וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֵלַ֔י

’ê·lay,

to me

אִם־

’im-

[Even] if

יַעֲמֹ֨ד

ya·‘ă·mōḏ

מֹשֶׁ֤ה

mō·šeh

וּשְׁמוּאֵל֙

ū·šə·mū·’êl

לְפָנַ֔י

lə·p̄ā·nay,

אֵ֥ין

’ên

[would] not [be]

נַפְשִׁ֖י

nap̄·šî

אֶל־

’el-

favorable toward

– הָעָ֣ם

hā·‘ām

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

שַׁלַּ֥ח

šal·laḥ

מֵֽעַל־

mê·‘al-

､ פָּנַ֖י

pā·nay

of My sight ､

. וְיֵצֵֽאוּ׃

wə·yê·ṣê·’ū.

and let them go forth .

､ וְהָיָ֛ה

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall be ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

if

יֹאמְר֥וּ

yō·mə·rū

אֵלֶ֖יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

to you

אָ֣נָה

’ā·nāh

؟ נֵצֵ֑א

nê·ṣê;

should we go ؟

וְאָמַרְתָּ֨

wə·’ā·mar·tā

then you shall tell

אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם

’ă·lê·hem

כֹּֽה־

kōh-

אָמַ֣ר

’ā·mar

– יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

､ לַמָּ֤וֶת

lam·mā·weṯ

– לַמָּ֙וֶת֙

lam·mā·weṯ

to death –

וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר

wa·’ă·šer

and such as [are]

､ לַחֶ֙רֶב֙

la·ḥe·reḇ

for the sword ､

– לַחֶ֔רֶב

la·ḥe·reḇ,

to the sword –

וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר

wa·’ă·šer

and such as [are]

､ לָֽרָעָב֙

lā·rā·‘āḇ

for the famine ､

– לָֽרָעָ֔ב

lā·rā·‘āḇ,

to the famine –

וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר

wa·’ă·šer

and such as [are]

､ לַשְּׁבִ֖י

laš·šə·ḇî

for the captivity ､

. לַשֶּֽׁבִי׃

laš·še·ḇî.

to the captivity .

וּפָקַדְתִּ֨י

ū·p̄ā·qaḏ·tî

And I will appoint

עֲלֵיהֶ֜ם

‘ă·lê·hem

אַרְבַּ֤ע

’ar·ba‘

､ מִשְׁפָּחוֹת֙

miš·pā·ḥō·wṯ

forms [of destruction] ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

– יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַחֶ֣רֶב

ha·ḥe·reḇ

､ לַֽהֲרֹ֔ג

la·hă·rōḡ,

to slay ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַכְּלָבִ֖ים

hak·kə·lā·ḇîm

the dogs

､ לִסְחֹ֑ב

lis·ḥōḇ;

to drag ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

ע֧וֹף

‘ō·wp̄

､ הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim

of the heavens ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

בֶּהֱמַ֥ת

be·hĕ·maṯ

､ הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

of the earth ､

לֶאֱכֹ֥ל

le·’ĕ·ḵōl

. וּלְהַשְׁחִֽית׃

ū·lə·haš·ḥîṯ.

וּנְתַתִּ֣ים

ū·nə·ṯat·tîm

And I will hand them over

[לזועה]

liz·wā·‘āh

-

(לְזַֽעֲוָ֔ה)

lə·za·‘ă·wāh,

לְכֹ֖ל

lə·ḵōl

to all

מַמְלְכ֣וֹת

mam·lə·ḵō·wṯ

､ הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

of the earth ､

בִּ֠גְלַל

biḡ·lal

מְנַשֶּׁ֤ה

mə·naš·šeh

בֶן־

ḇen-

יְחִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙

yə·ḥiz·qî·yā·hū

מֶ֣לֶךְ

me·leḵ

､ יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

of Judah ､

עַ֥ל

‘al

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עָשָׂ֖ה

‘ā·śāh

he did

. בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

bî·rū·šā·lim.

כִּ֠י

kî

מִֽי־

mî-

יַחְמֹ֤ל

yaḥ·mōl

עָלַ֙יִךְ֙

‘ā·la·yiḵ

on you

؟ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

yə·rū·šā·lim,

וּמִ֖י

ū·mî

Or who

יָנ֣וּד

yā·nūḏ

לָ֑ךְ

lāḵ;

וּמִ֣י

ū·mî

Or who

יָס֔וּר

yā·sūr,

will turn aside

לִשְׁאֹ֥ל

liš·’ōl

to ask

לְשָׁלֹ֖ם

lə·šā·lōm

؟ לָֽךְ׃

lāḵ.

