the men

of Judah ､

וְעַל־

and to

the inhabitants

– יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

of Jerusalem –

וְאָמַרְתָּ֣

and say

אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

כֹּֽה־

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

the man

in the day

הוֹצִיאִֽי־

מֵאֶֽרֶץ־

mê·’e·reṣ-

out of the land

､ מִצְרַיִם֩

miṣ·ra·yim

of Egypt ､

､ מִכּ֨וּר

mik·kūr

from furnace ､

הַבַּרְזֶ֜ל

hab·bar·zel

the iron

､ לֵאמֹ֗ר

lê·mōr,

שִׁמְע֤וּ

šim·‘ū

､ בְקוֹלִי֙

ḇə·qō·w·lî

My voice ､

וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֣ם

wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem

and do

אוֹתָ֔ם

’ō·w·ṯām,

-

כְּכֹ֥ל

kə·ḵōl

according to all

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

אֲצַוֶּ֖ה

’ă·ṣaw·weh

אֶתְכֶ֑ם

’eṯ·ḵem;

וִהְיִ֤יתֶם

wih·yî·ṯem

so shall you be

לִי֙

lî

My

､ לְעָ֔ם

lə·‘ām,

וְאָ֣נֹכִ֔י

wə·’ā·nō·ḵî,

and I

אֶהְיֶ֥ה

’eh·yeh

will be

לָכֶ֖ם

lā·ḵem

– לֵאלֹהִֽים׃

lê·lō·hîm.

לְמַעַן֩

הָקִ֨ים

hā·qîm

I may establish

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הַשְּׁבוּעָ֜ה

haš·šə·ḇū·‘āh

the oath

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתִּי

niš·ba‘·tî

､ לַאֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶ֗ם

la·’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·ḵem,

to your fathers ､

לָתֵ֤ת

lā·ṯêṯ

לָהֶם֙

lā·hem

אֶ֣רֶץ

’e·reṣ

זָבַ֥ת

zā·ḇaṯ

חָלָ֛ב

ḥā·lāḇ

､ וּדְבַ֖שׁ

ū·ḏə·ḇaš

and honey ､

. כַּיּ֣וֹם

kay·yō·wm

as [it is] day .

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

וָאַ֥עַן

wā·’a·‘an

､ וָאֹמַ֖ר

wā·’ō·mar

and said ､

､ אָמֵ֥ן ׀

’ā·mên

Amen ､

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

בְּעָרֵ֣י

in the cities

､ יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

of Judah ､

וּבְחֻצ֥וֹת

ū·ḇə·ḥu·ṣō·wṯ

and in the streets

､ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

yə·rū·šā·lim

of Jerusalem ､

､ לֵאמֹ֑ר

lê·mōr;

שִׁמְע֗וּ

šim·‘ū,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

דִּבְרֵי֙

､ הַבְּרִ֣ית

hab·bə·rîṯ

of covenant ､

הַזֹּ֔את

וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם

and do

הַעֲלוֹתִ֨י

אוֹתָ֜ם

מֵאֶ֤רֶץ

out of the land

､ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙

miṣ·ra·yim

of Egypt ､

וְעַד־

day ､

הַשְׁכֵּ֥ם

וְהָעֵ֖ד

､ לֵאמֹ֑ר

שִׁמְע֖וּ

. בְּקוֹלִֽי׃

My voice .

､ וְלֹ֤א

And yet not ､

שָֽׁמְעוּ֙

šā·mə·‘ū

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

or

הִטּ֣וּ

hiṭ·ṭū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ אָזְנָ֔ם

’ā·zə·nām,

וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ

way·yê·lə·ḵū,

אִ֕ישׁ

’îš

בִּשְׁרִיר֖וּת

biš·rî·rūṯ

– לִבָּ֣ם

lib·bām

of his heart –

הָרָ֑ע

hā·rā‘;

וָאָבִ֨יא

wā·’ā·ḇî

therefore I will bring

עֲלֵיהֶ֜ם

‘ă·lê·hem

אֶֽת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

דִּבְרֵ֧י

diḇ·rê

､ הַבְּרִית־

hab·bə·rîṯ-

of covenant ､

הַזֹּ֛את

haz·zōṯ

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

צִוִּ֥יתִי

ṣiw·wî·ṯî

I commanded [them]

– לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ

to do –

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

but [which] not

. עָשֽׂוּ׃

‘ā·śū.

they have done .

