haz·zōṯ;

בְּי֤וֹם

on the day

הִֽצִּיל־

hiṣ·ṣîl-

יְהוָ֘ה

Yah·weh

אוֹת֥וֹ

’ō·w·ṯōw

מִכַּ֥ף

mik·kap̄

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

､ אֹ֝יְבָ֗יו

’ō·yə·ḇāw,

his enemies ､

וּמִיַּ֥ד

ū·mî·yaḏ

and from the hand

– שָׁאֽוּל׃

šā·’ūl.

of Saul –

､ וַיֹּאמַ֡ר

way·yō·mar

and he said ､

אֶרְחָמְךָ֖

’er·ḥā·mə·ḵā

I will love You

､ יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

. חִזְקִֽי׃

ḥiz·qî.

יְהוָ֤ה ׀

Yah·weh

､ סַֽלְעִ֥י

sal·‘î

my rock ､

､ וּמְצוּדָתִ֗י

ū·mə·ṣū·ḏā·ṯî,

and my fortress ､

– וּמְפַ֫לְטִ֥י

ū·mə·p̄al·ṭî

and my deliverer –

､ אֵלִ֣י

’ê·lî

My God ､

､ צ֭וּרִי

ṣū·rî

my strength ､

– אֶֽחֱסֶה־

’e·ḥĕ·seh-

I will trust –

בּ֑וֹ

bōw;

､ מָֽגִנִּ֥י

mā·ḡin·nî

My shield ､

וְקֶֽרֶן־

wə·qe·ren-

and the horn

､ יִ֝שְׁעִ֗י

yiš·‘î,

of my salvation ､

. מִשְׂגַּבִּֽי׃

miś·gab·bî.

my stronghold .

､ מְ֭הֻלָּל

mə·hul·lāl

[who is worthy] to be praised ､

אֶקְרָ֣א

’eq·rā

I will call

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

upon Yahweh ､

וּמִן־

ū·min-

אֹ֝יְבַ֗י

’ō·yə·ḇay,

. אִוָּשֵֽׁעַ׃

’iw·wā·šê·a‘.

shall I be saved .

אֲפָפ֥וּנִי

’ă·p̄ā·p̄ū·nî

חֶבְלֵי־

ḥeḇ·lê-

מָ֑וֶת

mā·weṯ;

וְֽנַחֲלֵ֖י

wə·na·ḥă·lê

and the floods

בְלִיַּ֣עַל

ḇə·lî·ya·‘al

. יְבַֽעֲתֽוּנִי׃

yə·ḇa·‘ă·ṯū·nî.

made me afraid .

חֶבְלֵ֣י

ḥeḇ·lê

שְׁא֣וֹל

šə·’ō·wl

– סְבָב֑וּנִי

sə·ḇā·ḇū·nî;

surrounded me –

קִ֝דְּמ֗וּנִי

qid·də·mū·nî,

מ֣וֹקְשֵׁי

mō·wq·šê

. מָֽוֶת׃

mā·weṯ.

of death .

בַּצַּר־

baṣ·ṣar-

לִ֤י ׀

lî

my

אֶֽקְרָ֣א

’eq·rā

､ יְהוָה֮

Yah·weh

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and to

– אֱלֹהַ֪י

’ĕ·lō·hay

my God –

אֲשַׁ֫וֵּ֥עַ

’ă·šaw·wê·a‘

יִשְׁמַ֣ע

yiš·ma‘

､ מֵהֵיכָל֣וֹ

mê·hê·ḵā·lōw

from His temple ､

קוֹלִ֑י

qō·w·lî;

וְ֝שַׁוְעָתִ֗י

wə·šaw·‘ā·ṯî,

and my cry

לְפָנָ֤יו ׀

lə·p̄ā·nāw

תָּב֬וֹא

tā·ḇō·w

. בְאָזְנָֽיו׃

ḇə·’ā·zə·nāw.

[even] to His ears .

