וַיֹּ֣סֶף

אִ֭יּוֹב

’î·yō·wḇ

שְׂאֵ֥ת

śə·’êṯ

､ מְשָׁל֗וֹ

mə·šā·lōw,

his discourse ､

､ וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

way·yō·mar.

and said ､

מִֽי־

mî-

יִתְּנֵ֥נִי

yit·tə·nê·nî

will put me

כְיַרְחֵי־

ḵə·yar·ḥê-

as [in] months

､ קֶ֑דֶם

qe·ḏem;

past ､

כִּ֝ימֵ֗י

kî·mê,

as [in] the days [when]

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

’ĕ·lō·w·ah

. יִשְׁמְרֵֽנִי׃

yiš·mə·rê·nî.

watched over me .

בְּהִלּ֣וֹ

bə·hil·lōw

נֵ֭רוֹ

nê·rōw

עֲלֵ֣י

‘ă·lê

､ רֹאשִׁ֑י

rō·šî;

my head ､

לְ֝אוֹרוֹ

lə·’ō·w·rōw

[And when] by His light

אֵ֣לֶךְ

’ê·leḵ

– חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃

ḥō·šeḵ.

[through] darkness –

כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר

ka·’ă·šer

הָ֭יִיתִי

hā·yî·ṯî

בִּימֵ֣י

bî·mê

in the days

､ חָרְפִּ֑י

ḥā·rə·pî;

of my prime ､

בְּס֥וֹד

bə·sō·wḏ

when the friendly counsel

אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ

’ĕ·lō·w·ah,

of God [was]

עֲלֵ֣י

‘ă·lê

– אָהֳלִֽי׃

’ā·ho·lî.

my tent –

בְּע֣וֹד

bə·‘ō·wḏ

שַׁ֭דַּי

day

the Almighty [was]

עִמָּדִ֑י

‘im·mā·ḏî;

with me

סְבִ֖יבוֹתַ֣י

sə·ḇî·ḇō·w·ṯay

. נְעָרָֽי׃

nə·‘ā·rāy.

[when] my children [were] .

בִּרְחֹ֣ץ

bir·ḥōṣ

When were bathed

הֲלִיכַ֣י

hă·lî·ḵay

､ בְּחֵמָ֑ה

bə·ḥê·māh;

with cream ､

וְצ֥וּר

wə·ṣūr

and the rock

יָצ֥וּק

yā·ṣūq

עִ֝מָּדִ֗י

‘im·mā·ḏî,

for me

פַּלְגֵי־

pal·ḡê-

– שָֽׁמֶן׃

šā·men.

of oil –

בְּצֵ֣אתִי

bə·ṣê·ṯî

when I went out

שַׁ֣עַר

ša·‘ar

to the gate

עֲלֵי־

‘ă·lê-

by

､ קָ֑רֶת

qā·reṯ;

the city ､

! בָּ֝רְח֗וֹב

bā·rə·ḥō·wḇ,

in the open square !

אָכִ֥ין

’ā·ḵîn

. מוֹשָׁבִֽי׃

mō·wō·šā·ḇî.

my seat .

רָא֣וּנִי

rā·’ū·nî

Saw me

נְעָרִ֣ים

nə·‘ā·rîm

– וְנֶחְבָּ֑אוּ

wə·neḥ·bā·’ū;

and hid –

וִֽ֝ישִׁישִׁים

wî·šî·šîm

and the aged

､ קָ֣מוּ

qā·mū

. עָמָֽדוּ׃

‘ā·mā·ḏū.

[and] stood .

שָׂ֭רִים

rîm

עָצְר֣וּ

‘ā·ṣə·rū

､ בְמִלִּ֑ים

ḇə·mil·lîm;

from talking ､

וְ֝כַ֗ף

wə·ḵap̄,

and [their] hand

יָשִׂ֥ימוּ

yā·śî·mū

. לְפִיהֶֽם׃

lə·p̄î·hem.

on their mouth .

