בַּיָּמִ֣ים

bay·yā·mîm

הָהֵ֔ם

hā·hêm,

חָלָ֥ה

ḥā·lāh

חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ

ḥiz·qî·yā·hū

. לָמ֑וּת

lā·mūṯ;

and near death .

וַיָּב֣וֹא

way·yā·ḇō·w

And went

אֵ֠לָיו

’ê·lāw

to him

יְשַׁעְיָ֨הוּ

yə·ša‘·yā·hū

בֶן־

ḇen-

אָמ֜וֹץ

’ā·mō·wṣ

הַנָּבִ֗יא

han·nā·ḇî,

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said

אֵלָ֜יו

’ê·lāw

to him

כֹּֽה־

kōh-

אָמַ֤ר

’ā·mar

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

צַ֣ו

ṣaw

לְבֵיתֶ֔ךָ

lə·ḇê·ṯe·ḵā,

כִּ֛י

kî

､ מֵ֥ת

mêṯ

אַתָּ֖ה

’at·tāh

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

. תִֽחְיֶֽה׃

ṯiḥ·yeh.

וַיַּסֵּ֧ב

way·yas·sêḇ

חִזְקִיָּ֛הוּ

ḥiz·qî·yā·hū

פָּנָ֖יו

pā·nāw

אֶל־

’el-

､ הַקִּ֑יר

haq·qîr;

the wall ､

וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֖ל

way·yiṯ·pal·lêl

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

､ וַיֹּאמַ֗ר

way·yō·mar,

and said ､

､ אָנָּ֤ה

’ān·nāh

I pray ､

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

זְכָר־

zə·ḵār-

､ נָ֞א

nā

now ､

אֵ֣ת

’êṯ

-

אֲשֶׁ֧ר

’ă·šer

הִתְהַלַּ֣כְתִּי

hiṯ·hal·laḵ·tî

לְפָנֶ֗יךָ

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā,

בֶּֽאֱמֶת֙

be·’ĕ·meṯ

､ וּבְלֵ֣ב

ū·ḇə·lêḇ

and with a heart ､

שָׁלֵ֔ם

šā·lêm,

וְהַטּ֥וֹב

wə·haṭ·ṭō·wḇ

and [what is] good

. בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ

bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā

in Your sight .

עָשִׂ֑יתִי

‘ā·śî·ṯî;

וַיֵּ֥בְךְּ

way·yê·ḇək

and wept

חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ

ḥiz·qî·yā·hū

בְּכִ֥י

bə·ḵî

. גָדֽוֹל׃

And came

דְּבַר־

the word

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

אֶֽל־

’el-

to

､ יְשַׁעְיָ֖הוּ

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

､ הָל֞וֹךְ

hā·lō·wḵ

go ､

וְאָמַרְתָּ֣

wə·’ā·mar·tā

and tell

אֶל־

’el-

､ חִזְקִיָּ֗הוּ

ḥiz·qî·yā·hū,

כֹּֽה־

kōh-

אָמַ֤ר

’ā·mar

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵי֙

’ĕ·lō·hê

the God

דָּוִ֣ד

dā·wiḏ

､ אָבִ֔יךָ

’ā·ḇî·ḵā,

your father ､

שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙

šā·ma‘·tî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ תְּפִלָּתֶ֔ךָ

tə·p̄il·lā·ṯe·ḵā,

your prayer ､

רָאִ֖יתִי

rā·’î·ṯî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– דִּמְעָתֶ֑ךָ

dim·‘ā·ṯe·ḵā;

הִנְנִי֙

hin·nî

יוֹסִ֣ף

yō·w·sip̄

I will add

עַל־

‘al-

to

יָמֶ֔יךָ

yā·me·ḵā,

חֲמֵ֥שׁ

ḥă·mêš

עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה

‘eś·rêh

[and] ten

. שָׁנָֽה׃

šā·nāh.

