֣ים

‘am·mîm

רַבִּ֗ים

rab·bîm,

､ וְאָמְרוּ֙

wə·’ā·mə·rū

and say ､

לְכ֣וּ ׀

lə·ḵū

וְנַעֲלֶ֣ה

wə·na·‘ă·leh

and let us go up

אֶל־

’el-

to

הַר־

har-

יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

אֶל־

’el-

to

בֵּית֙

bêṯ

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

’ĕ·lō·hê

of the God

– יַעֲקֹ֔ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

of Jacob –

וְיֹרֵ֙נוּ֙

wə·yō·rê·nū

and He will teach us

､ מִדְּרָכָ֔יו

mid·də·rā·ḵāw,

וְנֵלְכָ֖ה

wə·nê·lə·ḵāh

and we shall walk

. בְּאֹרְחֹתָ֑יו

bə·’ō·rə·ḥō·ṯāw;

כִּ֤י

kî

מִצִּיּוֹן֙

miṣ·ṣî·yō·wn

תֵּצֵ֣א

tê·ṣê

､ תוֹרָ֔ה

ṯō·w·rāh,

the law ､

וּדְבַר־

ū·ḏə·ḇar-

and the word

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. מִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

mî·rū·šā·lim.

from Jerusalem .

וְשָׁפַט֙

wə·šā·p̄aṭ

And He shall judge

בֵּ֣ין

bên

､ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם

hag·gō·w·yim,

the nations ､

וְהוֹכִ֖יחַ

wə·hō·w·ḵî·aḥ

– לְעַמִּ֣ים

lə·‘am·mîm

רַבִּ֑ים

rab·bîm;

וְכִתְּת֨וּ

wə·ḵit·tə·ṯū

and they shall beat

חַרְבוֹתָ֜ם

ḥar·ḇō·w·ṯām

､ לְאִתִּ֗ים

lə·’it·tîm,

into plowshares ､

וַחֲנִיתֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙

wa·ḥă·nî·ṯō·w·ṯê·hem

and their spears

– לְמַזְמֵר֔וֹת

lə·maz·mê·rō·wṯ,

into pruning hooks –

לֹא־

lō-

not

יִשָּׂ֨א

yiś·śā

ג֤וֹי

ḡō·w

אֶל־

’el-

､ גּוֹי֙

gō·w

חֶ֔רֶב

ḥe·reḇ,

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

יִלְמְד֥וּ

yil·mə·ḏū

shall they learn

ע֖וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

. מִלְחָמָֽה׃

mil·ḥā·māh.

ya·‘ă·qōḇ;

of Jacob ､

לְכ֥וּ

וְנֵלְכָ֖ה

wə·nê·lə·ḵāh

and let us walk

בְּא֥וֹר

bə·’ō·wr

in the light

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

The Day of the Reckoning

כִּ֣י

kî

נָטַ֗שְׁתָּה

nā·ṭaš·tāh,

You have forsaken

עַמְּךָ֙

‘am·mə·ḵā

בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

､ יַעֲקֹ֔ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

of Jacob ､

כִּ֤י

kî

מָלְאוּ֙

mā·lə·’ū

they are filled

､ מִקֶּ֔דֶם

miq·qe·ḏem,

with eastern ways ､

וְעֹֽנְנִ֖ים

wə·‘ō·nə·nîm

and they [are] soothsayers

､ כַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים

kap·pə·liš·tîm;

like the Philistines ､

וּבְיַלְדֵ֥י

ū·ḇə·yal·ḏê

and with the sons

נָכְרִ֖ים

nā·ḵə·rîm

. יַשְׂפִּֽיקוּ׃

yaś·pî·qū.

they are pleased .

וַתִּמָּלֵ֤א

wat·tim·mā·lê

And is full

אַרְצוֹ֙

’ar·ṣōw

כֶּ֣סֶף

ke·sep̄

､ וְזָהָ֔ב

wə·zā·hāḇ,

and gold ､

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and there is no

קֵ֖צֶה

qê·ṣeh

– לְאֹצְרֹתָ֑יו

lə·’ō·ṣə·rō·ṯāw;

to their treasures –

וַתִּמָּלֵ֤א

wat·tim·mā·lê

and is full

אַרְצוֹ֙

’ar·ṣōw

､ סוּסִ֔ים

sū·sîm,

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and there is no

קֵ֖צֶה

qê·ṣeh

. לְמַרְכְּבֹתָֽיו׃

lə·mar·kə·ḇō·ṯāw.

to their chariots .

