The Heavens Declare the Glory of God

､ לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ

lam·naṣ·ṣê·aḥ,

To the Chief Musician ､

מִזְמ֥וֹר

miz·mō·wr

. לְדָוִֽד׃

lə·ḏā·wiḏ.

of David .

הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim,

מְֽסַפְּרִ֥ים

mə·sap·pə·rîm

כְּבֽוֹד־

kə·ḇō·wḏ-

– אֵ֑ל

’êl;

of God –

וּֽמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה

ū·ma·‘ă·śêh

and

יָ֝דָ֗יו

yā·ḏāw,

מַגִּ֥יד

mag·gîḏ

. הָרָקִֽיעַ׃

hā·rā·qî·a‘.

the firmament .

י֣וֹם

yō·wm

לְ֭יוֹם

lə·yō·wm

יַבִּ֣יעַֽ

yab·bî·a‘

､ אֹ֑מֶר

’ō·mer;

וְלַ֥יְלָה

wə·lay·lāh

לְּ֝לַ֗יְלָה

lə·lay·lāh,

יְחַוֶּה־

yə·ḥaw·weh-

. דָּֽעַת׃

dā·‘aṯ.

אֵֽין־

’ên-

[There is] no

אֹ֭מֶר

’ō·mer

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

and no

､ דְּבָרִ֑ים

də·ḇā·rîm;

בְּ֝לִ֗י

bə·lî,

not

נִשְׁמָ֥ע

niš·mā‘

[Where] is heard

. קוֹלָֽם׃

qō·w·lām.

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

､ הָאָ֨רֶץ ׀

hā·’ā·reṣ

the earth ､

יָ֘צָ֤א

yā·ṣā

קַוָּ֗ם

qaw·wām,

וּבִקְצֵ֣ה

ū·ḇiq·ṣêh

and to the end

. תֵ֭בֵל

ṯê·ḇêl

of the world .

מִלֵּיהֶ֑ם

mil·lê·hem;

､ לַ֝שֶּׁ֗מֶשׁ

laš·še·meš,

for the sun ､

שָֽׂם־

śām-

אֹ֥הֶל

’ō·hel

. בָּהֶֽם׃

bā·hem.

in them .

וְה֗וּא

wə·hū,

That [is]

כְּ֭חָתָן

kə·ḥā·ṯān

like a bridegroom

יֹצֵ֣א

yō·ṣê

､ מֵחֻפָּת֑וֹ

mê·ḥup·pā·ṯōw;

of his chamber ､

יָשִׂ֥ישׂ

yā·śîś

כְּ֝גִבּ֗וֹר

kə·ḡib·bō·wr,

like a strong man

לָר֥וּץ

lā·rūṣ

to run

. אֹֽרַח׃

’ō·raḥ.

מִקְצֵ֤ה

miq·ṣêh

､ הַשָּׁמַ֨יִם ׀

haš·šā·ma·yim

of heaven ､

מֽוֹצָא֗וֹ

mō·w·ṣā·’ōw,

Its rising [is]

וּתְקוּפָת֥וֹ

ū·ṯə·qū·p̄ā·ṯōw

and its circuit

עַל־

‘al-

to

קְצוֹתָ֑ם

qə·ṣō·w·ṯām;

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and there is nothing

נִ֝סְתָּ֗ר

nis·tār,

. מֵֽחַמָּתוֹ׃‪‬

mê·ḥam·mā·ṯōw

from its heat .

תּ֘וֹרַ֤ת

tō·w·raṯ

The law

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ תְּ֭מִימָה

tə·mî·māh

[is] perfect ､

מְשִׁ֣יבַת

mə·šî·ḇaṯ

– נָ֑פֶשׁ

nā·p̄eš;

the soul –

עֵד֥וּת

‘ê·ḏūṯ

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

､ נֶ֝אֱמָנָ֗ה

ne·’ĕ·mā·nāh,

[is] sure ､

מַחְכִּ֥ימַת

maḥ·kî·maṯ

. פֶּֽתִי׃

pe·ṯî.

the simple .

