Elihu Proclaims God's Majesty

לְ֭זֹאת

lə·zōṯ

､ יֶחֱרַ֣ד

ye·ḥĕ·raḏ

לִבִּ֑י

lib·bî;

וְ֝יִתַּ֗ר

wə·yit·tar,

. מִמְּקוֹמֽוֹ׃

mim·mə·qō·w·mōw.

from its place .

שִׁמְע֤וּ

šim·‘ū

שָׁמ֣וֹעַ

šā·mō·w·a‘

בְּרֹ֣גֶז

bə·rō·ḡez

､ קֹל֑וֹ

qō·lōw;

of His voice ､

וְ֝הֶ֗גֶה

wə·he·ḡeh,

and the rumbling

מִפִּ֥יו

mip·pîw

. יֵצֵֽא׃

yê·ṣê.

תַּֽחַת־

ta·ḥaṯ-

כָּל־

kāl-

､ הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim

Sky ､

יִשְׁרֵ֑הוּ

yiš·rê·hū;

וְ֝אוֹר֗וֹ

wə·’ō·w·rōw,

עַל־

‘al-

and sends it

כַּנְפ֥וֹת

kan·p̄ō·wṯ

to the ends

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

of the earth .

אַחֲרָ֤יו ׀

’a·ḥă·rāw

– יִשְׁאַג־

yiš·’aḡ-

ק֗וֹל

qō·wl,

יַ֭רְעֵם

yar·‘êm

בְּק֣וֹל

bə·qō·wl

with voice

– גְּאוֹנ֑וֹ

gə·’ō·w·nōw;

His majestic –

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

יְ֝עַקְּבֵ֗ם

yə·‘aq·qə·ḇêm,

He does restrain them

כִּֽי־

kî-

יִשָּׁמַ֥ע

yiš·šā·ma‘

. קוֹלֽוֹ׃

qō·w·lōw.

יַרְעֵ֤ם

yar·‘êm

אֵ֣ל

’êl

– בְּ֭קוֹלוֹ

bə·qō·w·lōw

with His voice –

נִפְלָא֑וֹת

nip̄·lā·’ō·wṯ;

עֹשֶׂ֥ה

‘ō·śeh

גְ֝דֹל֗וֹת

ḡə·ḏō·lō·wṯ,

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

. נֵדָֽע׃

nê·ḏā‘.

which we comprehend .

כִּ֤י

kî

､ לַשֶּׁ֨לַג ׀‪‬

laš·še·laḡ

to the snow ､

יֹאמַ֗ר

yō·mar,

הֱוֵ֫א

hĕ·wê

– אָ֥רֶץ

’ā·reṣ

[on] the earth –

､ וְגֶ֥שֶׁם

wə·ḡe·šem

and Likewise to the rain ､

מָטָ֑ר

mā·ṭār;

וְ֝גֶ֗שֶׁם

wə·ḡe·šem,

and the rain

מִטְר֥וֹת

miṭ·rō·wṯ

. עֻזּֽוֹ׃

‘uz·zōw.

בְּיַד־

bə·yaḏ-

The hand

כָּל־

kāl-

– אָדָ֥ם

’ā·ḏām

man –

יַחְתּ֑וֹם

yaḥ·tō·wm;

לָ֝דַ֗עַת

lā·ḏa·‘aṯ,

כָּל־

kāl-

אַנְשֵׁ֥י

’an·šê

. מַעֲשֵֽׂהוּ׃

ma·‘ă·śê·hū.

וַתָּבֹ֣א

wat·tā·ḇō

and go

חַיָּ֣ה

ḥay·yāh

בְמוֹ־

ḇə·mōw-

､ אָ֑רֶב

’ā·reḇ;

dens ､

וּבִמְע֖וֹנֹתֶ֣יהָ

ū·ḇim·‘ō·w·nō·ṯe·hā

and in their lairs

. תִשְׁכֹּֽן׃

ṯiš·kōn.

