[my] neck .

טָבַ֤עְתִּי ׀

ṭā·ḇa‘·tî

､ בִּיוֵ֣ן

bî·wên

in mire ､

מְ֭צוּלָה

mə·ṣū·lāh

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

and where [there is] no

– מָעֳמָ֑ד

mā·‘o·māḏ;

בָּ֥אתִי

bā·ṯî

בְמַעֲמַקֵּי־

ḇə·ma·‘ă·maq·qê-

､ מַ֝֗יִם

ma·yim,

וְשִׁבֹּ֥לֶת

wə·šib·bō·leṯ

and where the floods

. שְׁטָפָֽתְנִי׃

šə·ṭā·p̄ā·ṯə·nî.

יָגַ֣עְתִּי

yā·ḡa‘·tî

I am weary

– בְקָרְאִי֮

ḇə·qā·rə·’î

with my crying –

– נִחַ֪ר

ni·ḥar

is dry –

גְּר֫וֹנִ֥י

gə·rō·w·nî

כָּל֥וּ

kā·lū

עֵינַ֑י

‘ê·nay;

מְ֝יַחֵ֗ל

mə·ya·ḥêl,

. לֵאלֹהָֽי׃

lê·lō·hāy.

for my God .

רַבּ֤וּ ׀

rab·bū

מִשַּׂעֲר֣וֹת

miś·śa·‘ă·rō·wṯ

– רֹאשִׁי֮

rō·šî

of my head –

שֹׂנְאַ֪י

śō·nə·’ay

Those who hate me

חִ֫נָּ֥ם

ḥin·nām

without a cause

､ עָצְמ֣וּ

‘ā·ṣə·mū

they are mighty ､

מַ֭צְמִיתַי

maṣ·mî·ṯay

who would destroy me

אֹיְבַ֣י

’ō·yə·ḇay

[Being] my enemies

､ שֶׁ֑קֶר

še·qer;

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

לֹא־

lō-

גָ֝זַ֗לְתִּי

ḡā·zal·tî,

אָ֣ז

’āz

. אָשִֽׁיב׃

’ā·šîḇ.

I must restore [it] .

､ אֱ‍ֽלֹהִ֗ים

’ĕlō·hîm,

God ､

אַתָּ֣ה

’at·tāh

יָ֭דַעְתָּ

yā·ḏa‘·tā

– לְאִוַּלְתִּ֑י

lə·’iw·wal·tî;

my foolishness –

וְ֝אַשְׁמוֹתַ֗י

wə·’aš·mō·w·ṯay,

and my sins

מִמְּךָ֥

mim·mə·ḵā

לֹא־

lō-

not

. נִכְחָֽדוּ׃

niḵ·ḥā·ḏū.

אַל־

’al-

Not

יֵ֘בֹ֤שׁוּ

yê·ḇō·šū

let be made ashamed

בִ֨י ׀

ḇî

by me

קֹוֶיךָ֮

qō·we·ḵā

those who wait for You

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

יְהוִ֗ה

Yah·weh

､ צְבָ֫א֥וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ

of hosts ､

אַל־

’al-

not

יִכָּ֣לְמוּ

yik·kā·lə·mū

let be confounded

בִ֣י

ḇî

מְבַקְשֶׁ֑יךָ

mə·ḇaq·še·ḵā;

those who seek You

אֱ֝לֹהֵ֗י

’ĕ·lō·hê,

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

כִּֽי־

kî-

עָ֭לֶיךָ

‘ā·le·ḵā

נָשָׂ֣אתִי

nā·śā·ṯî

– חֶרְפָּ֑ה

ḥer·pāh;

כִּסְּתָ֖ה

kis·sə·ṯāh

כְלִמָּ֣ה

ḵə·lim·māh

. פָנָֽי׃

p̄ā·nāy.

my face .

מ֭וּזָר

mū·zār

הָיִ֣יתִי

hā·yî·ṯî

､ לְאֶחָ֑י

lə·’e·ḥāy;

to my brothers ､

וְ֝נָכְרִ֗י

wə·nā·ḵə·rî,

and a sojourner

לִבְנֵ֥י

liḇ·nê

. אִמִּֽי׃

’im·mî.

of my mother .

כִּֽי־

kî-

קִנְאַ֣ת

qin·’aṯ

בֵּיתְךָ֣

bê·ṯə·ḵā

– אֲכָלָ֑תְנִי

’ă·ḵā·lā·ṯə·nî;

has eaten me up –

וְחֶרְפּ֥וֹת

wə·ḥer·pō·wṯ

and the reproaches

ח֝וֹרְפֶ֗יךָ

ḥō·wr·p̄e·ḵā,

of those who reproach You

נָפְל֥וּ

nā·p̄ə·lū

. עָלָֽי׃

‘ā·lāy.

on me .