אַ֣תְּ

’at

נָטַ֥שְׁתְּ

nā·ṭašt

אֹתִ֛י

’ō·ṯî

Me

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

､ יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. אָח֣וֹר

’ā·ḥō·wr

תֵּלֵ֑כִי

tê·lê·ḵî;

וָאַ֨ט

wā·’aṭ

therefore I will stretch out

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יָדִ֤י

yā·ḏî

עָלַ֙יִךְ֙

‘ā·la·yiḵ

וָֽאַשְׁחִיתֵ֔ךְ

wā·’aš·ḥî·ṯêḵ,

and destroy you

נִלְאֵ֖יתִי

nil·’ê·ṯî

I am weary

. הִנָּחֵֽם׃

hin·nā·ḥêm.

וָאֶזְרֵ֥ם

wā·’ez·rêm

And I will winnow them

בְּמִזְרֶ֖ה

bə·miz·reh

with a winnowing fan

בְּשַׁעֲרֵ֣י

bə·ša·‘ă·rê

in the gates

– הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

of the land –

שִׁכַּ֤לְתִּי

šik·kal·tî

I will bereave [them] of children

אִבַּ֙דְתִּי֙

’ib·baḏ·tî

I will destroy

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ עַמִּ֔י

‘am·mî,

My people ､

מִדַּרְכֵיהֶ֖ם

mid·dar·ḵê·hem

from their ways

לוֹא־

lō·w-

not

. שָֽׁבוּ׃

šā·ḇū.

[Since] they do return .

עָֽצְמוּ־

‘ā·ṣə·mū-

Will be increased

לִ֤י

lî

to Me

אַלְמְנֹתָו֙‪‬

’al·mə·nō·ṯāw

מֵח֣וֹל

mê·ḥō·wl

more than the sand

– יַמִּ֔ים

yam·mîm,

of the seas –

הֵבֵ֨אתִי

hê·ḇê·ṯî

I will bring

לָהֶ֥ם

lā·hem

עַל־

‘al-

אֵ֛ם

’êm

בָּח֖וּר

bā·ḥūr

of the young men

שֹׁדֵ֣ד

šō·ḏêḏ

– בַּֽצָּהֳרָ֑יִם

baṣ·ṣā·ho·rā·yim;

at noonday –

הִפַּ֤לְתִּי

hip·pal·tî

I will cause to fall

עָלֶ֙יהָ֙

‘ā·le·hā

､ פִּתְאֹ֔ם

piṯ·’ōm,

עִ֖יר

‘îr

. וּבֶהָלֽוֹת׃

ū·ḇe·hā·lō·wṯ.

and terror .

– אֻמְלְלָ֞ה

’um·lə·lāh

יֹלֶ֣דֶת

yō·le·ḏeṯ

she who has borne

הַשִּׁבְעָ֗ה

haš·šiḇ·‘āh,

נָפְחָ֥ה

nā·p̄ə·ḥāh

she has breathed

– נַפְשָׁ֛הּ

nap̄·šāh

[באה]

bā·’āh

-

(בָּ֥א)

bā

שִׁמְשָׁ֛הּ

šim·šāh

בְּעֹ֥ד

bə·‘ōḏ

while [it was] yet

– יוֹמָ֖ם

yō·w·mām

day –

בּ֣וֹשָׁה

bō·wō·šāh

she has been ashamed

. וְחָפֵ֑רָה

wə·ḥā·p̄ê·rāh;

and confounded .

וּשְׁאֵֽרִיתָ֗ם

ū·šə·’ê·rî·ṯām,

And the remnant of them

לַחֶ֧רֶב

la·ḥe·reḇ

to the sword

אֶתֵּ֛ן

’et·tên

I will deliver

לִפְנֵ֥י

lip̄·nê

､ אֹיְבֵיהֶ֖ם

’ō·yə·ḇê·hem

their enemies ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

Woe is

לִ֣י

me

､ אִמִּ֔י

’im·mî,

my mother ､

כִּ֣י

kî

יְלִדְתִּ֗נִי

yə·liḏ·ti·nî,

you have borne me

אִ֥ישׁ

’îš

רִ֛יב

rîḇ

וְאִ֥ישׁ

wə·’îš

and a man

מָד֖וֹן

mā·ḏō·wn

לְכָל־

lə·ḵāl

to all

! הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

the earth !

לֹֽא־

lō-

､ נָשִׁ֥יתִי

nā·šî·ṯî

I have lent for interest ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

– נָֽשׁוּ־

nā·šū-

have men lent for interest –

בִ֖י

ḇî

to me

כֻּלֹּ֥ה

kul·lōh

every one of them

. מְקַלְלַֽונִי׃

mə·qal·la·w·nî.