､ קוֹל־

qō·wl-

The voice ､

נְגִידִ֥ים

nə·ḡî·ḏîm

נֶחְבָּ֑אוּ

neḥ·bā·’ū;

וּ֝לְשׁוֹנָ֗ם

ū·lə·šō·w·nām,

and their tongue

לְחִכָּ֥ם

lə·ḥik·kām

to the roof of their mouth

. דָּבֵֽקָה׃

dā·ḇê·qāh.

כִּ֤י

kî

אֹ֣זֶן

’ō·zen

the ear

שָׁ֭מְעָה

mə·‘āh

וַֽתְּאַשְּׁרֵ֑נִי

wat·tə·’aš·šə·rê·nî;

then it blessed me

וְעַ֥יִן

wə·‘a·yin

and when the eye

רָ֝אֲתָ֗ה

rā·’ă·ṯāh,

. וַתְּעִידֵֽנִי׃

wat·tə·‘î·ḏê·nî.

then it approved me .

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֲ֭מַלֵּט

’ă·mal·lêṭ

עָנִ֣י

‘ā·nî

the poor

､ מְשַׁוֵּ֑עַ

mə·šaw·wê·a‘;

who cried out ､

､ וְ֝יָת֗וֹם

wə·yā·ṯō·wm,

and the fatherless ､

וְֽלֹא־

wə·lō-

and no

עֹזֵ֥ר

‘ō·zêr

[the one who] had helper

. לֽוֹ׃

lōw.

to .

בִּרְכַּ֣ת

bir·kaṯ

אֹ֭בֵד

’ō·ḇêḏ

of a perishing [man]

עָלַ֣י

‘ā·lay

תָּבֹ֑א

tā·ḇō;

וְלֵ֖ב

wə·lêḇ

and the heart

אַלְמָנָ֣ה

’al·mā·nāh

. אַרְנִֽן׃

’ar·nin.

I caused to sing for joy .

､ צֶ֣דֶק

ṣe·ḏeq

Righteousness ､

לָ֭בַשְׁתִּי

lā·ḇaš·tî

I put on

וַיִּלְבָּשֵׁ֑נִי

way·yil·bā·šê·nî;

and it clothed me

כִּֽמְעִ֥יל

kim·‘îl

וְ֝צָנִ֗יף

wə·ṣā·nîp̄,

and a turban

. מִשְׁפָּטִֽי׃

miš·pā·ṭî.

My justice [was] .

עֵינַ֣יִם

‘ê·na·yim

הָ֭יִיתִי

hā·yî·ṯî

I [was]

､ לַֽעִוֵּ֑ר

la·‘iw·wêr;

to the blind ､

וְרַגְלַ֖יִם

wə·raḡ·la·yim

and feet

לַפִּסֵּ֣חַ

lap·pis·sê·aḥ

to the lame

. אָֽנִי׃

’ā·nî.

I [was] .

אָ֣ב

’āḇ

אָ֭נֹכִֽי

’ā·nō·ḵî

I [was]

､ לָֽאֶבְיוֹנִ֑ים

lā·’eḇ·yō·w·nîm;

to the poor ､

וְרִ֖ב

wə·riḇ

and the case

לֹא־

lō-

not

יָדַ֣עְתִּי

yā·ḏa‘·tî

[that] I did know

. אֶחְקְרֵֽהוּ׃

’eḥ·qə·rê·hū.

I searched out .

וָֽ֭אֲשַׁבְּרָה

wā·’ă·šab·bə·rāh

And I broke

מְתַלְּע֣וֹת

mə·ṯal·lə·‘ō·wṯ

､ עַוָּ֑ל

‘aw·wāl;

of the wicked ､

וּ֝מִשִּׁנָּ֗יו

ū·miš·šin·nāw,

and from his teeth

אַשְׁלִ֥יךְ

’aš·lîḵ

. טָֽרֶף׃

ṭā·rep̄.

the victim .

