בֶּן־

ben-

､ יוֹתָ֨ם

of Jotham ､

בֶּן־

ben-

the son

､ עֻזִּיָּ֜הוּ

‘uz·zî·yā·hū

of Uzziah ､

מֶ֣לֶךְ

me·leḵ

､ יְהוּדָ֗ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

of Judah ､

עָלָ֣ה

‘ā·lāh

רְצִ֣ין

rə·ṣîn

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

､ אֲ֠רָם

’ă·rām

of Syria ､

וּפֶ֨קַח

ū·p̄e·qaḥ

בֶּן־

ben-

､ רְמַלְיָ֤הוּ

rə·mal·yā·hū

of Remaliah ､

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel ､

יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

yə·rū·šā·lim,

לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה

lam·mil·ḥā·māh

עָלֶ֑יהָ

‘ā·le·hā;

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

but not

יָכֹ֖ל

yā·ḵōl

לְהִלָּחֵ֥ם

lə·hil·lā·ḥêm

. עָלֶֽיהָ׃

‘ā·le·hā.

וַיֻּגַּ֗ד

way·yug·gaḏ,

And it was told

לְבֵ֤ית

lə·ḇêṯ

to the house

､ דָּוִד֙

dā·wiḏ

of David ､

､ לֵאמֹ֔ר

lê·mōr,

נָ֥חָֽה

nā·ḥāh

אֲרָ֖ם

’ă·rām

Syria's [forces]

עַל־

‘al-

in

. אֶפְרָ֑יִם

’ep̄·rā·yim;

､ וַיָּ֤נַע

way·yā·na‘

So were moved ､

לְבָבוֹ֙

lə·ḇā·ḇōw

וּלְבַ֣ב

ū·lə·ḇaḇ

and the heart

､ עַמּ֔וֹ

‘am·mōw,

of his people ､

כְּנ֥וֹעַ

kə·nō·w·a‘

עֲצֵי־

‘ă·ṣê-

יַ֖עַר

ya·‘ar

of the woods

מִפְּנֵי־

mip·pə·nê-

with

. רֽוּחַ׃

rū·aḥ.

the wind .

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

יְהוָה֮

Yah·weh

אֶֽל־

’el-

to

､ יְשַׁעְיָהוּ֒

yə·ša‘·yā·hū

צֵא־

ṣê-

go out

נָא֙

nā

לִקְרַ֣את

liq·raṯ

､ אָחָ֔ז

’ā·ḥāz,

Ahaz ､

､ אַתָּ֕ה

’at·tāh

you ､

וּשְׁאָ֖ר

ū·šə·’ār

and

יָשׁ֣וּב

yā·šūḇ

､ בְּנֶ֑ךָ

bə·ne·ḵā;

אֶל־

’el-

at

קְצֵ֗ה

qə·ṣêh,

the end

תְּעָלַת֙

tə·‘ā·laṯ

of the aqueduct from

הַבְּרֵכָ֣ה

hab·bə·rê·ḵāh

the pool

הָעֶלְיוֹנָ֔ה

hā·‘el·yō·w·nāh,

אֶל־

’el-

on

מְסִלַּ֖ת

mə·sil·laṯ

the highway to

– שְׂדֵ֥ה

śə·ḏêh

the Field –

. כוֹבֵֽס׃

ḵō·w·ḇês.

וְאָמַרְתָּ֣

wə·’ā·mar·tā

And say

אֵ֠לָיו

’ê·lāw

to him

､ הִשָּׁמֵ֨ר

hiš·šā·mêr

– וְהַשְׁקֵ֜ט

wə·haš·qêṭ

and be quiet –

､ אַל־

’al-

not ､

תִּירָ֗א

tî·rā,

וּלְבָבְךָ֙

ū·lə·ḇā·ḇə·ḵā

and

אַל־

’al-

or

יֵרַ֔ךְ

yê·raḵ,

be fainthearted

מִשְּׁנֵ֨י

miš·šə·nê

זַנְב֧וֹת

zan·ḇō·wṯ

､ הָאוּדִ֛ים

hā·’ū·ḏîm

of firebrands ､

הָעֲשֵׁנִ֖ים

hā·‘ă·šê·nîm

הָאֵ֑לֶּה

hā·’êl·leh;

בָּחֳרִי־

bā·ḥo·rî-

אַ֛ף

’ap̄

רְצִ֥ין

rə·ṣîn

､ וַאֲרָ֖ם

wa·’ă·rām

and Syria ､

וּבֶן־

ū·ḇen-

and the son

. רְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃

rə·mal·yā·hū.

