וַיִּפְנ֣וּ
way·yip̄·nū
אַנְשֵׁי֩
’an·šê
the men
הָעַ֨י
hā·‘ay
of Ai
אַחֲרֵיהֶ֜ם
’a·ḥă·rê·hem
､ וַיִּרְא֗וּ
way·yir·’ū,
and they saw ､
､ וְהִנֵּ֨ה
wə·hin·nêh
and behold ､
עָלָ֜ה
‘ā·lāh
עֲשַׁ֤ן
‘ă·šan
the smoke
הָעִיר֙
hā·‘îr
of the city
､ הַשָּׁמַ֔יְמָה
haš·šā·may·māh,
to heaven ､
וְלֹא־
wə·lō-
so no
הָיָ֨ה
hā·yāh
בָהֶ֥ם
ḇā·hem
יָדַ֛יִם
yā·ḏa·yim
לָנ֖וּס
lā·nūs
to flee
הֵ֣נָּה
hên·nāh
– וָהֵ֑נָּה
wā·hên·nāh;
or that way –
וְהָעָם֙
wə·hā·‘ām
and the people
הַנָּ֣ס
han·nās
הַמִּדְבָּ֔ר
ham·miḏ·bār,
to the wilderness
נֶהְפַּ֖ךְ
neh·paḵ
אֶל־
’el-
on
. הָרוֹדֵֽף׃
hā·rō·w·ḏêp̄.