מִן־

min-

הַ֭חֶדֶר

ha·ḥe·ḏer

the chamber [of the south]

תָּב֣וֹא

tā·ḇō·w

､ סוּפָ֑ה

sū·p̄āh;

the whirlwind ､

וּֽמִמְּזָרִ֥ים

ū·mim·mə·zā·rîm

and from the scattering winds [of the north]

. קָרָֽה׃

qā·rāh.

מִנִּשְׁמַת־

min·niš·maṯ-

By the breath

אֵ֥ל

’êl

of God

､ יִתֶּן־

yit·ten-

is given ､

קָ֑רַח

qā·raḥ;

וְרֹ֖חַב

wə·rō·ḥaḇ

and the broad

מַ֣יִם

ma·yim

. בְּמוּצָֽק׃

bə·mū·ṣāq.

אַף־

’ap̄-

בְּ֭רִי

bə·rî

יַטְרִ֣יחַ

yaṭ·rî·aḥ

– עָ֑ב

‘āḇ;

the thick clouds –

יָ֝פִ֗יץ

yā·p̄îṣ,

– עֲנַ֣ן

‘ă·nan

. אוֹרֽוֹ׃

’ō·w·rōw.

וְה֤וּא

wə·hū

And he

מְסִבּ֨וֹת ׀

mə·sib·bō·wṯ

מִתְהַפֵּ֣ךְ

miṯ·hap·pêḵ

[בתחבולתו]

bə·ṯaḥ·bū·lā·ṯōw

by His guidance

､ (בְּתַחְבּוּלֹתָ֣יו)

bə·ṯaḥ·bū·lō·ṯāw

by His guidance ､

לְפָעֳלָ֑ם

lə·p̄ā·‘o·lām;

that they may do

כֹּ֖ל

kōl

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

יְצַוֵּ֓ם ׀

yə·ṣaw·wêm

He commands them

עַל־

‘al-

On

פְּנֵ֖י

pə·nê

the face

תֵבֵ֣ל

ṯê·ḇêl

of the whole

. אָֽרְצָה׃

’ā·rə·ṣāh.

אִם־

’im-

､ לְשֵׁ֥בֶט

lə·šê·ḇeṭ

for correction ､

אִם־

’im-

Or

､ לְאַרְצ֑וֹ

lə·’ar·ṣōw;

for His land ､

אִם־

’im-

Or

. לְ֝חֶ֗סֶד

lə·ḥe·seḏ,

､ יַמְצִאֵֽהוּ׃

yam·ṣi·’ê·hū.

He causes it to come ､

הַאֲזִ֣ינָה

ha·’ă·zî·nāh

､ זֹּ֣את

zōṯ

to this ､

､ אִיּ֑וֹב

’î·yō·wḇ;

Job ､

､ עֲ֝מֹ֗ד

‘ă·mōḏ,

Stand still ､

וְהִתְבּוֹנֵ֤ן ׀

wə·hiṯ·bō·w·nên

נִפְלְא֬וֹת

nip̄·lə·’ō·wṯ

the wondrous works

. אֵֽל׃

’êl.

of God .

הֲ֭תֵדַע

hă·ṯê·ḏa‘

בְּשׂוּם־

bə·śūm-

when dispatches

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

’ĕ·lō·w·ah

עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם

‘ă·lê·hem;

؟ וְ֝הוֹפִ֗יעַ

wə·hō·w·p̄î·a‘,

and causes to shine ؟

א֣וֹר

’ō·wr

. עֲנָנֽוֹ׃

‘ă·nā·nōw.

הֲ֭תֵדַע

hă·ṯê·ḏa‘

Do you know how

עַל־

‘al-

מִפְלְשֵׂי־

mip̄·lə·śê-

､ עָ֑ב

‘āḇ;

the clouds ､

מִ֝פְלְא֗וֹת

mip̄·lə·’ō·wṯ,

Those wondrous works

תְּמִ֣ים

tə·mîm

of Him who is perfect in

؟ דֵּעִֽים׃

dê·‘îm.

