and my eyes

､ דִּמְעָ֑ה

dim·‘āh;

of tears ､

וְאֶבְכֶּה֙

wə·’eḇ·keh

that I might weep

יוֹמָ֣ם

yō·w·mām

וָלַ֔יְלָה

wā·lay·lāh,

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

חַֽלְלֵ֥י

ḥal·lê

בַת־

ḇaṯ-

of the daughter

! עַמִּֽי׃

‘am·mî.

of my people !

מִֽי־

mî-

יִתְּנֵ֣נִי

yit·tə·nê·nî

will give me

בַמִּדְבָּ֗ר

ḇam·miḏ·bār,

in the wilderness

מְלוֹן֙

mə·lō·wn

a lodging place for

– אֹֽרְחִ֔ים

’ō·rə·ḥîm,

וְאֶֽעֶזְבָה֙

wə·’e·‘ez·ḇāh

that I might leave

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ עַמִּ֔י

‘am·mî,

my people ､

וְאֵלְכָ֖ה

wə·’ê·lə·ḵāh

and go

מֵֽאִתָּ֑ם

mê·’it·tām;

כִּ֤י

kî

כֻלָּם֙

ḵul·lām

､ מְנָ֣אֲפִ֔ים

mə·nā·’ă·p̄îm,

עֲצֶ֖רֶת

‘ă·ṣe·reṯ

. בֹּגְדִֽים׃

bō·ḡə·ḏîm.

of treacherous men .

וַֽיַּדְרְכ֤וּ

way·yaḏ·rə·ḵū

And they have bent

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

לְשׁוֹנָם֙

lə·šō·w·nām

קַשְׁתָּ֣ם

qaš·tām

[like] their bow

– שֶׁ֔קֶר

še·qer,

[for] lies –

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

לֶאֱמוּנָ֖ה

le·’ĕ·mū·nāh

גָּבְר֣וּ

gā·ḇə·rū

they are valiant

– בָאָ֑רֶץ

ḇā·’ā·reṣ;

on the earth –

כִּי֩

kî

מֵרָעָ֨ה

mê·rā·‘āh

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ רָעָ֧ה ׀

rā·‘āh

evil ､

יָצָ֛אוּ

yā·ṣā·’ū

וְאֹתִ֥י

and Me

not

יָדָ֖עוּ

נְאֻם־

. יְהוָֽה׃

– אָ֖ח

אַל־

’al-

not

תִּבְטָ֑חוּ

tiḇ·ṭā·ḥū;

כִּ֤י

kî

כָל־

ḵāl

אָח֙

’āḥ

עָק֣וֹב

‘ā·qō·wḇ

､ יַעְקֹ֔ב

ya‘·qōḇ,

will supplant ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

רֵ֖עַ

rê·a‘

רָכִ֥יל

rā·ḵîl

with slanderers

. יַהֲלֹֽךְ׃

ya·hă·lōḵ.

will walk .

וְאִ֤ישׁ

wə·’îš

､ בְּרֵעֵ֙הוּ֙

bə·rê·‘ê·hū

his neighbor ､

יְהָתֵ֔לּוּ

yə·hā·ṯêl·lū,

､ וֶאֱמֶ֖ת

we·’ĕ·meṯ

and the truth ､

לֹ֣א

lō

not

יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ

yə·ḏab·bê·rū;

will speak

לִמְּד֧וּ

lim·mə·ḏū

they have taught

לְשׁוֹנָ֛ם

lə·šō·w·nām

דַּבֶּר־

dab·ber-

､ שֶׁ֖קֶר

še·qer

lies ､

הַעֲוֵ֥ה

ha·‘ă·wêh

to commit iniquity

. נִלְאֽוּ׃

nil·’ū.

they weary themselves .

שִׁבְתְּךָ֖

šiḇ·tə·ḵā

Your dwelling place [is]