And said

יְהוָ֖ה

אֵלָ֑י

’ê·lāy;

to me

נִֽמְצָא־

nim·ṣā-

קֶ֙שֶׁר֙

qe·šer

בְּאִ֣ישׁ

bə·’îš

､ יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

of Judah ､

וּבְיֹשְׁבֵ֖י

ū·ḇə·yō·šə·ḇê

and among the inhabitants

. יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

yə·rū·šā·lim.

שָׁ֩בוּ֩

šā·ḇū

They have turned back

עַל־

‘al-

to

עֲוֺנֹ֨ת

‘ă·wō·nōṯ

אֲבוֹתָ֜ם

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām

of

､ הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֗ים

hā·ri·šō·nîm,

their forefathers ､

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

מֵֽאֲנוּ֙

mê·’ă·nū

לִשְׁמ֣וֹעַ

liš·mō·w·a‘

אֶת־

’eṯ-

– דְּבָרַ֔י

də·ḇā·ray,

My words –

וְהֵ֣מָּה

wə·hêm·māh

and they

הָלְכ֗וּ

hā·lə·ḵū,

אַחֲרֵ֛י

’a·ḥă·rê

אֱלֹהִ֥ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

אֲחֵרִ֖ים

’ă·ḥê·rîm

לְעָבְדָ֑ם

lə·‘ā·ḇə·ḏām;

הֵפֵ֤רוּ

hê·p̄ê·rū

בֵֽית־

ḇêṯ-

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

וּבֵ֣ית

ū·ḇêṯ

and the house

יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

בְּרִיתִ֕י

bə·rî·ṯî

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

כָּרַ֖תִּי

kā·rat·tî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

. אֲבוֹתָֽם׃

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām.

their fathers .

Yah·weh,

הִנְנִ֨י

I will surely bring

אֲלֵיהֶם֙

’ă·lê·hem

רָעָ֔ה

rā·‘āh,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

יוּכְל֖וּ

yū·ḵə·lū

they will be able

לָצֵ֣את

lā·ṣêṯ

מִמֶּ֑נָּה

mim·men·nāh;

וְזָעֲק֣וּ

wə·zā·‘ă·qū

and though they cry out

אֵלַ֔י

’ê·lay,

to Me

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

אֶשְׁמַ֖ע

’eš·ma‘

I will listen

. אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

’ă·lê·hem.

to them .

､ וְהָֽלְכ֞וּ

wə·hā·lə·ḵū

And will go ､

עָרֵ֣י

‘ā·rê

יְהוּדָ֗ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

וְיֹשְׁבֵי֙

wə·yō·šə·ḇê

and the inhabitants

יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

yə·rū·šā·lim,

וְזָֽעֲקוּ֙

wə·zā·‘ă·qū

אֶל־

’el-

to

הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

the gods

אֲשֶׁ֛ר

’ă·šer

הֵ֥ם

hêm

– מְקַטְּרִ֖ים

mə·qaṭ·ṭə·rîm

offer incense –

לָהֶ֑ם

lā·hem;

וְהוֹשֵׁ֛עַ

wə·hō·wō·šê·a‘

but at all

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

יוֹשִׁ֥יעוּ

yō·wō·šî·‘ū

לָהֶ֖ם

lā·hem

בְּעֵ֥ת

bə·‘êṯ

in the time

. רָעָתָֽם׃

rā·‘ā·ṯām.

of their trouble .