וַתִּגְעַ֬שׁ

wat·tiḡ·‘aš

– וַתִּרְעַ֨שׁ ׀

wat·tir·‘aš

and trembled –

הָאָ֗רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

וּמוֹסְדֵ֣י

ū·mō·ws·ḏê

and the foundations

הָרִ֣ים

hā·rîm

of the hills

יִרְגָּ֑זוּ

yir·gā·zū;

､ וַ֝יִּתְגָּֽעֲשׁ֗וּ

way·yiṯ·gā·‘ă·šū,

and were shaken ､

כִּי־

kî-

חָ֥רָה

ḥā·rāh

. לֽוֹ׃

lōw.

He .

עָ֘לָ֤ה

‘ā·lāh

עָשָׁ֨ן ׀

‘ā·šān

､ בְּאַפּ֗וֹ

bə·’ap·pōw,

from His nostrils ､

וְאֵשׁ־

wə·’êš-

and fire

מִפִּ֥יו

mip·pîw

– תֹּאכֵ֑ל

tō·ḵêl;

גֶּ֝חָלִ֗ים

ge·ḥā·lîm,

בָּעֲר֥וּ

bā·‘ă·rū

. מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃

mim·men·nū.

by it .

וַיֵּ֣ט

way·yêṭ

And He bowed

שָׁ֭מַיִם

ma·yim

– וַיֵּרַ֑ד

way·yê·raḏ;

and came down –

וַ֝עֲרָפֶ֗ל

wa·‘ă·rā·p̄el,

and with darkness

תַּ֣חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

. רַגְלָֽיו׃

raḡ·lāw.

וַיִּרְכַּ֣ב

way·yir·kaḇ

And He rode

עַל־

‘al-

､ כְּ֭רוּב

kə·rūḇ

a cherub ､

– וַיָּעֹ֑ף

way·yā·‘ōp̄;

and flew –

וַ֝יֵּ֗דֶא

way·yê·ḏe,

and He flew

עַל־

‘al-

כַּנְפֵי־

kan·p̄ê-

. רֽוּחַ׃

rū·aḥ.

of the wind .

יָ֤שֶׁת

yā·šeṯ

חֹ֨שֶׁךְ ׀

ḥō·šeḵ

– סִתְר֗וֹ

siṯ·rōw,

His secret place –

סְבִֽיבוֹתָ֥יו

sə·ḇî·ḇō·w·ṯāw

סֻכָּת֑וֹ

suk·kā·ṯōw;

His canopy [was]

חֶשְׁכַת־

ḥeš·ḵaṯ-

מַ֝֗יִם

ma·yim,

עָבֵ֥י

‘ā·ḇê

[And] thick clouds

. שְׁחָקִֽים׃

šə·ḥā·qîm.

of the skies .

מִנֹּ֗גַהּ

min·nō·ḡah,

From the brightness

נֶ֫גְדּ֥וֹ

neḡ·dōw

עָבָ֥יו

‘ā·ḇāw

His thick clouds

､ עָבְר֑וּ

‘ā·ḇə·rū;

passed with ､

בָּ֝רָ֗ד

bā·rāḏ,

וְגַֽחֲלֵי־

wə·ḡa·ḥă·lê-

. אֵֽשׁ׃

’êš.

of fire .

וַיַּרְעֵ֬ם

way·yar·‘êm

､ בַּשָּׁמַ֨יִם ׀

baš·šā·ma·yim

from heaven ､

יְֽהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

וְ֭עֶלְיוֹן

wə·‘el·yō·wn

and the Most High

יִתֵּ֣ן

yit·tên

– קֹל֑וֹ

qō·lōw;

בָּ֝רָ֗ד

bā·rāḏ,

וְגַֽחֲלֵי־

wə·ḡa·ḥă·lê-

. אֵֽשׁ׃

’êš.

of fire .

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח

way·yiš·laḥ

And He sent out

､ חִ֭צָּיו

ḥiṣ·ṣāw

וַיְפִיצֵ֑ם

way·p̄î·ṣêm;

and scattered the foe

､ וּבְרָקִ֥ים

ū·ḇə·rā·qîm

and Lightnings ､

רָ֝ב

rāḇ

. וַיְהֻמֵּֽם׃

way·hum·mêm.

and He vanquished them .