בְּת֣וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

in the midst

– מִרְמָ֑ה

mir·māh;

of deceit –

בְּמִרְמָ֛ה

bə·mir·māh

מֵאֲנ֥וּ

mê·’ă·nū

דַֽעַת־

ḏa·‘aṯ-

אוֹתִ֖י

’ō·w·ṯî

Me

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהוָֽה׃

I will refine them

מִפְּנֵ֖י

with

their tongue [is]

with his mouth ､

I will take up

בְכִ֣י

､ וָנֶ֗הִי

and wailing ､

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and for

נְא֤וֹת

nə·’ō·wṯ

the dwelling places

מִדְבָּר֙

miḏ·bār

of the wilderness

､ קִינָ֔ה

qî·nāh,

a lamentation ､

כִּ֤י

kî

､ נִצְּתוּ֙

niṣ·ṣə·ṯū

they are burned up ､

מִבְּלִי־

mib·bə·lî-

so that no one

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

עֹבֵ֔ר

‘ō·ḇêr,

can pass through

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

שָׁמְע֖וּ

šā·mə·‘ū

ק֣וֹל

qō·wl

– מִקְנֶ֑ה

miq·neh;

of the cattle –

מֵע֤וֹף

mê·‘ō·wp̄

הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙

haš·šā·ma·yim

of the heavens

וְעַד־

wə·‘aḏ-

and to

בְּהֵמָ֔ה

bə·hê·māh,

– נָדְד֖וּ

nā·ḏə·ḏū

. הָלָֽכוּ׃

hā·lā·ḵū.

they are gone .

וְנָתַתִּ֧י

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

And I will make

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֛ם

yə·rū·šā·lim

､ לְגַלִּ֖ים

lə·ḡal·lîm

a heap of [ruins] ､

מְע֣וֹן

mə·‘ō·wn

– תַּנִּ֑ים

tan·nîm;

of jackals –

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

עָרֵ֧י

‘ā·rê

יְהוּדָ֛ה

yə·hū·ḏāh

אֶתֵּ֥ן

’et·tên

I will make

､ שְׁמָמָ֖ה

šə·mā·māh

מִבְּלִ֖י

mib·bə·lî

. יוֹשֵֽׁב׃

yō·wō·šêḇ.

an inhabitant .

Who [is]

､ הָאִ֤ישׁ

the man ､

הֶֽחָכָם֙

he·ḥā·ḵām

וְיָבֵ֣ן

wə·yā·ḇên

and who may understand

אֶת־

’eṯ-

؟ זֹ֔את

zōṯ,

וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר

wa·’ă·šer

and [who is he] to whom

､ דִּבֶּ֧ר

dib·ber

פִּֽי־

pî-

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

אֵלָ֖יו

’ê·lāw

וְיַגִּדָ֑הּ

wə·yag·gi·ḏāh;

that he may declare it

עַל־

‘al-

מָה֙

māh

אָבְדָ֣ה

’ā·ḇə·ḏāh

הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the land

נִצְּתָ֥ה

niṣ·ṣə·ṯāh

[and] burn up

､ כַמִּדְבָּ֖ר

ḵam·miḏ·bār

like a wilderness ､

מִבְּלִ֖י

mib·bə·lî

so that no one

؟ עֹבֵֽר׃

‘ō·ḇêr.

can pass through ؟

and said ､

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

עַל־

‘al-

עָזְבָם֙

‘ā·zə·ḇām

they have forsaken

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

תּ֣וֹרָתִ֔י

tō·w·rā·ṯî,

My law

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

נָתַ֖תִּי

nā·ṯat·tî

לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם

lip̄·nê·hem;

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and not

שָׁמְע֥וּ

šā·mə·‘ū

､ בְקוֹלִ֖י

ḇə·qō·w·lî

My voice ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

הָ֥לְכוּ

hā·lə·ḵū

. בָֽהּ׃

ḇāh.

according to it .

וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ

way·yê·lə·ḵū,

But they have walked

אַחֲרֵ֖י

’a·ḥă·rê

שְׁרִר֣וּת

šə·ri·rūṯ

､ לִבָּ֑ם

lib·bām;

of their own hearts ､

וְאַחֲרֵי֙

wə·’a·ḥă·rê

､ הַבְּעָלִ֔ים

hab·bə·‘ā·lîm,

the Baals ､

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

לִמְּד֖וּם

lim·mə·ḏūm

. אֲבוֹתָֽם׃

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām.

their fathers .

the God

of Israel –

הִנְנִ֧י

hin·nî

מַאֲכִילָ֛ם

ma·’ă·ḵî·lām

I will feed them

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָעָ֥ם

hā·‘ām

הַזֶּ֖ה

haz·zeh

､ לַֽעֲנָ֑ה

la·‘ă·nāh;

with wormwood ､

וְהִשְׁקִיתִ֖ים

wə·hiš·qî·ṯîm

and give them to drink

מֵי־

mê-

. רֹֽאשׁ׃

rōš.

of gall .