וַתִּמָּלֵ֥א

wat·tim·mā·lê

And is full

אַרְצ֖וֹ

’ar·ṣōw

– אֱלִילִ֑ים

’ĕ·lî·lîm;

לְמַעֲשֵׂ֤ה

lə·ma·‘ă·śêh

the work

､ יָדָיו֙

yā·ḏāw

of their own hands ､

יִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֔וּ

yiš·ta·ḥă·wū,

לַאֲשֶׁ֥ר

la·’ă·šer

עָשׂ֖וּ

‘ā·śū

. אֶצְבְּעֹתָֽיו׃

’eṣ·bə·‘ō·ṯāw.

their own fingers .

､ וַיִּשַּׁ֥ח

way·yiš·šaḥ

And bow down ､

אָדָ֖ם

’ā·ḏām

וַיִּשְׁפַּל־

way·yiš·pal-

and humbles himself

אִ֑ישׁ

’îš;

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

תִּשָּׂ֖א

tiś·śā

. לָהֶֽם׃

lā·hem.

בּ֣וֹא

bō·w

､ בַצּ֔וּר

ḇaṣ·ṣūr,

into the rock ､

וְהִטָּמֵ֖ן

wə·hiṭ·ṭā·mên

and hide

､ בֶּֽעָפָ֑ר

be·‘ā·p̄ār;

in the dust ､

מִפְּנֵי֙

mip·pə·nê

פַּ֣חַד

pa·ḥaḏ

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh ､

וּמֵהֲדַ֖ר

ū·mê·hă·ḏar

and the glory

. גְּאֹנֽוֹ׃

gə·’ō·nōw.

of His majesty .

עֵינֵ֞י

‘ê·nê

גַּבְה֤וּת

gaḇ·hūṯ

אָדָם֙

’ā·ḏām

､ שָׁפֵ֔ל

šā·p̄êl,

shall be humbled ､

､ וְשַׁ֖ח

wə·šaḥ

and shall be bowed down ､

ר֣וּם

rūm

the haughtiness

אֲנָשִׁ֑ים

’ă·nā·šîm;

of men

וְנִשְׂגַּ֧ב

wə·niś·gaḇ

and shall be exalted

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

לְבַדּ֖וֹ

lə·ḇad·dōw

בַּיּ֥וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day

. הַהֽוּא׃

ha·hū.

לַיהוָ֧ה

צְבָא֛וֹת

‘al

[Shall come] upon

כָּל־

kāl-

גֵּאֶ֖ה

gê·’eh

､ וָרָ֑ם

wā·rām;

and lofty ､

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

and Upon

כָּל־

kāl-

– נִשָּׂ֥א

niś·śā

lifted up –

. וְשָׁפֵֽל׃

wə·šā·p̄êl.

and it shall be [brought] low .

וְעַל֙

wə·‘al

And Upon

כָּל־

kāl-

אַרְזֵ֣י

’ar·zê

､ הַלְּבָנ֔וֹן

hal·lə·ḇā·nō·wn,

of Lebanon ､

הָרָמִ֖ים

hā·rā·mîm

[that are] high

､ וְהַנִּשָּׂאִ֑ים

wə·han·niś·śā·’îm;

and lifted up ､

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

and upon

כָּל־

kāl-

אַלּוֹנֵ֥י

’al·lō·w·nê

the oaks

､ הַבָּשָֽׁן׃

hab·bā·šān.

of Bashan ､

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

and Upon

כָּל־

kāl-

､ הֶהָרִ֣ים

he·hā·rîm

the mountains ､

הָרָמִ֑ים

hā·rā·mîm;

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

and upon

כָּל־

kāl-

הַגְּבָע֥וֹת

hag·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ

､ הַנִּשָּׂאֽוֹת׃

han·niś·śā·’ō·wṯ.

[that are] lifted up ､

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

and Upon

כָּל־

kāl-

､ מִגְדָּ֣ל

miḡ·dāl

גָּבֹ֑הַ‪‬

gā·ḇō·ha;

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

and upon

כָּל־

kāl-

､ חוֹמָ֥ה

ḥō·w·māh

wall ､

. בְצוּרָֽה׃

ḇə·ṣū·rāh.

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

And Upon

כָּל־

kāl-

אֳנִיּ֣וֹת

’o·nî·yō·wṯ

､ תַּרְשִׁ֑ישׁ

tar·šîš;

of Tarshish ､

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

and upon

כָּל־

kāl-

שְׂכִיּ֥וֹת

śə·ḵî·yō·wṯ

. הַחֶמְדָּֽה׃

ha·ḥem·dāh.

the beautiful .