､ וַיֵּ֤רָא֨וּ ׀

way·yê·rā·’ū

And were seen ､

אֲפִ֥יקֵי

’ă·p̄î·qê

מַ֗יִם

ma·yim,

of the sea

וַֽיִּגָּלוּ֮

way·yig·gā·lū

and were uncovered

מוֹסְד֪וֹת

mō·ws·ḏō·wṯ

the foundations

תֵּ֫בֵ֥ל

tê·ḇêl

of the world

､ מִגַּעֲרָ֣תְךָ֣

mig·ga·‘ă·rā·ṯə·ḵā

at Your rebuke ､

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

מִ֝נִּשְׁמַ֗ת

min·niš·maṯ,

at the blast

ר֣וּחַ

rū·aḥ

of the breath

. אַפֶּֽךָ׃

’ap·pe·ḵā.

of Your nostrils .

יִשְׁלַ֣ח

yiš·laḥ

､ מִ֭מָּרוֹם

mim·mā·rō·wm

יִקָּחֵ֑נִי

yiq·qā·ḥê·nî;

He took me

יַֽ֝מְשֵׁ֗נִי

yam·šê·nî,

He drew me

מִמַּ֥יִם

mim·ma·yim

. רַבִּֽים׃

rab·bîm.

יַצִּילֵ֗נִי

yaṣ·ṣî·lê·nî,

He delivered me

､ מֵאֹיְבִ֥י

mê·’ō·yə·ḇî

from my enemy ､

עָ֑ז

‘āz;

וּ֝מִשֹּׂנְאַ֗י

ū·miś·śō·nə·’ay,

and from those who hated me

כִּֽי־

kî-

אָמְצ֥וּ

’ā·mə·ṣū

they were too strong

､ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

mim·men·nî.

for me ､

יְקַדְּמ֥וּנִי

yə·qad·də·mū·nî

they confronted me

בְיוֹם־

ḇə·yō·wm-

in the day

､ אֵידִ֑י

’ê·ḏî;

of my calamity ､

וַֽיְהִי־

way·hî-

but was

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

לְמִשְׁעָ֣ן

lə·miš·‘ān

. לִֽי׃

lî.

to .

וַיּוֹצִיאֵ֥נִי

way·yō·w·ṣî·’ê·nî

And He brought me out

– לַמֶּרְחָ֑ב

lam·mer·ḥāḇ;

into a broad place –

יְ֝חַלְּצֵ֗נִי

yə·ḥal·lə·ṣê·nî,

He delivered me

כִּ֘י

kî

חָ֥פֵֽץ

ḥā·p̄êṣ

. בִּֽי׃

bî.

in me .

יִגְמְלֵ֣נִי

yiḡ·mə·lê·nî

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

– כְּצִדְקִ֑י

kə·ṣiḏ·qî;

according to my righteousness –

כְּבֹ֥ר

kə·ḇōr

According to the cleanness

יָ֝דַ֗י

yā·ḏay,

of my hands

יָשִׁ֥יב

yā·šîḇ

He has recompensed

. לִֽי׃

lî.

me .

כִּֽי־

kî·šā-

שָׁ֭מַרְתִּי

mar·tî

דַּרְכֵ֣י

dar·ḵê

the ways

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

of Yahweh ､

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and not

רָ֝שַׁ֗עְתִּי

rā·ša‘·tî,

have wickedly departed

. מֵאֱלֹהָֽי׃

mê·’ĕ·lō·hāy.

כִּ֣י

kî

כָל־

ḵāl

מִשְׁפָּטָ֣יו

miš·pā·ṭāw

His judgments [were]

לְנֶגְדִּ֑י

lə·neḡ·dî;

וְ֝חֻקֹּתָ֗יו

wə·ḥuq·qō·ṯāw,

and His statutes

לֹא־

lō-

not

אָסִ֥יר

’ā·sîr

. מֶֽנִּי׃

men·nî.

from me .

