הֲיָדַ֗עְתָּ

hă·yā·ḏa‘·tā,

עֵ֭ת

‘êṯ

؟ לֶ֣דֶת

le·ḏeṯ

יַעֲלֵי־

ya·‘ă·lê-

the wild mountain goats

סָ֑לַע

sā·la‘;

of the rock

؟ חֹלֵ֖ל

ḥō·lêl

when gives birth ؟

אַיָּל֣וֹת

’ay·yā·lō·wṯ

the deer

. תִּשְׁמֹֽר׃

tiš·mōr.

[Or] can you mark .

תִּסְפֹּ֣ר

tis·pōr

יְרָחִ֣ים

yə·rā·ḥîm

؟ תְּמַלֶּ֑אנָה

tə·mal·le·nāh;

[that] they fulfill ؟

וְ֝יָדַ֗עְתָּ

wə·yā·ḏa‘·tā,

Or do you know

עֵ֣ת

‘êṯ

the time

؟ לִדְתָּֽנָה׃

liḏ·tā·nāh.

when they bear young ؟

תִּ֭כְרַעְנָה

tiḵ·ra‘·nāh

､ יַלְדֵיהֶ֣ן

yal·ḏê·hen

their young ､

תְּפַלַּ֑חְנָה

tə·p̄al·laḥ·nāh;

they bring forth

חֶבְלֵיהֶ֥ם

ḥeḇ·lê·hem

their offspring

. תְּשַׁלַּֽחְנָה׃

tə·šal·laḥ·nāh.

､ יַחְלְמ֣וּ

yaḥ·lə·mū

Are healthy ､

בְ֭נֵיהֶם

ḇə·nê·hem

their young ones

יִרְבּ֣וּ

yir·bū

they grow strong

– בַבָּ֑ר

ḇab·bār;

with grain –

､ יָ֝צְא֗וּ

yā·ṣə·’ū,

they depart ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and not

שָׁ֥בוּ

šā·ḇū

. לָֽמוֹ׃

lā·mōw.

to them .

מִֽי־

mî-

שִׁלַּ֣ח

šil·laḥ

פֶּ֣רֶא

pe·re

the wild donkey

؟ חָפְשִׁ֑י

ḥā·p̄ə·šî;

וּמֹסְר֥וֹת

ū·mō·sə·rō·wṯ

and the bonds

؟ עָ֝ר֗וֹד

‘ā·rō·wḏ,

of the onager ؟

מִ֣י

mî

. פִתֵּֽחַ׃

p̄it·tê·aḥ.

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

שַׂ֣מְתִּי

śam·tî

､ עֲרָבָ֣ה

‘ă·rā·ḇāh

the wilderness ､

בֵית֑וֹ

ḇê·ṯōw;

וּֽמִשְׁכְּנוֹתָ֥יו

ū·miš·kə·nō·w·ṯāw

and his dwelling

. מְלֵֽחָה׃

mə·lê·ḥāh.

the barren land .

יִ֭שְׂחַק

yiś·ḥaq

לַהֲמ֣וֹן

la·hă·mō·wn

､ קִרְיָ֑ה

qir·yāh;

of the city ､

תְּשֻׁא֥וֹת

tə·šu·’ō·wṯ

נ֝וֹגֵ֗שׂ

nō·w·ḡêś,

of the driver

לֹ֣א

lō

not

. יִשְׁמָֽע׃

yiš·mā‘.

יְת֣וּר

yə·ṯūr

הָרִ֣ים

hā·rîm

of the mountains

､ מִרְעֵ֑הוּ

mir·‘ê·hū;

[is] his pasture ､

וְאַחַ֖ר

wə·’a·ḥar

כָּל־

kāl-

יָר֣וֹק

yā·rō·wq

. יִדְרֽוֹשׁ׃

yiḏ·rō·wōš.

הֲיֹ֣אבֶה

hă·yō·ḇeh

Will be willing

רֵּ֣ים‪‬

rêm

the wild ox

עָבְדֶ֑ךָ

‘ā·ḇə·ḏe·ḵā;

אִם־

’im-

Or

יָ֝לִ֗ין

yā·lîn,

will he bed

עַל־

‘al-

by

؟ אֲבוּסֶֽךָ׃

’ă·ḇū·se·ḵā.

הֲ‍ֽתִקְשָׁר־

hăṯiq·šār-

רֵ֭ים

rêm

the wild ox

؟ בְּתֶ֣לֶם

bə·ṯe·lem

in the furrow ؟

עֲבֹת֑וֹ

‘ă·ḇō·ṯōw;

with ropes

אִם־

’im-

Or

יְשַׂדֵּ֖ד

yə·śad·dêḏ

will he plow

עֲמָקִ֣ים

‘ă·mā·qîm

. אַחֲרֶֽיךָ׃

’a·ḥă·re·ḵā.