וַהֲפִֽצוֹתִים֙

wa·hă·p̄i·ṣō·w·ṯîm

And I will scatter them

､ בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם

bag·gō·w·yim,

among the Gentiles ､

אֲשֶׁר֙

’ă·šer

לֹ֣א

lō

– יָֽדְע֔וּ

yā·ḏə·‘ū,

הֵ֖מָּה

hêm·māh

וַֽאֲבוֹתָ֑ם

wa·’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām;

nor their fathers

וְשִׁלַּחְתִּ֤י

wə·šil·laḥ·tî

and I will send

אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם֙

’a·ḥă·rê·hem

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַחֶ֔רֶב

ha·ḥe·reḇ,

עַ֥ד

‘aḏ

כַּלּוֹתִ֖י

kal·lō·w·ṯî

I have consumed

. אוֹתָֽם׃

’ō·w·ṯām.

Weeping in Jerusalem

יְהוָ֣ה

､ צְבָא֔וֹת

of hosts ､

הִתְבּֽוֹנְנ֛וּ

hiṯ·bō·wn·nū

וְקִרְא֥וּ

wə·qir·’ū

and call

､ לַמְקוֹנְנ֖וֹת

lam·qō·wn·nō·wṯ

for the mourning women ､

– וּתְבוֹאֶ֑ינָה

ū·ṯə·ḇō·w·’e·nāh;

that they may come –

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and for

הַחֲכָמ֥וֹת

ha·ḥă·ḵā·mō·wṯ

skillful wailing women

שִׁלְח֖וּ

šil·ḥū

! וְתָבֽוֹאנָה׃

wə·ṯā·ḇō·w·nāh.

that they may come !

､ וּתְמַהֵ֕רְנָה

ū·ṯə·ma·hê·rə·nāh

and let them make haste ､

וְתִשֶּׂ֥נָה

wə·ṯiś·śe·nāh

and take up

עָלֵ֖ינוּ

‘ā·lê·nū

for us

נֶ֑הִי

ne·hî;

וְתֵרַ֤דְנָה

wə·ṯê·raḏ·nāh

עֵינֵ֙ינוּ֙

‘ê·nê·nū

､ דִּמְעָ֔ה

dim·‘āh,

with tears ､

וְעַפְעַפֵּ֖ינוּ

wə·‘ap̄·‘ap·pê·nū

and our eyelids

יִזְּלוּ־

yiz·zə·lū-

. מָֽיִם׃

mā·yim.

with water .

כִּ֣י

kî

ק֥וֹל

qō·wl

נְהִ֛י

nə·hî

נִשְׁמַ֥ע

niš·ma‘

מִצִּיּ֖וֹן

miṣ·ṣî·yō·wn

אֵ֣יךְ

! שֻׁדָּ֑דְנוּ

are we plundered !

､ בֹּ֤שְׁנֽוּ

we are ashamed ､

מְאֹד֙

עָזַ֣בְנוּ

we have forsaken

､ אָ֔רֶץ

’ā·reṣ,

the land ､

כִּ֥י

kî

הִשְׁלִ֖יכוּ

we have been cast out

. מִשְׁכְּנוֹתֵֽינוּ׃

miš·kə·nō·w·ṯê·nū.

of our dwellings .

and let receive

אָזְנְכֶ֖ם

the word

､ פִּ֑יו

pîw;

of His mouth ､

וְלַמֵּ֤דְנָה

wə·lam·mê·ḏə·nāh

בְנֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙

ḇə·nō·w·ṯê·ḵem

､ נֶ֔הִי

ne·hî,

וְאִשָּׁ֥ה

wə·’iš·šāh

רְעוּתָ֖הּ

rə·‘ū·ṯāh

. קִינָֽה׃

qî·nāh.

a lamentation .

כִּֽי־

kî-

עָ֤לָה

‘ā·lāh

מָ֙וֶת֙

mā·weṯ

､ בְּחַלּוֹנֵ֔ינוּ

bə·ḥal·lō·w·nê·nū,

through our windows ､

בָּ֖א

bā

､ בְּאַרְמְנוֹתֵ֑ינוּ

bə·’ar·mə·nō·w·ṯê·nū;

our palaces ､

לְהַכְרִ֤ית

lə·haḵ·rîṯ

עוֹלָל֙

‘ō·w·lāl

the sons

､ מִח֔וּץ

mi·ḥūṣ,

[no longer to be] outside ､

בַּחוּרִ֖ים

ba·ḥū·rîm

[And] the young men

. מֵרְחֹבֽוֹת׃

mê·rə·ḥō·ḇō·wṯ.

