Job: who Can Understand God's Majesty

וַיַּ֥עַן

way·ya·‘an

אִיּ֗וֹב

’î·yō·wḇ,

､ וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

way·yō·mar.

and said ､

מֶה־

meh-

עָזַ֥רְתָּ

‘ā·zar·tā

have you helped [him who is]

לְלֹא־

lə·lō-

؟ כֹ֑חַ

ḵō·aḥ;

ה֝וֹשַׁ֗עְתָּ

hō·wō·ša‘·tā,

[How] have you saved

זְר֣וֹעַ

zə·rō·w·a‘

the arm [that has]

לֹא־

lō-

no

؟ עֹֽז׃

‘ōz.

מַה־

mah-

יָּ֭עַצְתָּ

yā·‘aṣ·tā

have you counseled

לְלֹ֣א

lə·lō

no

؟ חָכְמָ֑ה

ḥāḵ·māh

[one who has] wisdom ؟

וְ֝תוּשִׁיָּ֗ה

wə·ṯū·šî·yāh,

and sound advice

לָרֹ֥ב

lā·rōḇ

. הוֹדָֽעְתָּ׃

hō·w·ḏā·‘ə·tā.

[how] have you declared .

אֶת־

To

הִגַּ֣דְתָּ

hig·gaḏ·tā

have you uttered

؟ מִלִּ֑ין

mil·lîn;

וְנִשְׁמַת־

wə·niš·maṯ-

and the spirit

מִ֝י

יָצְאָ֥ה

yā·ṣə·’āh

. מִמֶּֽךָּ׃

mim·me·kā.

הָרְפָאִ֥ים

hā·rə·p̄ā·’îm

The dead

יְחוֹלָ֑לוּ

yə·ḥō·w·lā·lū;

מִתַּ֥חַת

mit·ta·ḥaṯ

､ מַ֝֗יִם

ma·yim,

the waters ､

. וְשֹׁכְנֵיהֶֽם׃

wə·šō·ḵə·nê·hem.

and those inhabiting them .

עָר֣וֹם

‘ā·rō·wm

שְׁא֣וֹל

šə·’ō·wl

Sheol [is]

נֶגְדּ֑וֹ

neḡ·dōw;

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and no

כְּ֝ס֗וּת

kə·sūṯ,

. לָֽאֲבַדּֽוֹן׃

lā·’ă·ḇad·dō·wn.

נֹטֶ֣ה

nō·ṭeh

He stretches out

צָפ֣וֹן

ṣā·p̄ō·wn

עַל־

‘al-

､ תֹּ֑הוּ

tō·hū;

the empty space ､

תֹּ֥לֶה

tō·leh

[He] hangs

אֶ֝֗רֶץ

’e·reṣ,

עַל־

‘al-

on

בְּלִי־

bə·lî-

. מָֽה׃

māh.

what [is] .

צֹרֵֽר־

ṣō·rêr-

He binds up

מַ֥יִם

ma·yim

– בְּעָבָ֑יו

bə·‘ā·ḇāw;

in His thick clouds –

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and yet not

נִבְקַ֖ע

niḇ·qa‘

עָנָ֣ן

‘ā·nān

. תַּחְתָּֽם׃

taḥ·tām.

under it .

מְאַחֵ֥ז

mə·’a·ḥêz

פְּנֵי־

pə·nê-

the face

､ כִסֵּ֑ה

ḵis·sêh;

of [His] throne ､

פַּרְשֵׁ֖ז

par·šêz

עָלָ֣יו

‘ā·lāw

. עֲנָנֽוֹ׃

‘ă·nā·nōw.

､ חֹֽק־

ḥōq-

A circular [horizon] ､

חָ֭ג

ḥāḡ

עַל־

‘al-

on

פְּנֵי־

pə·nê-

the face

מָ֑יִם

mā·yim;

of the waters

עַד־

‘aḏ-

at

. תַּכְלִ֖ית

taḵ·lîṯ

א֣וֹר

’ō·wr

עִם־

‘im-

and

. חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃

ḥō·šeḵ.

עַמּוּדֵ֣י

‘am·mū·ḏê

שָׁמַ֣יִם

šā·ma·yim

יְרוֹפָ֑פוּ

yə·rō·w·p̄ā·p̄ū;

וְ֝יִתְמְה֗וּ

wə·yiṯ·mə·hū,

and are astonished

. מִגַּעֲרָתֽוֹ׃

mig·ga·‘ă·rā·ṯōw.

at His rebuke .

､ בְּ֭כֹחוֹ

bə·ḵō·ḥōw

With His power ､

רָגַ֣ע

rā·ḡa‘

He stirs up

הַיָּ֑ם

hay·yām;

the sea

[ובתובנתו]

ū·ḇi·ṯū·ḇə·nā·ṯōw

-

(וּ֝בִתְבוּנָת֗וֹ)

ū·ḇiṯ·ḇū·nā·ṯōw,

and by His understanding

מָ֣חַץ

mā·ḥaṣ

He breaks up

. רָֽהַב׃

rā·haḇ.

the storm .

בְּ֭רוּחוֹ

bə·rū·ḥōw

– שָׁמַ֣יִם

šā·ma·yim

the heavens –

שִׁפְרָ֑ה

šip̄·rāh;

חֹֽלֲלָ֥ה

ḥō·lă·lāh

יָ֝ד֗וֹ

yā·ḏōw,

נָחָ֥שׁ

nā·ḥāš

. בָּרִֽיחַ׃

bā·rî·aḥ.

､ הֶן־

hen-

אֵ֤לֶּה ׀

’êl·leh

קְצ֬וֹת

qə·ṣō·wṯ

the [mere] edges

[דרכו]

dar·kōw

of

– (דְּרָכָ֗יו)

də·rā·ḵāw,

וּמַה־

ū·mah-

and how

שֵּׁ֣מֶץ

šê·meṣ

דָּ֭בָר

dā·ḇār

נִשְׁמַע־

niš·ma‘-

בּ֑וֹ

bōw;

of Him

וְרַ֥עַם

wə·ra·‘am

but the thunder

[גבורתו]

gə·ḇū·rā·ṯōw

of

(גְּ֝בוּרוֹתָ֗יו‪‬)

gə·ḇū·rō·w·ṯāw,

מִ֣י

mî

؟ יִתְבּוֹנָֽן׃

yiṯ·bō·w·nān.

can understand ؟