וָאֱהִ֣י

wā·’ĕ·hî

And I was

תָמִ֣ים

ṯā·mîm

עִמּ֑וֹ

‘im·mōw;

וָ֝אֶשְׁתַּמֵּ֗ר

wā·’eš·tam·mêr,

and I kept myself

. מֵעֲוֺנִֽי׃

mê·‘ă·wō·nî.

from my iniquity .

וַיָּֽשֶׁב־

way·yā·šeḇ-

Therefore has recompensed

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

לִ֣י

lî

me

､ כְצִדְקִ֑י

ḵə·ṣiḏ·qî;

according to my righteousness ､

כְּבֹ֥ר

kə·ḇōr

According to the cleanness

יָ֝דַ֗י

yā·ḏay,

of my hands

לְנֶ֣גֶד

lə·ne·ḡeḏ

in

. עֵינָֽיו׃

‘ê·nāw.

עִם־

‘im-

With

חָסִ֥יד

ḥā·sîḏ

– תִּתְחַסָּ֑ד

tiṯ·ḥas·sāḏ;

You will show Yourself merciful –

עִם־

‘im-

with

גְּבַ֥ר

gə·ḇar

תָּ֝מִ֗ים

tā·mîm,

– תִּתַּמָּֽם׃

tit·tam·mām.

You will show Yourself blameless –

עִם־

‘im-

with

נָבָ֥ר

nā·ḇār

the pure

– תִּתְבָּרָ֑ר

tiṯ·bā·rār;

You will show Yourself pure –

וְעִם־

wə·‘im-

and with

עִ֝קֵּ֗שׁ

‘iq·qêš,

. תִּתְפַּתָּֽל׃

tiṯ·pat·tāl.

You will show Yourself shrewd .

כִּֽי־

אַ֭תָּה

’at·tāh

You will

– עַם־

‘am-

the people –

עָנִ֣י

‘ā·nî

תוֹשִׁ֑יעַ

ṯō·wō·šî·a‘;

וְעֵינַ֖יִם

wə·‘ê·na·yim

רָמ֣וֹת

rā·mō·wṯ

. תַּשְׁפִּֽיל׃

taš·pîl.

will bring down .

כִּֽי־

kî-

אַ֭תָּה

’at·tāh

תָּאִ֣יר

tā·’îr

will light

– נֵרִ֑י

nê·rî;

my lamp –

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

אֱ֝לֹהַ֗י

’ĕ·lō·hay,

my God

יַגִּ֥יהַּ

yag·gî·ah

. חָשְׁכִּֽי׃

ḥā·šə·kî.

כִּֽי־

kî-

בְ֭ךָ

ḇə·ḵā

by You

אָרֻ֣ץ

’ā·ruṣ

I can run against

– גְּד֑וּד

gə·ḏūḏ;

a troop –

וּ֝בֵֽאלֹהַ֗י

ū·ḇê·lō·hay,

and by my God

אֲדַלֶּג־

’ă·ḏal·leḡ-

I can leap over

. שֽׁוּר׃

šūr.

a wall .

､ הָאֵל֮

hā·’êl

[As for] God ､

– תָּמִ֪ים

tā·mîm

דַּ֫רְכּ֥וֹ

dar·kōw

His way [is]

אִמְרַֽת־

’im·raṯ-

the word

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

– צְרוּפָ֑ה

ṣə·rū·p̄āh;

is proven –

מָגֵ֥ן

mā·ḡên

ה֝֗וּא

hū,

He [is]

לְכֹ֤ל ׀

lə·ḵōl

to all

הַחֹסִ֬ים

ha·ḥō·sîm

. בּֽוֹ׃

bōw.

in Him .

כִּ֤י

kî

מִ֣י

mî

who [is]

אֱ֭לוֹהַּ

’ĕ·lō·w·ah

מִבַּלְעֲדֵ֣י

mib·bal·‘ă·ḏê

؟ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וּמִ֥י

ū·mî

and who [is]

צ֝֗וּר

ṣūr,

זוּלָתִ֥י

zū·lā·ṯî

؟ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū.