יַ֗עַן

ya·‘an,

כִּֽי־

kî-

יָעַ֥ץ

yā·‘aṣ

עָלֶ֛יךָ

‘ā·le·ḵā

､ אֲרָ֖ם

’ă·rām

רָעָ֑ה

rā·‘āh;

､ אֶפְרַ֥יִם

’ep̄·ra·yim

וּבֶן־

ū·ḇen-

and the son

､ רְמַלְיָ֖הוּ

rə·mal·yā·hū

of Remaliah ､

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

נַעֲלֶ֤ה

na·‘ă·leh

let us go up

､ בִֽיהוּדָה֙

ḇî·hū·ḏāh

against Judah ､

וּנְקִיצֶ֔נָּה

ū·nə·qî·ṣen·nāh,

and trouble it

וְנַבְקִעֶ֖נָּה

wə·naḇ·qi·‘en·nāh

and let us make a gap in its wall

אֵלֵ֑ינוּ

’ê·lê·nū;

וְנַמְלִ֥יךְ

wə·nam·lîḵ

and set

מֶ֙לֶךְ֙

me·leḵ

בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ

bə·ṯō·w·ḵāh,

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

בֶּן־

ben-

the son

– טָֽבְאַֽל׃

ṭā·ḇə·’al.

､ דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק

[is] Damascus ､

וְרֹ֥אשׁ

and the head

דַּמֶּ֖שֶׂק

dam·me·śeq

– רְצִ֑ין

rə·ṣîn;

[is] Rezin –

וּבְע֗וֹד

ū·ḇə·‘ō·wḏ,

שִׁשִּׁ֤ים

šiš·šîm

וְחָמֵשׁ֙

wə·ḥā·mêš

and five

שָׁנָ֔ה

šā·nāh,

､ יֵחַ֥ת

yê·ḥaṯ

will be broken ､

אֶפְרַ֖יִם

’ep̄·ra·yim

. מֵעָֽם׃

mê·‘ām.

[So that it will] not [be] a people .

וְרֹ֤אשׁ

wə·rōš

And the head

אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙

’ep̄·ra·yim

､ שֹׁמְר֔וֹן

šō·mə·rō·wn,

[is] Samaria ､

וְרֹ֥אשׁ

wə·rōš

and the head

שֹׁמְר֖וֹן

šō·mə·rō·wn

. בֶּן־

ben-

רְמַלְיָ֑הוּ

rə·mal·yā·hū;

אִ֚ם

’im

if

לֹ֣א

lō

not

､ תַאֲמִ֔ינוּ

ṯa·’ă·mî·nū,

you will believe ､

כִּ֖י

kî

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. תֵאָמֵֽנוּ׃

ṯê·’ā·mê·nū.

you shall be established .

Ahaz ､

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

שְׁאַל־

šə·’al-

לְךָ֣

lə·ḵā

א֔וֹת

’ō·wṯ,

מֵעִ֖ם

mê·‘im

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

– אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā;

､ הַעְמֵ֣ק

ha‘·mêq

either in the depth ､

שְׁאָ֔לָה

šə·’ā·lāh,

ask it

א֖וֹ

’ōw

or

הַגְבֵּ֥הַּ

haḡ·bê·ah

in the height

. לְמָֽעְלָה׃

lə·mā·‘ə·lāh.

､ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

way·yō·mer

But said ､

אָחָ֑ז

’ā·ḥāz;

לֹא־

lō-

not

､ אֶשְׁאַ֥ל

’eš·’al

I will ask ､

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

אֲנַסֶּ֖ה

’ă·nas·seh

will I test

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

､ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And he said ､

שִׁמְעוּ־

šim·‘ū-

､ נָ֖א

nā

now ､

בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

– דָּוִ֑ד

dā·wiḏ;

of David –

הַמְעַ֤ט

ham·‘aṭ

[Is it] a small thing

מִכֶּם֙

mik·kem

הַלְא֣וֹת

hal·’ō·wṯ

､ אֲנָשִׁ֔ים

’ă·nā·šîm,

men ､

כִּ֥י

kî

but

תַלְא֖וּ

ṯal·’ū

؟ גַּ֥ם

gam

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. אֱלֹהָֽי׃

’ĕ·lō·hāy.

my God .