’ā·mar

Said ､

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

אִם־

’im-

לֹ֥א

[שרותך]

šā·rō·w·ṯi·ḵā

-

(שֵֽׁרִיתִ֖יךָ‪‬)

šê·rî·ṯî·ḵā

with your remnant

לְט֑וֹב

lə·ṭō·wḇ;

it will be well

אִם־

’im-

ל֣וֹא ׀

lō·w

not

הִפְגַּ֣עְתִּֽי

hip̄·ga‘·tî

I will cause to intercede

בְךָ֗

ḇə·ḵā,

with you

בְּעֵ֥ת־

bə·‘êṯ-

in the time

רָעָ֛ה

rā·‘āh

וּבְעֵ֥ת

ū·ḇə·‘êṯ

and in the time

צָרָ֖ה

ṣā·rāh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. הָאֹיֵֽב׃

hā·’ō·yêḇ.

the enemy .

הֲיָרֹ֨עַ

hă·yā·rō·a‘

Can anyone break

בַּרְזֶ֧ל ׀

bar·zel

בַּרְזֶ֛ל

bar·zel

מִצָּפ֖וֹן

miṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn

؟ וּנְחֹֽשֶׁת׃

ū·nə·ḥō·šeṯ.

and the bronze ؟

חֵילְךָ֧

ḥê·lə·ḵā

וְאוֹצְרוֹתֶ֛יךָ

wə·’ō·wṣ·rō·w·ṯe·ḵā

and your treasures

לָבַ֥ז

lā·ḇaz

אֶתֵּ֖ן

’et·tên

I will give

לֹ֣א

lō

､ בִמְחִ֑יר

ḇim·ḥîr;

without price ､

וּבְכָל־

ū·ḇə·ḵāl

and because of all

､ חַטֹּאותֶ֖יךָ

ḥaṭ·ṭō·w·ṯe·ḵā

וּבְכָל־

ū·ḇə·ḵāl

. גְּבוּלֶֽיךָ׃

gə·ḇū·le·ḵā.

your territories .

וְהַֽעֲבַרְתִּי֙

wə·ha·‘ă·ḇar·tî

And I will make [you] cross over

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

אֹ֣יְבֶ֔יךָ

’ō·yə·ḇe·ḵā,

בְּאֶ֖רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

– לֹ֣א

lō

not –

יָדָ֑עְתָּ

yā·ḏā·‘ə·tā;

[which] you do know

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֵ֛שׁ

’êš

קָדְחָ֥ה

qā·ḏə·ḥāh

､ בְאַפִּ֖י

ḇə·’ap·pî

in My anger ､

עֲלֵיכֶ֥ם

‘ă·lê·ḵem

. תּוּקָֽד׃

tū·qāḏ.

[Which] shall burn .

אַתָּ֧ה

’at·tāh

､ יָדַ֣עְתָּ

yā·ḏa‘·tā

know ､

､ יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

זָכְרֵ֤נִי

zā·ḵə·rê·nî

וּפָקְדֵ֙נִי֙

ū·p̄ā·qə·ḏê·nî

and visit me

וְהִנָּ֤קֶם

wə·hin·nā·qem

and take vengeance

לִי֙

lî

for me

– מֵרֹ֣דְפַ֔י

mê·rō·ḏə·p̄ay,

on my persecutors –

אַל־

’al-

not

לְאֶ֥רֶךְ

lə·’e·reḵ

– אַפְּךָ֖

’ap·pə·ḵā

תִּקָּחֵ֑נִי

tiq·qā·ḥê·nî;

do take me away

דַּ֕ע

da‘

שְׂאֵתִ֥י

śə·’ê·ṯî

that I have suffered

עָלֶ֖יךָ

‘ā·le·ḵā

. חֶרְפָּֽה׃

ḥer·pāh.

､ נִמְצְא֤וּ

nim·ṣə·’ū

דְבָרֶ֙יךָ֙

ḏə·ḇā·re·ḵā

וָאֹ֣כְלֵ֔ם

wā·’ō·ḵə·lêm,

and I ate them

וַיְהִ֤י

way·hî

and was

[דבריך]

ḏə·ḇā·re·ḵā

-

(דְבָֽרְךָ֙)

ḏə·ḇā·rə·ḵā

לִ֔י

lî,

to me

לְשָׂשׂ֖וֹן

lə·śā·śō·wn

the joy

וּלְשִׂמְחַ֣ת

ū·lə·śim·ḥaṯ

– לְבָבִ֑י

lə·ḇā·ḇî;

of my heart –

כִּֽי־

kî-

נִקְרָ֤א

niq·rā

､ שִׁמְךָ֙

šim·ḵā

by Your name ､

עָלַ֔י

‘ā·lay,

I

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

’ĕ·lō·hê

. צְבָאֽוֹת׃

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ.

of hosts .