הָ֭אֵל

hā·’êl

[it is] God

הַמְאַזְּרֵ֣נִי

ham·’az·zə·rê·nî

､ חָ֑יִל

ḥā·yil;

with strength ､

וַיִּתֵּ֖ן

way·yit·tên

תָּמִ֣ים

tā·mîm

. דַּרְכִּֽי׃

dar·kî.

my way .

מְשַׁוֶּ֣ה

mə·šaw·weh

רַ֭גְלַי

raḡ·lay

כָּאַיָּל֑וֹת

kā·’ay·yā·lō·wṯ;

like the [feet] of deer

וְעַ֥ל

wə·‘al

and on

בָּ֝מֹתַ֗י

bā·mō·ṯay,

. יַעֲמִידֵֽנִי׃

ya·‘ă·mî·ḏê·nî.

sets me .

מְלַמֵּ֣ד

mə·lam·mêḏ

יָ֭דַי

yā·ḏay

､ לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה

lam·mil·ḥā·māh;

to make war ､

וְֽנִחֲתָ֥ה

wə·ni·ḥă·ṯāh

so that can bend

קֶֽשֶׁת־

qe·šeṯ-

נְ֝חוּשָׁ֗ה

nə·ḥū·šāh,

. זְרוֹעֹתָֽי׃

zə·rō·w·‘ō·ṯāy.

my arms .

וַתִּתֶּן־

wat·tit·ten-

And You have given

לִי֮

lî

me

מָגֵ֪ן

mā·ḡên

､ יִ֫שְׁעֶ֥ךָ

yiš·‘e·ḵā

of Your salvation ､

וִֽימִינְךָ֥

wî·mî·nə·ḵā

Your right hand

､ תִסְעָדֵ֑נִי

ṯis·‘ā·ḏê·nî;

has held me up ､

וְֽעַנְוַתְךָ֥

wə·‘an·waṯ·ḵā

and Your gentleness

. תַרְבֵּֽנִי׃

ṯar·bê·nî.

has made me great .

תַּרְחִ֣יב

tar·ḥîḇ

צַעֲדִ֣י

ṣa·‘ă·ḏî

תַחְתָּ֑י

ṯaḥ·tāy;

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

so not

מָ֝עֲד֗וּ

mā·‘ă·ḏū,

. קַרְסֻלָּֽי׃

qar·sul·lāy.

my feet .

אֶרְדּ֣וֹף

’er·dō·wp̄

､ א֭וֹיְבַי

’ō·wy·ḇay

my enemies ､

וְאַשִּׂיגֵ֑ם

wə·’aś·śî·ḡêm;

and overtaken them

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

אָ֝שׁוּב‪‬

’ā·šūḇ

did I turn back again

עַד־

‘aḏ-

. כַּלּוֹתָֽם׃

kal·lō·w·ṯām.

they were destroyed .

אֶ֭מְחָצֵם

’em·ḥā·ṣêm

I have wounded them

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

so that not

יֻ֣כְלוּ

yuḵ·lū

– ק֑וּם

qūm;

rise –

יִ֝פְּל֗וּ

yip·pə·lū,

they have fallen

תַּ֣חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

. רַגְלָֽי׃

raḡ·lāy.

my feet .

וַתְּאַזְּרֵ֣נִי

wat·tə·’az·zə·rê·nî

For You have armed me

חַ֭יִל

ḥa·yil

– לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה

lam·mil·ḥā·māh;

for the battle –

תַּכְרִ֖יעַ

taḵ·rî·a‘

You have subdued

קָמַ֣י

qā·may

those who rose up against me

. תַּחְתָּֽי׃

taḥ·tāy.

under me .

– וְֽאֹיְבַ֗י

wə·’ō·yə·ḇay,

And my enemies –

נָתַ֣תָּה

nā·ṯat·tāh

לִּ֣י

lî

me

עֹ֑רֶף

‘ō·rep̄;

וּ֝מְשַׂנְאַ֗י

ū·mə·śan·’ay,

of so that those who hated me

. אַצְמִיתֵֽם׃

’aṣ·mî·ṯêm.

