Song of Praise for God's Favor

､ יְהוָ֤ה

Yah·weh

– אֱלֹהַי֙

’ĕ·lō·hay

my God –

אַתָּ֔ה

’at·tāh,

אֲרֽוֹמִמְךָ֙

’ă·rō·w·mim·ḵā

I will exalt You

אוֹדֶ֣ה

’ō·w·ḏeh

I will praise

– שִׁמְךָ֔

šim·ḵā,

כִּ֥י

kî

עָשִׂ֖יתָ

‘ā·śî·ṯā

פֶּ֑לֶא

pe·le;

wonderful [things]

עֵצ֥וֹת

‘ê·ṣō·wṯ

[Your] counsels

מֵֽרָח֖וֹק

mê·rā·ḥō·wq

of old

אֱמ֥וּנָה

’ĕ·mū·nāh

[are] faithfulness

. אֹֽמֶן׃

’ō·men.

[and] truth .

כִּ֣י

kî

שַׂ֤מְתָּ

śam·tā

מֵעִיר֙

mê·‘îr

– לַגָּ֔ל

lag·gāl,

a ruin –

קִרְיָ֥ה

qir·yāh

בְצוּרָ֖ה

ḇə·ṣū·rāh

– לְמַפֵּלָ֑ה

lə·map·pê·lāh;

a ruin –

אַרְמ֤וֹן

’ar·mō·wn

זָרִים֙

zā·rîm

– מֵעִ֔יר

mê·‘îr,

to be a city no more –

לְעוֹלָ֖ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām

לֹ֥א

lō

. יִבָּנֶֽה׃

yib·bā·neh.

it will be rebuilt .

עַל־

‘al-

כֵּ֖ן

kên

יְכַבְּד֣וּךָ

yə·ḵab·bə·ḏū·ḵā

will glorify You

עַם־

‘am-

עָ֑ז

‘āz;

קִרְיַ֛ת

qir·yaṯ

the city

גּוֹיִ֥ם

gō·w·yim

of the nations

עָרִיצִ֖ים

‘ā·rî·ṣîm

. יִירָאֽוּךָ׃

yî·rā·’ū·ḵā.

will fear You .

כִּֽי־

kî-

הָיִ֨יתָ

hā·yî·ṯā

מָע֥וֹז

mā·‘ō·wz

､ לַדָּ֛ל

lad·dāl

to the poor ､

מָע֥וֹז

mā·‘ō·wz

לָאֶבְי֖וֹן

lā·’eḇ·yō·wn

to the needy

､ בַּצַּר־

baṣ·ṣar-

in his distress ､

ל֑וֹ

lōw;

to

מַחְסֶ֤ה

maḥ·seh

､ מִזֶּ֙רֶם֙

miz·ze·rem

from the storm ､

צֵ֣ל

ṣêl

､ מֵחֹ֔רֶב

mê·ḥō·reḇ,

from the heat ､

כִּ֛י

kî

ר֥וּחַ

rū·aḥ

עָרִיצִ֖ים

‘ā·rî·ṣîm

of the terrible ones

כְּזֶ֥רֶם

kə·ze·rem

[is] as a storm

. קִֽיר׃

qîr.

[against] the wall .

כְּחֹ֣רֶב

kə·ḥō·reḇ

– בְּצָי֔וֹן

bə·ṣā·yō·wn,

in a dry place –

שְׁא֥וֹן

šə·’ō·wn

､ זָרִ֖ים

zā·rîm

of aliens ､

תַּכְנִ֑יעַ

taḵ·nî·a‘;

You will reduce

חֹ֚רֶב

ḥō·reḇ

[As] heat

בְּצֵ֣ל

bə·ṣêl

in the shadow

､ עָ֔ב

‘āḇ,

of a cloud ､

זְמִ֥יר

zə·mîr

the song

עָֽרִיצִ֖ים

‘ā·rî·ṣîm

of the terrible ones

. יַעֲנֶֽה׃

ya·‘ă·neh.

will be diminished .

And will make

יְהוָ֨ה

Yah·weh

צְבָא֜וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ

לְכָל־

lə·ḵāl

הָֽעַמִּים֙

hā·‘am·mîm

בָּהָ֣ר

bā·hār

הַזֶּ֔ה

haz·zeh,

מִשְׁתֵּ֥ה

miš·têh

､ שְׁמָנִ֖ים

šə·mā·nîm

of choice pieces ､

מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה

miš·têh

､ שְׁמָרִ֑ים

šə·mā·rîm;

of wines on the lees ､

שְׁמָנִים֙

šə·mā·nîm

､ מְמֻ֣חָיִ֔ם

mə·mu·ḥā·yim,

full of marrow ､

שְׁמָרִ֖ים

šə·mā·rîm

of wines on the lees

. מְזֻקָּקִֽים׃

mə·zuq·qā·qîm.