､ וָ֭אֹמַר

wā·’ō·mar

And I said ､

עִם־

‘im-

in

､ קִנִּ֣י

qin·nî

my nest ､

אֶגְוָ֑ע

’eḡ·wā‘;

וְ֝כַח֗וֹל

wə·ḵa·ḥō·wl,

and as the sand

אַרְבֶּ֥ה

’ar·beh

. יָמִֽים׃

yā·mîm.

[my] days .

שָׁרְשִׁ֣י

šā·rə·šî

פָת֣וּחַ

p̄ā·ṯū·aḥ

[is] spread out

אֱלֵי־

’ĕ·lê-

to

､ מָ֑יִם

mā·yim;

the waters ､

וְ֝טַ֗ל

wə·ṭal,

and the dew

יָלִ֥ין

yā·lîn

. בִּקְצִירִֽי׃

biq·ṣî·rî.

on my branch .

כְּ֭בוֹדִי

kə·ḇō·w·ḏî

My glory [is]

חָדָ֣שׁ

ḥā·ḏāš

עִמָּדִ֑י

‘im·mā·ḏî;

וְ֝קַשְׁתִּ֗י

wə·qaš·tî,

and my bow

בְּיָדִ֥י

bə·yā·ḏî

in my hand

. תַחֲלִֽיף׃

ṯa·ḥă·lîp̄.

לִֽי־

lî-

To me

､ שָׁמְע֥וּ

šā·mə·‘ū

[Men] listened ､

､ וְיִחֵ֑לּוּ

wə·yi·ḥêl·lū;

and waited ､

וְ֝יִדְּמ֗וּ

wə·yid·də·mū,

and kept silence

לְמ֣וֹ

lə·mōw

. עֲצָתִֽי׃

‘ă·ṣā·ṯî.

אַחֲרֵ֣י

’a·ḥă·rê

דְ֭בָרִי

ḏə·ḇā·rî

לֹ֣א

lō

not

יִשְׁנ֑וּ

yiš·nū;

they did speak again

וְ֝עָלֵ֗ימוֹ

wə·‘ā·lê·mōw,

and on them

תִּטֹּ֥ף

tiṭ·ṭōp̄

settled [as dew]

. מִלָּתִֽי׃

mil·lā·ṯî.

וְיִֽחֲל֣וּ

wə·yi·ḥă·lū

And they waited

– כַמָּטָ֣ר

ḵam·mā·ṭār

[as] for the rain –

לִ֑י

lî;

for me

וּ֝פִיהֶ֗ם

ū·p̄î·hem,

and their mouth

פָּעֲר֥וּ

pā·‘ă·rū

they opened wide

. לְמַלְקֽוֹשׁ׃

lə·mal·qō·wōš.

[as] for the spring rain .

אֶשְׂחַ֣ק

’eś·ḥaq

[If] I mocked

אֲ֭לֵהֶם

’ă·lê·hem

– לֹ֣א

lō

not –

יַאֲמִ֑ינוּ

ya·’ă·mî·nū;

they did believe [it]

וְא֥וֹר

wə·’ō·wr

and the light

פָּ֝נַ֗י

pā·nay,

of my countenance

לֹ֣א

lō

not

. יַפִּילֽוּן׃

yap·pî·lūn.

they did cast down .

אֶֽבֲחַ֣ר

’e·ḇă·ḥar

､ דַּרְכָּם֮

dar·kām

the way for them ､

וְאֵשֵׁ֪ב

wə·’ê·šêḇ

and sat

､ רֹ֥אשׁ

rōš

as chief ､

וְ֭אֶשְׁכּוֹן

wə·’eš·kō·wn

so I dwelt

כְּמֶ֣לֶךְ

kə·me·leḵ

as a king

､ בַּגְּד֑וּד

bag·gə·ḏūḏ;

in the army ､

כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

אֲבֵלִ֣ים

’ă·ḇê·lîm

[ones] mourning

. יְנַחֵֽם׃

yə·na·ḥêm.

one [who] comforts .