וּמִכַּ֤ף

ū·mik·kap̄

And from the hand

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

of the king

– אַשּׁוּר֙

’aš·šūr

of Assyria –

אַצִּ֣ילְךָ֔

’aṣ·ṣî·lə·ḵā,

I will deliver you

וְאֵ֖ת

wə·’êṯ

and

הָעִ֣יר

hā·‘îr

הַזֹּ֑את

haz·zōṯ;

וְגַנּוֹתִ֖י

wə·ḡan·nō·w·ṯî

and I will defend

עַל־

‘al-

הָעִ֥יר

hā·‘îr

. הַזֹּֽאת׃

haz·zōṯ.

וְזֶה־

wə·zeh-

And this [is]

לְּךָ֥

lə·ḵā

to you

הָא֖וֹת

hā·’ō·wṯ

the sign

מֵאֵ֣ת

mê·’êṯ

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

אֲשֶׁר֙

’ă·šer

יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה

ya·‘ă·śeh

will do

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַדָּבָ֥ר

had·dā·ḇār

הַזֶּ֖ה

haz·zeh

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

– דִּבֵּֽר׃

dib·bêr.

He has spoken –

הִנְנִ֣י

hin·nî

מֵשִׁ֣יב

mê·šîḇ

I will bring

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

צֵ֣ל

ṣêl

the shadow on

､ הַֽמַּעֲל֡וֹת

ham·ma·‘ă·lō·wṯ

the sundial ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

יָרְדָה֩

yā·rə·ḏāh

בְמַעֲל֨וֹת

ḇə·ma·‘ă·lō·wṯ

on the sundial

､ אָחָ֥ז

’ā·ḥāz

of Ahaz ､

בַּשֶּׁ֛מֶשׁ

baš·še·meš

with the sun

. אֲחֹרַנִּ֖ית

’ă·ḥō·ran·nîṯ

עֶ֣שֶׂר

‘e·śer

מַעֲל֑וֹת

ma·‘ă·lō·wṯ;

וַתָּ֤שָׁב

wat·tā·šāḇ

הַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙

haš·še·meš

the sun

עֶ֣שֶׂר

‘e·śer

､ מַעֲל֔וֹת

ma·‘ă·lō·wṯ,

בַּֽמַּעֲל֖וֹת

bam·ma·‘ă·lō·wṯ

on the dial

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

. יָרָֽדָה׃

yā·rā·ḏāh.

it had gone down .

Hezekiah's Song of Thanksgiving

מִכְתָּ֖ב

miḵ·tāḇ

This is the writing

לְחִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ

lə·ḥiz·qî·yā·hū

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

､ יְהוּדָ֑ה

yə·hū·ḏāh;

of Judah ､

､ בַּחֲלֹת֕וֹ

ba·ḥă·lō·ṯōw

when he had been sick ､

וַיְחִ֖י

way·ḥî

and had recovered

– מֵחָלְיֽוֹ׃

mê·ḥā·lə·yōw.

from his sickness –

אֲנִ֣י

’ă·nî

I

אָמַ֗רְתִּי

’ā·mar·tî,

בִּדְמִ֥י

biḏ·mî

in the prime

､ יָמַ֛י

yā·may

of my life ､

אֵלֵ֖כָה

’ê·lê·ḵāh

I shall go

בְּשַׁעֲרֵ֣י

bə·ša·‘ă·rê

to the gates

– שְׁא֑וֹל

šə·’ō·wl;

of Sheol –

פֻּקַּ֖דְתִּי

puq·qaḏ·tî

יֶ֥תֶר

ye·ṯer

of the remainder

. שְׁנוֹתָֽי׃

šə·nō·w·ṯāy.

of my years .

､ אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙

’ā·mar·tî

I said ､

לֹא־

lō-

not

אֶרְאֶ֣ה

’er·’eh

יָ֔הּ

yāh,

､ יָ֖הּ

yāh

YAH ､

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

– הַחַיִּ֑ים

ha·ḥay·yîm;

of the living –

לֹא־

lō-

no

אַבִּ֥יט

’ab·bîṭ

I shall observe

אָדָ֛ם

’ā·ḏām

ע֖וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

עִם־

‘im-

י֥וֹשְׁבֵי

yō·wō·šə·ḇê

the inhabitants

. חָֽדֶל׃

ḥā·ḏel.

of the world .

דּוֹרִ֗י

dō·w·rî,

､ נִסַּ֧ע

nis·sa‘

is gone ､

וְנִגְלָ֛ה

wə·niḡ·lāh

מִנִּ֖י

min·nî

– כְּאֹ֣הֶל

kə·’ō·hel

like a tent –

רֹעִ֑י

rō·‘î;

קִפַּ֨דְתִּי

qip·paḏ·tî

כָאֹרֵ֤ג

ḵā·’ō·rêḡ

– חַיַּי֙

ḥay·yay

my life –

– מִדַּלָּ֣ה

mid·dal·lāh

from the loom –

יְבַצְּעֵ֔נִי

yə·ḇaṣ·ṣə·‘ê·nî,

He cuts me off

מִיּ֥וֹם

mî·yō·wm

עַד־

‘aḏ-

לַ֖יְלָה

lay·lāh

. תַּשְׁלִימֵֽנִי׃

taš·lî·mê·nî.

You make an end of me .

שִׁוִּ֤יתִי

šiw·wî·ṯî

I have considered

עַד־

‘aḏ-

､ בֹּ֙קֶר֙

bō·qer

､ כָּֽאֲרִ֔י

kā·’ă·rî,

Like a lion ､

כֵּ֥ן

kên

so

יְשַׁבֵּ֖ר

yə·šab·bêr

כָּל־

kāl-

､ עַצְמוֹתָ֑י

‘aṣ·mō·w·ṯāy;

my bones ､

מִיּ֥וֹם

mî·yō·wm

עַד־

‘aḏ-

לַ֖יְלָה

lay·lāh

. תַּשְׁלִימֵֽנִי׃

taš·lî·mê·nî.

You make an end of me .

כְּס֤וּס

kə·sūs

､ עָגוּר֙

‘ā·ḡūr

[or] a swallow ､

כֵּ֣ן

kên

so

– אֲצַפְצֵ֔ף

’ă·ṣap̄·ṣêp̄,

I chattered –

אֶהְגֶּ֖ה

’eh·geh

– כַּיּוֹנָ֑ה

kay·yō·w·nāh;

like a dove –

דַּלּ֤וּ

dal·lū

עֵינַי֙

‘ê·nay

– לַמָּר֔וֹם

lam·mā·rō·wm,

[from [looking] upward –

､ אֲדֹנָ֖י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

– עָֽשְׁקָה־

‘ā·šə·qāh-

I am oppressed –

לִּ֥י

lî

for me

. עָרְבֵֽנִי׃

‘ā·rə·ḇê·nî.

מָֽה־

māh-

؟ אֲדַבֵּ֥ר

’ă·ḏab·bêr

וְאָֽמַר־

wə·’ā·mar-

and He has both spoken

לִ֖י

lî

to me

וְה֣וּא

wə·hū

and He

עָשָׂ֑ה

‘ā·śāh;

אֶדַּדֶּ֥ה

’ed·dad·deh

I shall walk carefully

כָל־

ḵāl

שְׁנוֹתַ֖י

šə·nō·w·ṯay

עַל־

‘al-

in

מַ֥ר

mar

. נַפְשִֽׁי׃

nap̄·šî.

of my soul .