Not

יָשַׁ֥בְתִּי

yā·šaḇ·tî

בְסוֹד־

ḇə·sō·wḏ-

in the assembly

､ מְשַׂחֲקִ֖ים

mə·śa·ḥă·qîm

of the mockers ､

– וָֽאֶעְלֹ֑ז

wā·’e‘·lōz;

nor did I rejoice –

מִפְּנֵ֤י

mip·pə·nê

– יָֽדְךָ֙

yā·ḏə·ḵā

of Your hand –

בָּדָ֣ד

bā·ḏāḏ

יָשַׁ֔בְתִּי

yā·šaḇ·tî,

כִּֽי־

kî-

זַ֖עַם

za·‘am

with indignation

. מִלֵּאתָֽנִי׃

mil·lê·ṯā·nî.

You have filled me .

הָיָ֤ה

hā·yāh

is

כְאֵבִי֙

ḵə·’ê·ḇî

､ נֶ֔צַח

ne·ṣaḥ,

וּמַכָּתִ֖י

ū·mak·kā·ṯî

and my wound

､ אֲנוּשָׁ֑ה֙

’ă·nū·šāh

מֵֽאֲנָה֙

mê·’ă·nāh

[Which] refuses

؟ הֵֽרָפֵ֔א

hê·rā·p̄ê,

to be healed ؟

הָי֨וֹ

hā·yōw

תִֽהְיֶ֥ה

ṯih·yeh

will You be

לִי֙

lî

to me

כְּמ֣וֹ

kə·mōw

､ אַכְזָ֔ב

’aḵ·zāḇ,

a lie ､

מַ֖יִם

ma·yim

לֹ֥א

lō

not

؟ נֶאֱמָֽנוּ׃

ne·’ĕ·mā·nū.

The Lord's Promise

לָכֵ֞ן

lā·ḵên

כֹּֽה־

kōh-

אָמַ֣ר

’ā·mar

､ יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

אִם־

’im-

if

､ תָּשׁ֤וּב

tā·šūḇ

､ וַאֲשִֽׁיבְךָ֙

wa·’ă·šî·ḇə·ḵā

and I will bring you back ､

לְפָנַ֣י

lə·p̄ā·nay

תַּֽעֲמֹ֔ד

ta·‘ă·mōḏ,

You shall stand

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

and if

תּוֹצִ֥יא

tō·w·ṣî

יָקָ֛ר

yā·qār

､ מִזּוֹלֵ֖ל

miz·zō·w·lêl

from the vile ､

. כְּפִ֣י

kə·p̄î

as My mouth .

תִֽהְיֶ֑ה

ṯih·yeh;

יָשֻׁ֤בוּ

yā·šu·ḇū

הֵ֙מָּה֙

hêm·māh

אֵלֶ֔יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā,

to you

וְאַתָּ֖ה

wə·’at·tāh

but you

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

תָשׁ֥וּב

ṯā·šūḇ

. אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

’ă·lê·hem.

to them .

וּנְתַתִּ֜יךָ

ū·nə·ṯat·tî·ḵā

And I will make you

לָעָ֣ם

lā·‘ām

הַזֶּ֗ה

haz·zeh,

– לְחוֹמַ֤ת

lə·ḥō·w·maṯ

a wall –

נְחֹ֙שֶׁת֙

nə·ḥō·šeṯ

בְּצוּרָ֔ה

bə·ṣū·rāh,

וְנִלְחֲמ֥וּ

wə·nil·ḥă·mū

and they will fight

אֵלֶ֖יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

but not

י֣וּכְלוּ

yū·ḵə·lū

they shall prevail

לָ֑ךְ

lāḵ;

כִּֽי־

kî-

אִתְּךָ֥

’it·tə·ḵā

with you

אֲנִ֛י

’ă·nî

I [am]

לְהוֹשִֽׁיעֲךָ֥

lə·hō·wō·šî·‘ă·ḵā

וּלְהַצִּילֶ֖ךָ

ū·lə·haṣ·ṣî·le·ḵā

and deliver you

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְהִצַּלְתִּ֖יךָ

wə·hiṣ·ṣal·tî·ḵā

And I will deliver you

מִיַּ֣ד

mî·yaḏ

､ רָעִ֑ים

rā·‘îm;

of the wicked ､

וּפְדִתִ֖יךָ

ū·p̄ə·ḏi·ṯî·ḵā

and I will redeem you

מִכַּ֥ף

mik·kap̄

. עָרִצִֽים׃

‘ā·ri·ṣîm.

of the terrible .