וּבִלַּע֙

ū·ḇil·la‘

And He will destroy

בָּהָ֣ר

bā·hār

הַזֶּ֔ה

haz·zeh,

פְּנֵֽי־

pə·nê-

הַלּ֥וֹט ׀

hal·lō·wṭ

of the covering

הַלּ֖וֹט

hal·lō·wṭ

עַל־

‘al-

כָּל־

kāl-

､ הָֽעַמִּ֑ים

hā·‘am·mîm;

וְהַמַּסֵּכָ֥ה

wə·ham·mas·sê·ḵāh

and the veil

הַנְּסוּכָ֖ה

han·nə·sū·ḵāh

עַל־

‘al-

כָּל־

kāl-

. הַגּוֹיִֽם׃

hag·gō·w·yim.

בִּלַּ֤ע

bil·la‘

He will swallow up

הַמָּ֙וֶת֙

ham·mā·weṯ

– לָנֶ֔צַח

lā·ne·ṣaḥ,

וּמָחָ֨ה

ū·mā·ḥāh

and will wipe away

אֲדֹנָ֧י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

יְהוִ֛ה

Yah·weh

דִּמְעָ֖ה

dim·‘āh

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

כָּל־

kāl-

– פָּנִ֑ים

pā·nîm;

וְחֶרְפַּ֣ת

wə·ḥer·paṯ

and the rebuke

עַמּ֗וֹ

‘am·mōw,

יָסִיר֙

yā·sîr

He will take away

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

כָּל־

kāl-

– הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the earth –

כִּ֥י

kî

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. דִּבֵּֽר׃

dib·bêr.

וְאָמַר֙

wə·’ā·mar

And it will be said

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day ､

הַה֔וּא

ha·hū,

､ הִנֵּ֨ה

hin·nêh

– אֱלֹהֵ֥ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū

זֶ֛ה

zeh

this [is]

קִוִּ֥ינוּ

qiw·wî·nū

ל֖וֹ

lōw

וְיֽוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נוּ

wə·yō·wō·šî·‘ê·nū;

and He will save us

זֶ֤ה

zeh

this [is]

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

קִוִּ֣ינוּ

qiw·wî·nū

ל֔וֹ

lōw,

נָגִ֥ילָה

nā·ḡî·lāh

we will be glad

וְנִשְׂמְחָ֖ה

wə·niś·mə·ḥāh

. בִּישׁוּעָתֽוֹ׃

bî·šū·‘ā·ṯōw.

in His salvation .

כִּֽי־

kî-

､ תָנ֥וּחַ

ṯā·nū·aḥ

will rest ､

יַד־

yaḏ-

the hand

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

בָּהָ֣ר

bā·hār

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

וְנָ֤דוֹשׁ

wə·nā·ḏō·wōš

and shall be trampled down

מוֹאָב֙

mō·w·’āḇ

תַּחְתָּ֔יו

taḥ·tāw,

כְּהִדּ֥וּשׁ

kə·hid·dūš

as is trampled down

מַתְבֵּ֖ן

maṯ·bên

[במי]

bə·mê

-

(בְּמ֥וֹ)

bə·mōw

in the water

. מַדְמֵנָֽה׃

maḏ·mê·nāh.

for the refuse heap .

וּפֵרַ֤שׂ

ū·p̄ê·raś

And He will spread out

יָדָיו֙

yā·ḏāw

בְּקִרְבּ֔וֹ

bə·qir·bōw,

כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

יְפָרֵ֥שׂ

yə·p̄ā·rêś

הַשֹּׂחֶ֖ה

haś·śō·ḥeh

､ לִשְׂח֑וֹת

liś·ḥō·wṯ;

to swim ､

וְהִשְׁפִּיל֙

wə·hiš·pîl

and He will bring down

גַּֽאֲוָת֔וֹ

ga·’ă·wā·ṯōw,

עִ֖ם

‘im

אָרְבּ֥וֹת

’ā·rə·bō·wṯ

. יָדָֽיו׃

yā·ḏāw.

of their hands .

וּמִבְצַ֞ר

ū·miḇ·ṣar

And the fortress

מִשְׂגַּ֣ב

miś·gaḇ

of the high fort

חוֹמֹתֶ֗יךָ

ḥō·w·mō·ṯe·ḵā,

､ הֵשַׁ֥ח

hê·šaḥ

He will bring down ､

､ הִשְׁפִּ֛יל

hiš·pîl

הִגִּ֥יעַ

hig·gî·a‘

[And] bring

､ לָאָ֖רֶץ

lā·’ā·reṣ

to the ground ､

עַד־

‘aḏ-

. עָפָֽר׃

‘ā·p̄ār.

the dust .