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

בְּגָדֶ֥יךָ

bə·ḡā·ḏe·ḵā

[are] your garments

､ חַמִּ֑ים

ḥam·mîm;

hot ､

בְּהַשְׁקִ֥ט

bə·haš·qiṭ

אֶ֝֗רֶץ

’e·reṣ,

. מִדָּרֽוֹם׃

mid·dā·rō·wm.

by the south [wind] .

תַּרְקִ֣יעַ

tar·qî·a‘

Have you spread out

עִ֭מּוֹ

‘im·mōw

with Him

､ לִשְׁחָקִ֑ים

liš·ḥā·qîm;

the skies ､

､ חֲ֝זָקִ֗ים

ḥă·zā·qîm,

כִּרְאִ֥י

kir·’î

؟ מוּצָֽק׃

mū·ṣāq.

ה֭וֹדִיעֵנוּ

hō·w·ḏî·‘ê·nū

מַה־

mah-

נֹּ֣אמַר

nō·mar

ל֑וֹ

lōw;

to Him

לֹ֥א־

lō-

נַ֝עֲרֹ֗ךְ

na·‘ă·rōḵ,

[For] we can prepare

מִפְּנֵי־

mip·pə·nê-

. חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃

ḥō·šeḵ.

of the darkness .

הַֽיְסֻפַּר־

hay·sup·par-

ל֭וֹ

lōw

He

כִּ֣י

kî

؟ אֲדַבֵּ֑ר

’ă·ḏab·bêr;

I [wish to] speak ؟

אִֽם־

’im-

if

､ אָ֥מַר

’ā·mar

were to speak ､

אִ֝֗ישׁ

’îš,

כִּ֣י

kî

. יְבֻלָּֽע׃

yə·ḇul·lā‘.

he would be swallowed up .

וְעַתָּ֤ה ׀

wə·‘at·tāh

לֹ֘א

lō

רָ֤אוּ

rā·’ū

א֗וֹר

’ō·wr,

בָּהִ֣יר

bā·hîr

ה֭וּא

hū

[when] it [is]

– בַּשְּׁחָקִ֑ים

baš·šə·ḥā·qîm;

in the skies –

וְר֥וּחַ

wə·rū·aḥ

and when the wind

､ עָ֝בְרָ֗ה

‘ā·ḇə·rāh,

. וַֽתְּטַהֲרֵֽם׃

wat·tə·ṭa·hă·rêm.

and cleared them .

– מִ֭צָּפוֹן

miṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn

From the north –

זָהָ֣ב

zā·hāḇ

[as] golden [splendor]

יֶֽאֱתֶ֑ה

ye·’ĕ·ṯeh;

עַל־

‘al-

with

אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ

’ĕ·lō·w·ah,

God [is]

נ֣וֹרָא

nō·w·rā

. הֽוֹד׃

hō·wḏ.

､ שַׁדַּ֣י

šad·day

As [for] the Almighty ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

– מְ֭צָאנֻהוּ

mə·ṣā·nu·hū

we find Him –

שַׂגִּיא־

śag·gî-

[He is] excellent

､ כֹ֑חַ

ḵō·aḥ;

in power ､

､ וּמִשְׁפָּ֥ט

ū·miš·pāṭ

and [In] judgment ､

וְרֹב־

wə·rōḇ-

צְ֝דָקָ֗ה

ṣə·ḏā·qāh,

לֹ֣א

lō

not

. יְעַנֶּֽה׃

yə·‘an·neh.

He does oppress .

לָ֭כֵן

lā·ḵên

יְרֵא֣וּהוּ

yə·rê·’ū·hū

אֲנָשִׁ֑ים

’ă·nā·šîm;

לֹֽא־

lō-

no

יִ֝רְאֶ֗ה

yir·’eh,

He shows partiality

כָּל־

kāl-

to any

חַכְמֵי־

ḥaḵ·mê-

. לֵֽב׃

lêḇ.

of heart .