､ וָאֶבְכֶּ֣ה

wā·’eḇ·keh

And when I wept [and chastened] ､

､ בַצּ֣וֹם

ḇaṣ·ṣō·wm

with fasting ､

נַפְשִׁ֑י

nap̄·šî;

וַתְּהִ֖י

wat·tə·hî

לַחֲרָפ֣וֹת

la·ḥă·rā·p̄ō·wṯ

. לִֽי׃

lî.

my .

וָאֶתְּנָ֣ה

wā·’et·tə·nāh

And I made

– לְבוּשִׁ֣י

lə·ḇū·šî

my garment –

שָׂ֑ק

śāq;

וָאֱהִ֖י

wā·’ĕ·hî

and I became

לָהֶ֣ם

lā·hem

. לְמָשָֽׁל׃

lə·mā·šāl.

יָשִׂ֣יחוּ

yā·śî·ḥū

בִ֭י

ḇî

יֹ֣שְׁבֵי

yō·šə·ḇê

שָׁ֑עַר

šā·‘ar;

in the gate

וּ֝נְגִינ֗וֹת

ū·nə·ḡî·nō·wṯ,

and I [am] the song

שׁוֹתֵ֥י

šō·w·ṯê

of

. שֵׁכָֽר׃

šê·ḵār.

the drunkards .

､ וַאֲנִ֤י

wa·’ă·nî

But [as for] me ､

תְפִלָּתִֽי־

ṯə·p̄il·lā·ṯî-

my prayer [is]

לְךָ֨ ׀

lə·ḵā

to You

､ יְהוָ֡ה

Yah·weh

– עֵ֤ת

‘êṯ

[in] the time –

רָצ֗וֹן

rā·ṣō·wn,

､ אֱלֹהִ֥ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

God ､

בְּרָב־

bə·rāḇ-

in the multitude

חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ

ḥas·de·ḵā;

עֲ֝נֵ֗נִי

‘ă·nê·nî,

בֶּאֱמֶ֥ת

be·’ĕ·meṯ

in the truth

. יִשְׁעֶֽךָ׃

yiš·‘e·ḵā.

of Your salvation .

הַצִּילֵ֣נִי

haṣ·ṣî·lê·nî

､ מִ֭טִּיט

miṭ·ṭîṭ

out of the mire ､

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

and not

– אֶטְבָּ֑עָה

’eṭ·bā·‘āh;

let me sink –

אִנָּצְלָ֥ה

’in·nā·ṣə·lāh

let me be delivered

מִ֝שֹּֽׂנְאַ֗י

miś·śō·nə·’ay,

from those who hate me

וּמִמַּֽעֲמַקֵּי־

ū·mim·ma·‘ă·maq·qê-

and out of deep

. מָֽיִם׃

mā·yim.

the waters .

אַל־

’al-

Not

תִּשְׁטְפֵ֤נִי ׀

tiš·ṭə·p̄ê·nî

let overflow me

שִׁבֹּ֣לֶת

šib·bō·leṯ

מַ֭יִם

ma·yim

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

､ תִּבְלָעֵ֣נִי

tiḇ·lā·‘ê·nî

let swallow me up ､

מְצוּלָ֑ה

mə·ṣū·lāh;

the deep

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

and not

תֶּאְטַר־

te’·ṭar-

עָלַ֖י

‘ā·lay

on me

בְּאֵ֣ר

bə·’êr

the pit

. פִּֽיהָ׃

pî·hā.

עֲנֵ֣נִי

‘ă·nê·nî

– יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

כִּי־

kî-

– ט֣וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

good –

חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ

ḥas·de·ḵā;

Your lovingkindness [is]

כְּרֹ֥ב

kə·rōḇ

according to the multitude

רַ֝חֲמֶ֗יךָ

ra·ḥă·me·ḵā,

of Your tender mercies

פְּנֵ֣ה

pə·nêh

. אֵלָֽי׃

’ê·lāy.

to me .

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

And not

תַּסְתֵּ֣ר

tas·têr

פָּ֭נֶיךָ

pā·ne·ḵā

– מֵֽעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ

mê·‘aḇ·de·ḵā;

from Your servant –

כִּֽי־

kî-

צַר־

ṣar-

לִ֝֗י

lî,

I am

מַהֵ֥ר

ma·hêr

. עֲנֵֽנִי׃

‘ă·nê·nî.