､ יְשַׁוְּע֥וּ

yə·šaw·wə·‘ū

They cried out ､

וְאֵין־

wə·’ên-

but [there was] none

מוֹשִׁ֑יעַ

mō·wō·šî·a‘;

עַל־

‘al-

[Even] to

､ יְ֝הוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

but not

. עָנָֽם׃

‘ā·nām.

He did answer them .

וְֽאֶשְׁחָקֵ֗ם

wə·’eš·ḥā·qêm,

And I beat them as fine

כְּעָפָ֥ר

kə·‘ā·p̄ār

as the dust

עַל־

‘al-

פְּנֵי־

pə·nê-

the face of

– ר֑וּחַ

rū·aḥ;

the wind –

כְּטִ֖יט

kə·ṭîṭ

חוּצ֣וֹת

ḥū·ṣō·wṯ

. אֲרִיקֵֽם׃

’ă·rî·qêm.

I cast them out .

תְּפַלְּטֵנִי֮

tə·p̄al·lə·ṭê·nî

You have delivered me

מֵרִ֪יבֵ֫י

mê·rî·ḇê

from the strivings

– עָ֥ם

‘ām

of the people –

תְּ֭שִׂימֵנִי

tə·śî·mê·nî

You have made me

לְרֹ֣אשׁ

lə·rōš

the head

– גּוֹיִ֑ם

gō·w·yim;

of the nations –

עַ֖ם

‘am

לֹא־

lō-

not

יָדַ֣עְתִּי

yā·ḏa‘·tî

. יַֽעַבְדֽוּנִי׃

ya·‘aḇ·ḏū·nî.

shall serve me .

לְשֵׁ֣מַֽע

lə·šê·ma‘

As soon as

אֹ֭זֶן

’ō·zen

they hear of me

יִשָּׁ֣מְעוּ

yiš·šā·mə·‘ū

לִ֑י

lî;

me

בְּנֵֽי־

bə·nê-

נֵ֝כָ֗ר

nê·ḵār,

יְכַחֲשׁוּ־

yə·ḵa·ḥă·šū-

. לִֽי׃

lî.

to me .

בְּנֵי־

bə·nê-

נֵכָ֥ר

nê·ḵār

､ יִבֹּ֑לוּ

yib·bō·lū;

וְ֝יַחְרְג֗וּ

wə·yaḥ·rə·ḡū,

and come frightened

. מִֽמִּסְגְּרֽוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

mim·mis·gə·rō·w·ṯê·hem.

from their hideouts .

– חַי־

ḥay-

יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

וּבָר֣וּךְ

ū·ḇā·rūḵ

and Blessed [be]

– צוּרִ֑י

ṣū·rî;

my Rock –

וְ֝יָר֗וּם

wə·yā·rūm,

and let be exalted

אֱלוֹהֵ֥י

’ĕ·lō·w·hê

the God

. יִשְׁעִֽי׃

yiš·‘î.

of my salvation .

הָאֵ֗ל

hā·’êl,

[it is] God

הַנּוֹתֵ֣ן

han·nō·w·ṯên

נְקָמ֣וֹת

nə·qā·mō·wṯ

לִ֑י

lî;

me

וַיַּדְבֵּ֖ר

way·yaḏ·bêr

עַמִּ֣ים

‘am·mîm

. תַּחְתָּֽי׃

taḥ·tāy.

under me .

מְפַלְּטִ֗י

mə·p̄al·lə·ṭî,

– מֵאֹ֫יְבָ֥י

mê·’ō·yə·ḇāy

from my enemies –

You lift me up

מֵאִ֥ישׁ

. תַּצִּילֵֽנִי׃

taṣ·ṣî·lê·nî.

You have delivered me .

I will give thanks to You

､ בַגּוֹיִ֥ם ׀

among the Gentiles ､

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וּלְשִׁמְךָ֥

and to Your name

. אֲזַמֵּֽרָה׃

to His anointed ､

､ לְדָוִ֥ד

lə·ḏā·wiḏ

to David ､

וּלְזַרְע֗וֹ

ū·lə·zar·‘ōw,

and His descendants

עַד־

‘aḏ-

. עוֹלָֽם׃

‘ō·w·lām.