לָ֠כֵן

lā·ḵên

יִתֵּ֨ן

yit·tên

will give

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

ה֛וּא

hū

He

לָכֶ֖ם

lā·ḵem

– א֑וֹת

’ō·wṯ;

a sign –

､ הִנֵּ֣ה

hin·nêh

הָעַלְמָ֗ה

hā·‘al·māh,

הָרָה֙

hā·rāh

shall become pregnant

וְיֹלֶ֣דֶת

wə·yō·le·ḏeṯ

and bear

､ בֵּ֔ן

bên,

a Son ､

וְקָרָ֥את

wə·qā·rāṯ

שְׁמ֖וֹ

šə·mōw

עִמָּ֥נוּ

‘im·mā·nū

-

. אֵֽל׃

’êl.

חֶמְאָ֥ה

ḥem·’āh

וּדְבַ֖שׁ

ū·ḏə·ḇaš

､ יֹאכֵ֑ל

yō·ḵêl;

He shall eat ､

לְדַעְתּ֛וֹ

lə·ḏa‘·tōw

that He may know

מָא֥וֹס

mā·’ō·ws

､ בָּרָ֖ע

bā·rā‘

the evil ､

וּבָח֥וֹר

ū·ḇā·ḥō·wr

. בַּטּֽוֹב׃

baṭ·ṭō·wḇ.

the good .

כִּ֠י

kî

בְּטֶ֨רֶם

bə·ṭe·rem

יֵדַ֥ע

yê·ḏa‘

הַנַּ֛עַר

han·na·‘ar

מָאֹ֥ס

mā·’ōs

､ בָּרָ֖ע

bā·rā‘

the evil ､

וּבָחֹ֣ר

ū·ḇā·ḥōr

､ בַּטּ֑וֹב

baṭ·ṭō·wḇ;

the good ､

תֵּעָזֵ֤ב

tê·‘ā·zêḇ

will be forsaken

הָאֲדָמָה֙

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh

the land

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

אַתָּ֣ה

’at·tāh

קָ֔ץ

qāṣ,

מִפְּנֵ֖י

mip·pə·nê

by

שְׁנֵ֥י

šə·nê

the two

. מְלָכֶֽיהָ׃

mə·lā·ḵe·hā.

Judgment to Come

יָבִ֨יא

yā·ḇî

Will bring

יְהוָ֜ה

Yah·weh

עָלֶ֗יךָ

‘ā·le·ḵā,

וְעַֽל־

wə·‘al-

and

､ עַמְּךָ֮

‘am·mə·ḵā

your people ､

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

､ בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

אָבִיךָ֒

’ā·ḇî·ḵā

יָמִים֙

yā·mîm

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

לֹא־

lō-

not

､ בָ֔אוּ

ḇā·’ū,

לְמִיּ֥וֹם

lə·mî·yō·wm

סוּר־

sūr-

אֶפְרַ֖יִם

’ep̄·ra·yim

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

– יְהוּדָ֑ה

yə·hū·ḏāh;

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

מֶ֥לֶךְ

me·leḵ

the king

. אַשּֽׁוּר׃

’aš·šūr.

וְהָיָ֣ה ׀

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall come to pass

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day ､

הַה֗וּא

ha·hū,

יִשְׁרֹ֤ק

yiš·rōq

[That] will whistle

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

לַזְּב֔וּב

laz·zə·ḇūḇ,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

that [is]

בִּקְצֵ֖ה

biq·ṣêh

in the farthest part

יְאֹרֵ֣י

yə·’ō·rê

of the rivers

､ מִצְרָ֑יִם

miṣ·rā·yim;

of Egypt ､

וְלַ֨דְּבוֹרָ֔ה

wə·lad·də·ḇō·w·rāh,

and for the bee

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

’ă·šer

that [is]

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

. אַשּֽׁוּר׃

’aš·šūr.

､ וּבָ֨אוּ

ū·ḇā·’ū

And they will come ､

וְנָח֤וּ

wə·nā·ḥū

and will rest

כֻלָּם֙

ḵul·lām

､ בְּנַחֲלֵ֣י

bə·na·ḥă·lê

in valleys ､

הַבַּתּ֔וֹת

hab·bat·tō·wṯ,

וּבִנְקִיקֵ֖י

ū·ḇin·qî·qê

and in the clefts

､ הַסְּלָעִ֑ים

has·sə·lā·‘îm;

of the rocks ､

וּבְכֹל֙

ū·ḇə·ḵōl

and on all

. הַנַּ֣עֲצוּצִ֔ים

han·na·‘ă·ṣū·ṣîm,

וּבְכֹ֖ל

ū·ḇə·ḵōl

And in all

､ הַנַּהֲלֹלִֽים׃

han·na·hă·lō·lîm.

בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day

הַה֡וּא

ha·hū

יְגַלַּ֣ח

yə·ḡal·laḥ

will shave

אֲדֹנָי֩

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

בְּתַ֨עַר

bə·ṯa·‘ar

with a razor

､ הַשְּׂכִירָ֜ה

haś·śə·ḵî·rāh

בְּעֶבְרֵ֤י

bə·‘eḇ·rê

with those from beyond

､ נָהָר֙

nā·hār

the River ､

בְּמֶ֣לֶךְ

bə·me·leḵ

with the king

､ אַשּׁ֔וּר

’aš·šūr,

of Assyria ､

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָרֹ֖אשׁ

hā·rōš

the head ､

וְשַׂ֣עַר

wə·śa·‘ar

and the hair

– הָרַגְלָ֑יִם

hā·raḡ·lā·yim;

of the legs –

וְגַ֥ם

wə·ḡam

and also

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַזָּקָ֖ן

haz·zā·qān

. תִּסְפֶּֽה׃

tis·peh.

will remove .

וְהָיָ֖ה

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall be

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day ､

הַה֑וּא

ha·hū;

יְחַיֶּה־

yə·ḥay·yeh-

[That] will keep alive

אִ֛ישׁ

’îš

､ עֶגְלַ֥ת

‘eḡ·laṯ

a cow ､

בָּקָ֖ר

bā·qār

וּשְׁתֵּי־

ū·šə·tê-

and two

– צֹֽאן׃

ṣōn.

､ וְהָיָ֗ה

wə·hā·yāh,

so it shall be ､

מֵרֹ֛ב

mê·rōḇ

from the abundance

עֲשׂ֥וֹת

‘ă·śō·wṯ

חָלָ֖ב

ḥā·lāḇ

יֹאכַ֣ל

yō·ḵal

that he will eat

､ חֶמְאָ֑ה

ḥem·’āh;

כִּֽי־

kî-

חֶמְאָ֤ה

ḥem·’āh

וּדְבַשׁ֙

ū·ḏə·ḇaš

יֹאכֵ֔ל

yō·ḵêl,

will eat

כָּל־

kāl-

הַנּוֹתָ֖ר

han·nō·w·ṯār

בְּקֶ֥רֶב

bə·qe·reḇ

in

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the land .

וְהָיָה֙

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall happen

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day ､

הַה֔וּא

ha·hū,

､ יִֽהְיֶ֣ה

yih·yeh

shall be ､

כָל־

ḵāl

מָק֗וֹם

mā·qō·wm,

[That] wherever

אֲשֶׁ֧ר

’ă·šer

יִֽהְיֶה־

yih·yeh-

שָּׁ֛ם

šām

אֶ֥לֶף

’e·lep̄

גֶּ֖פֶן

ge·p̄en

בְּאֶ֣לֶף

bə·’e·lep̄

[Worth] a thousand [shekels]

､ כָּ֑סֶף

kā·sep̄;

of silver ､

לַשָּׁמִ֥יר

laš·šā·mîr

וְלַשַּׁ֖יִת

wə·laš·ša·yiṯ

. יִֽהְיֶֽה׃

yih·yeh.

it will be .

בַּחִצִּ֥ים

ba·ḥiṣ·ṣîm

וּבַקֶּ֖שֶׁת

ū·ḇaq·qe·šeṯ

and bows

יָ֣בוֹא

yā·ḇō·w

– שָׁ֑מָּה

šām·māh;

כִּי־

kî-

שָׁמִ֥יר

šā·mîr

. וָשַׁ֖יִת

wā·ša·yiṯ

and thorns .

תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה

tih·yeh

כָל־

ḵāl

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the land .

וְכֹ֣ל

wə·ḵōl

And to any

הֶהָרִ֗ים

he·hā·rîm,

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

､ בַּמַּעְדֵּר֙

bam·ma‘·dêr

with the hoe ､

יֵעָ֣דֵר֔וּן

yê·‘ā·ḏê·rūn,

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

תָב֣וֹא

ṯā·ḇō·w

You will go

שָׁ֔מָּה

šām·māh,

יִרְאַ֖ת

yir·’aṯ

שָׁמִ֣יר

šā·mîr

– וָשָׁ֑יִת

wā·šā·yiṯ;

and thorns –

וְהָיָה֙

wə·hā·yāh

but it will become

לְמִשְׁלַ֣ח

lə·miš·laḥ

､ שׁ֔וֹר

šō·wr,

oxen ､

וּלְמִרְמַ֖ס

ū·lə·mir·mas

and for a place to roam

. שֶֽׂה׃
