a Song at

חֲנֻכַּ֖ת

ḥă·nuk·kaṯ

הַבַּ֣יִת

hab·ba·yiṯ

of the house

. לְדָוִֽד׃

lə·ḏā·wiḏ.

of David .

אֲרוֹמִמְךָ֣

’ă·rō·w·mim·ḵā

I will extol You

– יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

כִּ֣י

kî

､ דִלִּיתָ֑נִי

ḏil·lî·ṯā·nî;

You have lifted me up ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and not

שִׂמַּ֖חְתָּ

śim·maḥ·tā

have let rejoice

אֹיְבַ֣י

’ō·yə·ḇay

. לִֽי׃

lî.

over me .

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהָ֑י

’ĕ·lō·hāy;

my God ､

שִׁוַּ֥עְתִּי

šiw·wa‘·tî

אֵ֝לֶ֗יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā,

to You

. וַתִּרְפָּאֵֽנִי׃

wat·tir·pā·’ê·nî.

and You healed me .

､ יְֽהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

הֶֽעֱלִ֣יתָ

he·‘ĕ·lî·ṯā

מִן־

min-

– שְׁא֣וֹל

šə·’ō·wl

the grave –

נַפְשִׁ֑י

nap̄·šî;

､ חִ֝יִּיתַ֗נִי

ḥî·yî·ṯa·nî,

You have kept me alive ､

[מיורדי־]

mî·yō·wr·ḏê-

-

(מִיָּֽרְדִי־)

mî·yā·rə·ḏî-

that I should not go down to

. (בֽוֹר׃)

ḇō·wr.

the pit .

זַמְּר֣וּ

zam·mə·rū

､ לַיהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

to Yahweh ､

חֲסִידָ֑יו

ḥă·sî·ḏāw;

You saints of His

וְ֝הוֹד֗וּ

wə·hō·w·ḏū,

and give thanks

לְזֵ֣כֶר

lə·zê·ḵer

at the remembrance

. קָדְשֽׁוֹ׃

qā·ḏə·šōw.

of His holy [name] .

כִּ֤י

kî

– רֶ֨גַע ׀

re·ḡa‘

a moment –

בְּאַפּוֹ֮

bə·’ap·pōw

His anger [is but for]

– חַיִּ֪ים

ḥay·yîm

[for] life –

בִּרְצ֫וֹנ֥וֹ

bir·ṣō·w·nōw

､ בָּ֭עֶרֶב

bā·‘e·reḇ

for a night ､

יָלִ֥ין

yā·lîn

בֶּ֗כִי

be·ḵî,

וְלַבֹּ֥קֶר

wə·lab·bō·qer

but in the morning

. רִנָּֽה׃

rin·nāh.

וַ֭אֲנִי

wa·’ă·nî

And I

､ אָמַ֣רְתִּי

’ā·mar·tî

said ､

בְשַׁלְוִ֑י

ḇə·šal·wî;

in my prosperity

בַּל־

bal-

אֶמּ֥וֹט

’em·mō·wṭ

I shall be moved

. לְעוֹלָֽם׃

lə·‘ō·w·lām.

､ יְֽהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

בִּרְצוֹנְךָ֮

bir·ṣō·wn·ḵā

הֶעֱמַ֪דְתָּה

he·‘ĕ·maḏ·tāh

You have made stand

לְֽהַרְרִ֫י

lə·har·rî

– עֹ֥ז

‘ōz

הִסְתַּ֥רְתָּ

his·tar·tā

､ פָנֶ֗יךָ

p̄ā·ne·ḵā,

הָיִ֥יתִי

hā·yî·ṯî

[and] I was

. נִבְהָֽל׃

niḇ·hāl.

אֵלֶ֣יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

To You

– יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

אֶקְרָ֑א

’eq·rā;

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and to

אֲ֝דֹנָ֗י

’ă·ḏō·nāy,

. אֶתְחַנָּֽן׃

’eṯ·ḥan·nān.

I made supplication .

מַה־

mah-

בֶּ֥צַע

be·ṣa‘

profit [is there]

､ בְּדָמִי֮

bə·ḏā·mî

in my blood ､

בְּרִדְתִּ֪י

bə·riḏ·tî

אֶ֫ל־

’el-

to

؟ שָׁ֥חַת

šā·ḥaṯ

the pit ؟

הֲיוֹדְךָ֥

hă·yō·wḏ·ḵā

will praise You

עָפָ֑ר

‘ā·p̄ār;

the dust

הֲיַגִּ֥יד

hă·yag·gîḏ

will it declare

؟ אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃

’ă·mit·te·ḵā.

､ שְׁמַע־

šə·ma‘-

Hear ､

､ יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

וְחָנֵּ֑נִי

wə·ḥān·nê·nî

and have mercy on me

､ יְ֝הוָה‪‬

Yah·weh

הֱ‍ֽיֵה־

hĕyêh-

be

עֹזֵ֥ר

‘ō·zêr

. לִֽי׃

lî.

my .

הָפַ֣כְתָּ

hā·p̄aḵ·tā

You have turned

מִסְפְּדִי֮

mis·pə·ḏî

– לְמָח֪וֹל

lə·mā·ḥō·wl

into dancing –

לִ֥י

lî

for me

פִּתַּ֥חְתָּ

pit·taḥ·tā

You have put off

､ שַׂקִּ֑י

śaq·qî;

my sackcloth ､

וַֽתְּאַזְּרֵ֥נִי

wat·tə·’az·zə·rê·nî

and clothed me

– שִׂמְחָֽה׃

śim·ḥāh.

with gladness –

לְמַ֤עַן ׀

lə·ma·‘an

to the end that

יְזַמֶּרְךָ֣

yə·zam·mer·ḵā

may sing praise to You

כָ֭בוֹד

ḵā·ḇō·wḏ

[my] glory

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and not

. יִדֹּ֑ם

yid·dōm;

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱ֝לֹהַ֗י

’ĕ·lō·hay,

my God ､

לְעוֹלָ֥ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām

. אוֹדֶֽךָּ׃

’ō·w·ḏe·kā.

I will give thanks to You .