הֲֽתִבְטַח־

hă·ṯiḇ·ṭaḥ-

בּ֭וֹ

bōw

כִּי־

kî-

؟ רַ֣ב

raḇ

כֹּח֑וֹ

kō·ḥōw;

his strength [is]

וְתַעֲזֹ֖ב

wə·ṯa·‘ă·zōḇ

Or will you leave

אֵלָ֣יו

’ê·lāw

to him

. יְגִיעֶֽךָ׃

yə·ḡî·‘e·ḵā.

הֲתַאֲמִ֣ין

hă·ṯa·’ă·mîn

בּ֭וֹ

כִּי־

to

[ישוב]

､ זַרְעֶ֑ךָ

וְֽגָרְנְךָ֥

and to your threshing floor

؟ יֶאֱסֹֽף׃

ye·’ĕ·sōp̄.

gather it ؟

כְּנַף־

kə·nap̄-

؟ רְנָנִ֥ים

rə·nā·nîm

of the ostrich ؟

נֶעֱלָ֑סָה

ne·‘ĕ·lā·sāh;

אִם־

’im-

but

אֶ֝בְרָ֗ה

’eḇ·rāh,

חֲסִידָ֥ה

ḥă·sî·ḏāh

of a stork

؟ וְנֹצָֽה׃

wə·nō·ṣāh.

and feathers ؟

כִּֽי־

kî-

תַעֲזֹ֣ב

ṯa·‘ă·zōḇ

､ לָאָ֣רֶץ

lā·’ā·reṣ

on the ground ､

בֵּצֶ֑יהָ

bê·ṣe·hā;

וְֽעַל־

wə·‘al-

and in

､ עָפָ֥ר

‘ā·p̄ār

the dust ､

. תְּחַמֵּֽם׃

tə·ḥam·mêm.

וַ֭תִּשְׁכַּח

wat·tiš·kaḥ

And she forgets

כִּי־

kî-

רֶ֣גֶל

re·ḡel

תְּזוּרֶ֑הָ

tə·zū·re·hā;

וְחַיַּ֖ת

wə·ḥay·yaṯ

Or that a beast

הַשָּׂדֶ֣ה

haś·śā·ḏeh

. תְּדוּשֶֽׁהָ׃

tə·ḏū·še·hā.

may break them .

הִקְשִׁ֣יחַ

hiq·šî·aḥ

She treats harshly

､ בָּנֶ֣יהָ

bā·ne·hā

לְּלֹא־

lə·lō-

as though not

לָ֑הּ

lāh;

[they were] hers

לְרִ֖יק

lə·rîq

יְגִיעָ֣הּ

yə·ḡî·‘āh

בְּלִי־

bə·lî-

– פָֽחַד׃

p̄ā·ḥaḏ.

כִּֽי־

kî-

הִשָּׁ֣הּ

hiš·šāh

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

’ĕ·lō·w·ah

､ חָכְמָ֑ה

ḥāḵ·māh

of wisdom ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and not

חָ֥לַק

ḥā·laq

לָ֝֗הּ

lāh,

. בַּבִּינָֽה׃

bab·bî·nāh.

with understanding .

כָּ֭עֵת

kā·‘êṯ

､ בַּמָּר֣וֹם

bam·mā·rō·wm

on high ､

תַּמְרִ֑יא

tam·rî;

she lifts herself

תִּֽשְׂחַ֥ק

tiś·ḥaq

לַ֝סּ֗וּס

las·sūs,

. וּלְרֹֽכְבֽוֹ׃

ū·lə·rō·ḵə·ḇōw.

and its rider .

הֲתִתֵּ֣ן

hă·ṯit·tên

לַסּ֣וּס

las·sūs

؟ גְּבוּרָ֑ה

gə·ḇū·rāh;

הֲתַלְבִּ֖ישׁ

hă·ṯal·bîš

have you clothed

צַוָּאר֣וֹ

ṣaw·wā·rōw

؟ רַעְמָֽה׃

ra‘·māh.

with thunder ؟

הְֽ֭תַרְעִישֶׁנּוּ

hə·ṯar·‘î·šen·nū

can you frighten him

؟ כָּאַרְבֶּ֑ה

kā·’ar·beh;

like a locust ؟

ה֖וֹד

hō·wḏ

נַחְר֣וֹ

naḥ·rōw

. אֵימָֽה׃

’ê·māh.

[strikes] terror .