Hear me .

קָרְבָ֣ה

qā·rə·ḇāh

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ נַפְשִׁ֣י

nap̄·šî

my soul ､

גְאָלָ֑הּ

ḡə·’ā·lāh;

[and] redeem it

לְמַ֖עַן

lə·ma·‘an

אֹיְבַ֣י

’ō·yə·ḇay

. פְּדֵֽנִי׃

pə·ḏê·nî.

אַתָּ֤ה

’at·tāh

יָדַ֗עְתָּ

yā·ḏa‘·tā,

､ חֶרְפָּתִ֣י

ḥer·pā·ṯî

my reproach ､

､ וּ֭בָשְׁתִּי

ū·ḇā·šə·tî

and my shame ､

– וּכְלִמָּתִ֑י

ū·ḵə·lim·mā·ṯî;

and my dishonor –

נֶ֝גְדְּךָ֗

neḡ·də·ḵā,

כָּל־

kāl-

. צוֹרְרָֽי׃

ṣō·wr·rāy.

My adversaries [are] .

חֶרְפָּ֤ה ׀

ḥer·pāh

שָֽׁבְרָ֥ה

šā·ḇə·rāh

– לִבִּ֗י

lib·bî,

my heart –

. וָֽאָ֫נ֥וּשָׁה

wā·’ā·nū·šāh

and I am full of heaviness .

וָאֲקַוֶּ֣ה

wā·’ă·qaw·weh

And I looked [for someone]

､ לָנ֣וּד

lā·nūḏ

to take pity ､

– וָאַ֑יִן

wā·’a·yin;

but [there was] none –

､ וְ֝לַמְנַחֲמִ֗ים

wə·lam·na·ḥă·mîm,

and for comforters ､

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

but none

. מָצָֽאתִי׃

mā·ṣā·ṯî.

וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ

way·yit·tə·nū

And they gave me

– בְּבָרוּתִ֣י

bə·ḇā·rū·ṯî

for my food –

רֹ֑אשׁ

rōš;

וְ֝לִצְמָאִ֗י

wə·liṣ·mā·’î,

and for my thirst

יַשְׁק֥וּנִי

yaš·qū·nî

they gave me to drink

. חֹֽמֶץ׃

ḥō·meṣ.

יְהִֽי־

yə·hî-

שֻׁלְחָנָ֣ם

šul·ḥā·nām

לִפְנֵיהֶ֣ם

lip̄·nê·hem

לְפָ֑ח

lə·p̄āḥ;

､ וְלִשְׁלוֹמִ֥ים

wə·liš·lō·w·mîm

and their well-being ､

. לְמוֹקֵֽשׁ׃

lə·mō·w·qêš.

a trap .

､ תֶּחְשַׁ֣כְנָה

teḥ·šaḵ·nāh

Let be darkened ､

עֵ֭ינֵיהֶם

‘ê·nê·hem

– מֵרְא֑וֹת

mê·rə·’ō·wṯ;

so that they do not see –

וּ֝מָתְנֵ֗יהֶם

ū·mā·ṯə·nê·hem,

and make their loins

תָּמִ֥יד

tā·mîḏ

. הַמְעַֽד׃

ham·‘aḏ.

שְׁפָךְ־

šə·p̄āḵ-

עֲלֵיהֶ֥ם

‘ă·lê·hem

זַעְמֶ֑ךָ

za‘·me·ḵā;

Your indignation

וַחֲר֥וֹן

wa·ḥă·rō·wn

אַ֝פְּךָ֗

’ap·pə·ḵā,

. יַשִּׂיגֵֽם׃

yaś·śî·ḡêm.

let take hold of them .

תְּהִי־

tə·hî-

Let be

טִֽירָתָ֥ם

ṭî·rā·ṯām

their dwelling place

– נְשַׁמָּ֑ה

nə·šam·māh;

. בְּ֝אָהֳלֵיהֶ֗ם

bə·’ā·ho·lê·hem,

in their tents .

אַל־

’al-

יְהִ֥י

yə·hî

. יֹשֵֽׁב׃

yō·šêḇ.

כִּֽי־

kî-

אַתָּ֣ה

’at·tāh

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

the [ones]

– הִכִּ֣יתָ

hik·kî·ṯā

have struck –

רָדָ֑פוּ

rā·ḏā·p̄ū;

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and

מַכְא֖וֹב

maḵ·’ō·wḇ

of the grief

חֲלָלֶ֣יךָ

ḥă·lā·le·ḵā

of those You have wounded

. יְסַפֵּֽרוּ׃

yə·sap·pê·rū.