פִּקּ֘וּדֵ֤י

piq·qū·ḏê

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ יְ֭שָׁרִים

yə·šā·rîm

[are] right ､

מְשַׂמְּחֵי־

mə·śam·mə·ḥê-

– לֵ֑ב

lêḇ;

the heart –

מִצְוַ֥ת

miṣ·waṯ

the commandment

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

､ בָּ֝רָ֗ה

bā·rāh,

[is] pure ､

מְאִירַ֥ת

mə·’î·raṯ

. עֵינָֽיִם׃

‘ê·nā·yim.

the eyes .

יִרְאַ֤ת

yir·’aṯ

The fear

יְהוָ֨ה ׀

Yah·weh

､ טְהוֹרָה֮

ṭə·hō·w·rāh

[is] clean ､

עוֹמֶ֪דֶת

‘ō·w·me·ḏeṯ

– לָ֫עַ֥ד

lā·‘aḏ

מִֽשְׁפְּטֵי־

miš·pə·ṭê-

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

אֱמֶ֑ת

’ĕ·meṯ;

צָֽדְק֥וּ

ṣā·ḏə·qū

[and] righteous

. יַחְדָּֽו׃

yaḥ·dāw.

הַֽנֶּחֱמָדִ֗ים

han·ne·ḥĕ·mā·ḏîm,

More to be desired [are they]

､ מִ֭זָּהָב

miz·zā·hāḇ

– וּמִפַּ֣ז

ū·mip·paz

and Yea than fine gold –

רָ֑ב

rāḇ;

וּמְתוּקִ֥ים

ū·mə·ṯū·qîm

מִ֝דְּבַ֗שׁ

mid·də·ḇaš,

וְנֹ֣פֶת

wə·nō·p̄eṯ

and

. צוּפִֽים׃

ṣū·p̄îm.

the honeycomb .

גַּֽם־

gam-

עַ֭בְדְּךָ

‘aḇ·də·ḵā

– נִזְהָ֣ר

niz·hār

is warned –

בָּהֶ֑ם

bā·hem;

בְּ֝שָׁמְרָ֗ם

bə·šā·mə·rām,

[And] in keeping them

עֵ֣קֶב

‘ê·qeḇ

[there is] reward

. רָֽב׃

rāḇ.

؟ שְׁגִיא֥וֹת

šə·ḡî·’ō·wṯ

[his] errors ؟

מִֽי־

mî-

יָבִ֑ין

yā·ḇîn;

מִֽנִּסְתָּר֥וֹת

min·nis·tā·rō·wṯ

from secret [faults]

. נַקֵּֽנִי׃

naq·qê·nî.

גַּ֤ם

gam

מִזֵּדִ֨ים ׀

miz·zê·ḏîm

from presumptuous [sins]

חֲשֹׂ֬ךְ

ḥă·śōḵ

עַבְדֶּ֗ךָ

‘aḇ·de·ḵā,

אַֽל־

’al-

not

יִמְשְׁלוּ־

yim·šə·lū-

let them have dominion

בִ֣י

ḇî

אָ֣ז

’āz

､ אֵיתָ֑ם

’ê·ṯām;

I shall be blameless ､

וְ֝נִקֵּ֗יתִי

wə·niq·qê·ṯî,

and I shall be innocent

מִפֶּ֥שַֽׁע

mip·pe·ša‘

of transgression

. רָֽב׃

rāḇ.

יִֽהְי֥וּ

yih·yū

לְרָצ֨וֹן ׀

lə·rā·ṣō·wn

אִמְרֵי־

’im·rê-

､ פִ֡י

p̄î

of my mouth ､

וְהֶגְי֣וֹן

wə·heḡ·yō·wn

and the meditation

､ לִבִּ֣י

lib·bî

of my heart ､

､ לְפָנֶ֑יךָ

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā;

in Your sight ､

､ יְ֝הוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

､ צוּרִ֥י

ṣū·rî

my strength ､

. וְגֹאֲלִֽי׃

wə·ḡō·’ă·lî.

and my Redeemer .
