by the hill

､ בְּיָדָ֑ם

into their hands ､

claim glory for itself

עָלַ֤י

‘ā·lay

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

､ לֵאמֹ֔ר

יָדִ֖י

הוֹשִׁ֥יעָה

and depart at once

מֵהַ֣ר

. הַגִּלְעָ֑ד

hag·gil·‘āḏ;

וַיָּ֣שָׁב

the people [are]

– רָב֒

rāḇ

[too] many –

הוֹרֵ֤ד

bring them down

אוֹתָם֙

’ō·w·ṯām

-

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ הַמַּ֔יִם

ham·ma·yim,

the water ､

וְאֶצְרְפֶ֥נּוּ

wə·’eṣ·rə·p̄en·nū

and I will test them

לְךָ֖

. שָׁ֑ם

､ וְהָיָ֡ה

And it will be ､

you shall set apart

אוֹתוֹ֙

– לְבָ֔ד

by himself –

and likewise everyone

אֲשֶׁר־

יִכְרַ֥ע

בִּרְכָּ֖יו

to drink .

וַיְהִ֗י

[putting] their hand

the rest

I will save

אֶתְכֶ֔ם

וְנָתַתִּ֥י

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

מִדְיָ֖ן

miḏ·yān

– בְּיָדֶ֑ךָ

bə·yā·ḏe·ḵā;

into your hand –

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

הָעָ֔ם

hā·‘ām,

the [other] people

יֵלְכ֖וּ

yê·lə·ḵū

let go

אִ֥ישׁ

. לִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃

וַיִּקְח֣וּ

אֶת־

their trumpets –

to his tent ､

וּבִשְׁלֹשׁ־

he·ḥĕ·zîq;

וּמַחֲנֵ֣ה

and the camp

to him

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

､ ק֖וּם

רֵ֣ד

– בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה

against the camp –

כִּ֥י

נְתַתִּ֖יו

nə·ṯat·tîw

I have delivered it

. בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃

into your hand .

וְאִם־

But if

יָרֵ֥א

אַתָּ֖ה

’at·tāh

､ לָרֶ֑דֶת

lā·re·ḏeṯ;

to go down ､

רֵ֥ד

אַתָּ֛ה

וּפֻרָ֥ה

נַעַרְךָ֖

na·‘ar·ḵā

אֶל־

to

､ הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

the camp ､

וְשָֽׁמַעְתָּ֙

wə·šā·ma‘·tā

and you shall hear

מַה־

mah-

– יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ

yə·ḏab·bê·rū,

וְאַחַר֙

wə·’a·ḥar

תֶּחֱזַ֣קְנָה

te·ḥĕ·zaq·nāh

shall be strengthened

יָדֶ֔יךָ

yā·ḏe·ḵā,

וְיָרַדְתָּ֖

wə·yā·raḏ·tā

and to go down

. בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה

bam·ma·ḥă·neh;

against the camp .

וַיֵּ֤רֶד

and with Purah

נַעֲר֔וֹ

Now the Midianites

וַעֲמָלֵ֤ק

וְכָל־

the sons

of the East

נֹפְלִ֣ים

nō·p̄ə·lîm

בָּעֵ֔מֶק

in the valley

כָּאַרְבֶּ֖ה

kā·’ar·beh

as numerous as locusts

– לָרֹ֑ב

lā·rōḇ;

as numerous –

וְלִגְמַלֵּיהֶם֙

wə·liḡ·mal·lê·hem

and their camels [were]

､ מִסְפָּ֔ר

mis·pār,

כַּח֛וֹל

as the sand

שֶׁעַל־

by

､ וַיָּבֹ֣א

And when had come ､

גִדְע֔וֹן

and there was ､

､ לְרֵעֵ֖הוּ

to his companion ､

חֲל֑וֹם

and He said ､

､ הִנֵּ֧ה

､ חֲל֣וֹם

a dream ､

חָלַ֗מְתִּי

ḥā·lam·tî,

､ וְהִנֵּ֨ה

and [To my] surprise ､

[צלול]

a loaf of

לֶ֤חֶם

שְׂעֹרִים֙

מִתְהַפֵּךְ֙

､ מִדְיָ֔ן

of Midian ､

וַיָּבֹ֣א

and it came

עַד־

a tent ､

וַיַּכֵּ֧הוּ

and struck it

､ וַיִּפֹּ֛ל

so that it fell ､

that he worshiped ､

and He returned

the camp

And he divided [into]

הָאִ֖ישׁ

the men

שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה

､ רָאשִׁ֑ים

וַיִּתֵּ֨ן

and he put

שׁוֹפָר֤וֹת

､ בְּיַד־

､ וְכַדִּ֣ים

and with pitchers ､

רֵקִ֔ים

וְלַפִּדִ֖ים

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

. הַכַּדִּֽים׃

hak·kad·dîm.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And he said

אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

’ă·lê·hem,

מִמֶּ֥נִּי

mim·men·nî

at me

תִרְא֖וּ

ṯir·’ū

. וְכֵ֣ן

wə·ḵên

תַּעֲשׂ֑וּ

ta·‘ă·śū;

Do

､ וְהִנֵּ֨ה

wə·hin·nêh

and when watch ､

אָנֹכִ֥י

בִּקְצֵ֣ה

to the edge

､ הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה

of the camp ､

וְהָיָ֥ה

כַאֲשֶׁר־

as

､ אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה

I do ､

And when I blow

וּתְקַעְתֶּ֨ם

[The sword of] Yahweh ､

the trumpets ､

וְנָפ֥וֹץ

wə·nā·p̄ō·wṣ

הַכַּדִּ֖ים

hak·kad·dîm

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

. בְּיָדָֽם׃

bə·yā·ḏām.

in their hands .

וַֽ֠יִּתְקְעוּ

way·yiṯ·qə·‘ū

And blew

שְׁלֹ֨שֶׁת

šə·lō·šeṯ

הָרָאשִׁ֥ים

hā·rā·šîm

､ בַּשּֽׁוֹפָרוֹת֮

the trumpets ､

וַיִּשְׁבְּר֣וּ

way·yiš·bə·rū

､ הַכַּדִּים֒

hak·kad·dîm

the pitchers ､

וַיַּחֲזִ֤יקוּ

way·ya·ḥă·zî·qū

､ בְיַד־

ḇə·yaḏ-

in hands ､

שְׂמאוֹלָם֙‪‬

śə·m·’ō·w·lām

בַּלַּפִּדִ֔ים

bal·lap·pi·ḏîm,

וּבְיַ֨ד־

ū·ḇə·yaḏ-

and in hands

יְמִינָ֔ם

yə·mî·nām,

הַשּׁוֹפָר֖וֹת

haš·šō·w·p̄ā·rō·wṯ

לִתְק֑וֹעַ

liṯ·qō·w·a‘;

､ וַֽיִּקְרְא֔וּ

way·yiq·rə·’ū,

and they cried ､

חֶ֥רֶב

､ לַֽיהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

. וּלְגִדְעֽוֹן׃

and of Gideon .

וַיַּֽעַמְדוּ֙