[no longer] on the streets .

､ דַּבֵּ֗ר

dab·bêr,

כֹּ֚ה

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וְנָֽפְלָה֙

wə·nā·p̄ə·lāh

and Even shall fall

נִבְלַ֣ת

niḇ·laṯ

הָֽאָדָ֔ם

hā·’ā·ḏām,

of men

כְּדֹ֖מֶן

kə·ḏō·men

עַל־

‘al-

on

פְּנֵ֣י

pə·nê

､ הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה

haś·śā·ḏeh;

the field ､

וּכְעָמִ֛יר

ū·ḵə·‘ā·mîr

and Like cuttings

מֵאַחֲרֵ֥י

mê·’a·ḥă·rê

､ הַקֹּצֵ֖ר

haq·qō·ṣêr

the harvester ､

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and no one

. מְאַסֵּֽף׃

mə·’as·sêp̄.

shall gather [them] .

יִתְהַלֵּ֤ל

חָכָם֙

the wise [man]

､ בְּחָכְמָת֔וֹ

bə·ḥā·ḵə·mā·ṯōw,

in his wisdom ､

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

and not

יִתְהַלֵּ֥ל

yiṯ·hal·lêl

הַגִּבּ֖וֹר

hag·gib·bō·wr

the mighty [man]

､ בִּגְבֽוּרָת֑וֹ

biḡ·ḇū·rā·ṯōw;

in his might ､

אַל־

’al-

יִתְהַלֵּ֥ל

yiṯ·hal·lêl

עָשִׁ֖יר

‘ā·šîr

the rich [man]

– בְּעָשְׁרֽוֹ׃

bə·‘ā·šə·rōw.

in his riches –

כִּ֣י

kî

אִם־

’im-

but

､ בְּזֹ֞את

bə·zōṯ

in this ､

יִתְהַלֵּ֣ל

yiṯ·hal·lêl

let him who glories

הַמִּתְהַלֵּ֗ל

ham·miṯ·hal·lêl,

הַשְׂכֵּל֮

haś·kêl

that he understands

וְיָדֹ֣עַ

wə·yā·ḏō·a‘

אוֹתִי֒

’ō·w·ṯî

Me

כִּ֚י

kî

אֲנִ֣י

’ă·nî

I [am]

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

עֹ֥שֶׂה

‘ō·śeh

､ חֶ֛סֶד

ḥe·seḏ

lovingkindness ､

､ מִשְׁפָּ֥ט

miš·pāṭ

､ וּצְדָקָ֖ה

ū·ṣə·ḏā·qāh

and righteousness ､

– בָּאָ֑רֶץ

bā·’ā·reṣ;

in the earth –

כִּֽי־

kî-

בְאֵ֥לֶּה

ḇə·’êl·leh

､ חָפַ֖צְתִּי

ḥā·p̄aṣ·tî

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

the days

､ בָּאִ֖ים

bā·’îm

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וּפָ֣קַדְתִּ֔י

that I will punish

עַל־

‘al-

כָּל־

kāl-

[who are] circumcised

– בְּעָרְלָֽה׃

bə·‘ā·rə·lāh.

with the uncircumcised –

עַל־

‘al-

､ מִצְרַ֣יִם

miṣ·ra·yim

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

､ יְהוּדָ֗ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

､ אֱד֞וֹם

’ĕ·ḏō·wm

Edom ､

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

בְּנֵ֤י

bə·nê

the sons

､ עַמּוֹן֙

‘am·mō·wn

of Ammon ､

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

､ מוֹאָ֔ב

mō·w·’āḇ,

Moab ､

וְעַל֙

wə·‘al

and

כָּל־

kāl-

all [who are] in

קְצוּצֵ֣י

qə·ṣū·ṣê

､ פֵאָ֔ה

p̄ê·’āh,

the corners ､

הַיֹּשְׁבִ֖ים

hay·yō·šə·ḇîm

– בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר

bam·miḏ·bār;

in the wilderness –

כִּ֤י

kî

כָל־

ḵāl

הַגּוֹיִם֙

hag·gō·w·yim

[these] nations

､ עֲרֵלִ֔ים

‘ă·rê·lîm,

[are] uncircumcised ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

עַרְלֵי־

‘ar·lê-

[are] uncircumcised

. לֵֽב׃

lêḇ.

in the heart .
