､ וַיְהִ֞י
way·hî
And it came to pass ､
כִּרְא֣וֹת
kir·’ō·wṯ
when saw [it]
מֶֽלֶךְ־
me·leḵ-
the king
הָעַ֗י
hā·‘ay,
of Ai
וַֽיְמַהֲר֡וּ
way·ma·hă·rū
､ וַיַּשְׁכִּ֡ימוּ
way·yaš·kî·mū
and rose early ､
וַיֵּצְא֣וּ
way·yê·ṣə·’ū
and went out
אַנְשֵֽׁי־
’an·šê-
the men
הָעִ֣יר
hā·‘îr
of the city
לִקְרַֽאת־
liq·raṯ-
יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל
yiś·rā·’êl
､ לַֽמִּלְחָמָ֞ה
lam·mil·ḥā·māh
to battle ､
ה֧וּא
hū
he
וְכָל־
wə·ḵāl
and all
､ עַמּ֛וֹ
‘am·mōw
､ לַמּוֹעֵ֖ד
lam·mō·w·‘êḏ
at an appointed place ､
לִפְנֵ֣י
lip̄·nê
– הָֽעֲרָבָ֑ה
hā·‘ă·rā·ḇāh;
the plain –
וְהוּא֙
wə·hū
but he
לֹ֣א
lō
not
יָדַ֔ע
yā·ḏa‘,
כִּֽי־
kî-
אֹרֵ֥ב
’ō·rêḇ
ל֖וֹ
lōw
מֵאַחֲרֵ֥י
mê·’a·ḥă·rê
. הָעִֽיר׃
hā·‘îr.
the city .