､ וְשַׁח֙

wə·šaḥ

And shall be bowed down ､

גַּבְה֣וּת

gaḇ·hūṯ

הָאָדָ֔ם

hā·’ā·ḏām,

of man

– וְשָׁפֵ֖ל

wə·šā·p̄êl

and shall be brought low –

ר֣וּם

rūm

the haughtiness

אֲנָשִׁ֑ים

’ă·nā·šîm;

of men

וְנִשְׂגַּ֧ב

wə·niś·gaḇ

and will be exalted

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

לְבַדּ֖וֹ

lə·ḇad·dōw

בַּיּ֥וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day

. הַהֽוּא׃

ha·hū.

וְהָאֱלִילִ֖ים

wə·hā·’ĕ·lî·lîm

But the idols

כָּלִ֥יל

kā·lîl

. יַחֲלֹֽף׃

ya·ḥă·lōp̄.

He shall abolish .

וּבָ֙אוּ֙

ū·ḇā·’ū

And they shall go

בִּמְעָר֣וֹת

bim·‘ā·rō·wṯ

､ צֻרִ֔ים

ṣu·rîm,

of the rocks ､

וּבִמְחִלּ֖וֹת

ū·ḇim·ḥil·lō·wṯ

and into the caves

､ עָפָ֑ר

‘ā·p̄ār;

of the earth ､

מִפְּנֵ֞י

mip·pə·nê

פַּ֤חַד

pa·ḥaḏ

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

וּמֵהֲדַ֣ר

ū·mê·hă·ḏar

and the glory

､ גְּאוֹנ֔וֹ

gə·’ō·w·nōw,

of His majesty ､

בְּקוּמ֖וֹ

bə·qū·mōw

לַעֲרֹ֥ץ

la·‘ă·rōṣ

to shake mightily

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

בַּיּ֤וֹם

bay·yō·wm

In day

הַהוּא֙

ha·hū

יַשְׁלִ֣יךְ

yaš·lîḵ

הָאָדָ֔ם

hā·’ā·ḏām,

אֵ֚ת

’êṯ

-

אֱלִילֵ֣י

’ĕ·lî·lê

､ כַסְפּ֔וֹ

ḵas·pōw,

of his silver ､

וְאֵ֖ת

wə·’êṯ

and

אֱלִילֵ֣י

’ĕ·lî·lê

､ זְהָב֑וֹ

zə·hā·ḇōw;

of his gold ､

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

עָֽשׂוּ־

‘ā·śū-

they made [each]

לוֹ֙

lōw

､ לְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֔ת

lə·hiš·ta·ḥă·wōṯ,

to worship ､

לַחְפֹּ֥ר

laḥ·pōr

to

פֵּר֖וֹת

pê·rō·wṯ

– וְלָעֲטַלֵּפִֽים׃

wə·lā·‘ă·ṭal·lê·p̄îm.

and bats –

לָבוֹא֙

lā·ḇō·w

to go

בְּנִקְר֣וֹת

bə·niq·rō·wṯ

into the clefts

､ הַצֻּרִ֔ים

haṣ·ṣu·rîm,

of the rocks ､

וּבִסְעִפֵ֖י

ū·ḇis·‘i·p̄ê

and into the crags

､ הַסְּלָעִ֑ים

has·sə·lā·‘îm;

of the [rugged] rocks ､

מִפְּנֵ֞י

mip·pə·nê

פַּ֤חַד

pa·ḥaḏ

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

וּמֵהֲדַ֣ר

ū·mê·hă·ḏar

and the glory

､ גְּאוֹנ֔וֹ

gə·’ō·w·nōw,

of His majesty ､

בְּקוּמ֖וֹ

bə·qū·mōw

לַעֲרֹ֥ץ

la·‘ă·rōṣ

to shake mightily

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

the earth .

חִדְל֤וּ

ḥiḏ·lū

לָכֶם֙

lā·ḵem

מִן־

､ הָ֣אָדָ֔ם

hā·’ā·ḏām,

a man ､

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

נְשָׁמָ֖ה

nə·šā·māh

– בְּאַפּ֑וֹ

bə·’ap·pōw;

in his nostrils –

כִּֽי־

kî-

בַמֶּ֥ה

ḇam·meh

נֶחְשָׁ֖ב

neḥ·šāḇ

. הֽוּא׃