יַחְפְּר֣וּ

yaḥ·pə·rū

､ בָ֭עֵמֶק

ḇā·‘ê·meq

in the valley ､

וְיָשִׂ֣ישׂ

wə·yā·śîś

– בְּכֹ֑חַ

bə·ḵō·aḥ;

in [his] strength –

יֵ֝צֵ֗א

yê·ṣê,

לִקְרַאת־

liq·raṯ-

. נָֽשֶׁק׃

nā·šeq.

of arms .

יִשְׂחַ֣ק

yiś·ḥaq

､ לְ֭פַחַד

lə·p̄a·ḥaḏ

at fear ､

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and not

– יֵחָ֑ת

yê·ḥāṯ;

is frightened –

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

יָ֝שׁ֗וּב

yā·šūḇ,

does he turn back

מִפְּנֵי־

mip·pə·nê-

. חָֽרֶב׃

ḥā·reḇ.

the sword .

עָ֭לָיו

‘ā·lāw

תִּרְנֶ֣ה

tir·neh

אַשְׁפָּ֑ה

’aš·pāh;

לַ֖הַב

la·haḇ

חֲנִ֣ית

ḥă·nîṯ

. וְכִידֽוֹן׃

wə·ḵî·ḏō·wn.

בְּרַ֣עַשׁ

bə·ra·‘aš

With fierceness

– וְ֭רֹגֶז

wə·rō·ḡez

and rage –

יְגַמֶּא־

yə·ḡam·me-

אָ֑רֶץ

’ā·reṣ;

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

יַ֝אֲמִ֗ין

ya·’ă·mîn,

does he come to a halt

כִּי־

kî-

ק֥וֹל

qō·wl

of the sound

. שׁוֹפָֽר׃

šō·w·p̄ār.

of a trumpet .

בְּדֵ֤י

bə·ḏê

At

､ שֹׁפָ֨ר ׀

šō·p̄ār

the [blast of] the trumpet ､

יֹ֘אמַ֤ר

yō·mar

– הֶאָ֗ח

he·’āḥ,

Aha –

､ וּֽ֭מֵרָחוֹק

ū·mê·rā·ḥō·wq

and from afar ､

יָרִ֣יחַ

yā·rî·aḥ

מִלְחָמָ֑ה

mil·ḥā·māh;

רַ֥עַם

ra·‘am

､ שָׂ֝רִים

rîm

of captains ､

. וּתְרוּעָֽה׃

ū·ṯə·rū·‘āh.

､ הֲ‍ֽ֭מִבִּינָ֣תְךָ

hămib·bî·nā·ṯə·ḵā

Does by your wisdom ､

יַֽאֲבֶר־

ya·’ă·ḇer-

נֵ֑ץ

nêṣ;

the hawk

יִפְרֹ֖שׂ

yip̄·rōś

[And] spread

[כנפו]

kə·nā·p̄ōw

(כְּנָפָ֣יו)

؟ לְתֵימָֽן׃

lə·ṯê·mān.

toward the south ؟

אִם־

עַל־

‘al-

at

､ פִּ֭יךָ

your command ､

יַגְבִּ֣יהַּ

yaḡ·bî·ah

and Does mount up

נָ֑שֶׁר

nā·šer;

וְ֝כִ֗י

wə·ḵî,

and

יָרִ֥ים

yā·rîm

؟ קִנּֽוֹ׃

qin·nōw.

､ סֶ֣לַע

se·la‘

On the rock ､

יִ֭שְׁכֹּן

yiš·kōn

וְיִתְלֹנָ֑ן

wə·yiṯ·lō·nān;

עַֽל־

‘al-

On

שֶׁן־

šen-

the crag of

､ סֶ֝֗לַע

se·la‘,

the rocks ､

. וּמְצוּדָֽה׃

ū·mə·ṣū·ḏāh.

and the stronghold .

מִשָּׁ֥ם

miš·šām

חָֽפַר־

ḥā·p̄ar-

､ אֹ֑כֶל

’ō·ḵel;

the food ､

לְ֝מֵרָח֗וֹק

lə·mê·rā·ḥō·wq,

עֵינָ֥יו

‘ê·nāw

. יַבִּֽיטוּ׃

yab·bî·ṭū.

[ואפרחו]

wə·’ep̄·rō·ḥōw

(וְאֶפְרֹחָ֥יו)

wə·’ep̄·rō·ḥāw

יְעַלְעוּ־

yə·‘al·‘ū-

– דָ֑ם

ḏām;

וּבַאֲשֶׁ֥ר

ū·ḇa·’ă·šer

חֲ֝לָלִ֗ים

ḥă·lā·lîm,

the slain [are]

שָׁ֣ם