כִּ֚י

מִסְפַּ֣ר

[according to] the number

עָרֶ֔יךָ

הָי֥וּ

､ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ

וּמִסְפַּ֞ר

and [according to] the number

חֻצ֣וֹת

of the streets

you have set up

מִזְבְּחוֹת֙

miz·bə·ḥō·wṯ

､ לַבֹּ֔שֶׁת

lab·bō·šeṯ,

to [that] shameful thing ､

מִזְבְּח֖וֹת

miz·bə·ḥō·wṯ

לְקַטֵּ֥ר

lə·qaṭ·ṭêr

to burn incense

. לַבָּֽעַל׃

lab·bā·‘al.

to Baal .

So you

תִּתְפַּלֵּל֙

בְּעַד־

､ הָעָ֣ם

haz·zeh,

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

or

תִּשָּׂ֥א

בַעֲדָ֖ם

רִנָּ֣ה

rin·nāh

וּתְפִלָּ֑ה

ū·ṯə·p̄il·lāh;

כִּ֣י

אֵינֶ֣נִּי

שֹׁמֵ֗עַ

I will hear [them]

בְּעֵ֛ת

bə·‘êṯ

in the time

קָרְאָ֥ם

that they cry out

to Me

מֵֽעָלָ֑יִךְ

you do evil ､

. תַּעֲלֹֽזִי׃

[and] of Fruit –

with the noise

to provoke Me to anger

in offering incense

The Plot against Jeremiah

gave knowledge me [of it]

וָֽאֵדָ֑עָה

wā·’ê·ḏā·‘āh;

and I know [it]

אָ֖ז

הִרְאִיתַ֥נִי

hir·’î·ṯa·nî

. מַעַלְלֵיהֶֽם׃

ma·‘al·lê·hem.

וַאֲנִ֕י

wa·’ă·nî

But I [was]

כְּכֶ֥בֶשׂ

kə·ḵe·ḇeś

אַלּ֖וּף

’al·lūp̄

יוּבַ֣ל

yū·ḇal

– לִטְב֑וֹחַ

liṭ·ḇō·w·aḥ;

to the slaughter –

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and not

יָדַ֜עְתִּי

yā·ḏa‘·tî

כִּֽי־

kî-

עָלַ֣י ׀

‘ā·lay

חָשְׁב֣וּ

ḥā·šə·ḇū

they had devised

מַחֲשָׁב֗וֹת

ma·ḥă·šā·ḇō·wṯ,

נַשְׁחִ֨יתָה

naš·ḥî·ṯāh

[saying] let us destroy

עֵ֤ץ

‘êṣ

the tree

בְּלַחְמוֹ֙

bə·laḥ·mōw

וְנִכְרְתֶ֙נּוּ֙

wə·niḵ·rə·ṯen·nū

and let us cut him off

מֵאֶ֣רֶץ

mê·’e·reṣ

､ חַיִּ֔ים

ḥay·yîm,

of the living ､

וּשְׁמ֖וֹ

ū·šə·mōw

לֹֽא־

lō-

no

יִזָּכֵ֥ר

yiz·zā·ḵêr

may be remembered

. עֽוֹד׃

‘ō·wḏ.

וַֽיהוָ֤ה

Yah·weh

､ צְבָאוֹת֙

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ

of hosts ､

שֹׁפֵ֣ט

šō·p̄êṭ

､ צֶ֔דֶק

ṣe·ḏeq,

righteously ､

בֹּחֵ֥ן

bō·ḥên

כְּלָי֖וֹת

kə·lā·yō·wṯ

the mind

､ וָלֵ֑ב

wā·lêḇ;

and the heart ､

אֶרְאֶ֤ה

’er·’eh

נִקְמָֽתְךָ֙

niq·mā·ṯə·ḵā

מֵהֶ֔ם

mê·hem,

כִּ֥י

kî

אֵלֶ֖יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

to You

גִּלִּ֥יתִי

gil·lî·ṯî

I have revealed

by the sword –

and their daughters

יָמֻ֖תוּ

yā·mu·ṯū

– בָּרָעָֽב׃

bā·rā·‘āḇ.

by famine –

וּשְׁאֵרִ֕ית

ū·šə·’ê·rîṯ