､ אֲדֹנָ֖י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם

‘ă·lê·hem

by these [things]

､ יִֽחְי֑וּ

yiḥ·yū;

[men] live ､

וּלְכָל־

ū·lə·ḵāl-

and in all these [things is]

בָּהֶן֙

bā·hen

in

חַיֵּ֣י

ḥay·yê

the life

– רוּחִ֔י

rū·ḥî,

of my spirit –

וְתַחֲלִימֵ֖נִי

wə·ṯa·ḥă·lî·mê·nî

so You will restore me

. וְהַחֲיֵֽנִי׃

wə·ha·ḥă·yê·nî.

and make me live .

､ הִנֵּ֥ה

hin·nêh

לְשָׁל֖וֹם

lə·šā·lō·wm

[it was] for [my own] peace

מַר־

mar-

לִ֣י

lî

מָ֑ר

mār;

great bitterness

וְאַתָּ֞ה

wə·’at·tāh

but You

חָשַׁ֤קְתָּ

ḥā·šaq·tā

נַפְשִׁי֙

nap̄·šî

מִשַּׁ֣חַת

miš·ša·ḥaṯ

[delivered] from the pit

､ בְּלִ֔י

bə·lî,

of corruption ､

כִּ֥י

kî

הִשְׁלַ֛כְתָּ

hiš·laḵ·tā

אַחֲרֵ֥י

’a·ḥă·rê

גֵוְךָ֖

ḡê·wə·ḵā

כָּל־

kāl-

. חֲטָאָֽי׃

ḥă·ṭā·’āy.

my sins .

כִּ֣י

kî

לֹ֥א

lō

שְׁא֛וֹל

šə·’ō·wl

תּוֹדֶ֖ךָּ

tō·w·ḏe·kā

מָ֣וֶת

mā·weṯ

יְהַלְלֶ֑ךָּ

yə·hal·le·kā;

cannot praise You

לֹֽא־

יְשַׂבְּר֥וּ

yə·śab·bə·rū

יֽוֹרְדֵי־

yō·wr·ḏê-

Those who go down to

ב֖וֹר

ḇō·wr

the pit

אֶל־

’el-

. אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃

’ă·mit·te·ḵā.

חַ֥י

､ חַ֛י

ḥay

the living man ､

ה֥וּא

hū

he

יוֹדֶ֖ךָ

yō·w·ḏe·ḵā

shall praise You

כָּמ֣וֹנִי

kā·mō·w·nî

as I [do]

– הַיּ֑וֹם

hay·yō·wm;

אָ֣ב

’āḇ

לְבָנִ֔ים

lə·ḇā·nîm,

to the sons

יוֹדִ֖יעַ

yō·w·ḏî·a‘

shall make known

אֶל־

’el-

to

. אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃

’ă·mit·te·ḵā.

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

Yahweh [was ready]

לְהוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי

lə·hō·wō·šî·‘ê·nî;

to save me

וּנְגִנוֹתַ֧י

ū·nə·ḡi·nō·w·ṯay

therefore with stringed instruments

נְנַגֵּ֛ן

nə·nag·gên

we will sing my songs

כָּל־

kāl-

יְמֵ֥י

yə·mê

the days

חַיֵּ֖ינוּ

ḥay·yê·nū

עַל־

‘al-

in

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And had said ､

יְשַׁעְיָ֔הוּ

yə·ša‘·yā·hū,

יִשְׂא֖וּ

yiś·’ū

דְּבֶ֣לֶת

də·ḇe·leṯ

､ תְּאֵנִ֑ים

tə·’ê·nîm;

of figs ､

וְיִמְרְח֥וּ

wə·yim·rə·ḥū

and apply [it] as a poultice

עַֽל־

‘al-

on

､ הַשְּׁחִ֖ין

haš·šə·ḥîn

the boil ､

. וְיֶֽחִי׃

wə·ye·ḥî.

and he shall recover .

､ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And had said ､

חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ

ḥiz·qî·yā·hū

מָ֣ה

māh

what [is]

א֑וֹת

’ō·wṯ;

the sign

כִּ֥י

kî

אֶעֱלֶ֖ה

’e·‘ĕ·leh

I shall go up

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

to the house

؟ יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.