תְּֽנָה־

tə·nāh-

עָ֭וֺן

‘ā·wōn

עַל־

‘al-

to

､ עֲוֺנָ֑ם

‘ă·wō·nām;

their iniquity ､

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

and not

יָ֝בֹ֗אוּ

yā·ḇō·’ū,

. בְּצִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃

bə·ṣiḏ·qā·ṯe·ḵā.

into Your righteousness .

יִ֭מָּחֽוּ

yim·mā·ḥū

Let them be blotted

מִסֵּ֣פֶר

mis·sê·p̄er

out of the book

､ חַיִּ֑ים

ḥay·yîm;

of the living ､

וְעִ֥ם

wə·‘im

and with

צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים

ṣad·dî·qîm,

אַל־

’al-

not

. יִכָּתֵֽבוּ׃

yik·kā·ṯê·ḇū.

וַ֭אֲנִי

wa·’ă·nî

But I [am]

עָנִ֣י

‘ā·nî

– וְכוֹאֵ֑ב

wə·ḵō·w·’êḇ;

and sorrowful –

､ יְשׁוּעָתְךָ֖

yə·šū·‘ā·ṯə·ḵā

Your salvation ､

､ אֱלֹהִ֣ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

God ､

. תְּשַׂגְּבֵֽנִי׃

tə·śag·gə·ḇê·nî.

let set me up on high .

אֲהַֽלְלָ֣ה

’ă·hal·lāh

I will praise

שֵׁם־

šêm-

the name

אֱלֹהִ֣ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

of God

､ בְּשִׁ֑יר

bə·šîr;

with a song ､

וַאֲגַדְּלֶ֥נּוּ

wa·’ă·ḡad·də·len·nū

and will magnify Him

. בְתוֹדָֽה׃

ḇə·ṯō·w·ḏāh.

with thanksgiving .

וְתִיטַ֣ב

wə·ṯî·ṭaḇ

And [This] shall please

לַֽ֭יהוָה

Yah·weh

מִשּׁ֥וֹר

miš·šō·wr

better than an ox

פָּ֗ר

pār,

[or] bull

מַקְרִ֥ן

maq·rin

which has horns

. מַפְרִֽיס׃

map̄·rîs.

and hooves .

רָא֣וּ

rā·’ū

Shall see [this]

עֲנָוִ֣ים

‘ă·nā·wîm

– יִשְׂמָ֑חוּ

yiś·mā·ḥū;

[and] be glad –

דֹּרְשֵׁ֥י

dō·rə·šê

אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm,

וִיחִ֥י

wî·ḥî

. לְבַבְכֶֽם׃

lə·ḇaḇ·ḵem.

כִּֽי־

kî-

שֹׁמֵ֣עַ

šō·mê·a‘

אֶל־

’el-

､ אֶבְיוֹנִ֣ים

’eḇ·yō·w·nîm

the poor ､

יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

אֲ֝סִירָ֗יו

’ă·sî·rāw,

לֹ֣א

lō

not

. בָזָֽה׃

ḇā·zāh.

יְֽ֭הַלְלוּהוּ

yə·hal·lū·hū

שָׁמַ֣יִם

šā·ma·yim

וָאָ֑רֶץ

wā·’ā·reṣ;

､ יַ֝מִּ֗ים

yam·mîm,

the seas ､

וְֽכָל־

wə·ḵāl

רֹמֵ֥שׂ

rō·mêś

. בָּֽם׃

bām.

in them .

כִּ֤י

kî

אֱלֹהִ֨ים ׀

’ĕ·lō·hîm

י֘וֹשִׁ֤יעַ

yō·wō·šî·a‘

will save

､ צִיּ֗וֹן

ṣî·yō·wn,

Zion ､

וְ֭יִבְנֶה

wə·yiḇ·neh

עָרֵ֣י

‘ā·rê

､ יְהוּדָ֑ה

yə·hū·ḏāh;

of Judah ､

וְיָ֥שְׁבוּ

wə·yā·šə·ḇū

that they may dwell

､ שָׁ֝֗ם

m

. וִירֵשֽׁוּהָ׃

wî·rê·šū·hā.

and possess it .

וְזֶ֣רַע

wə·ze·ra‘

And the descendants

עֲ֭בָדָיו

‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw

of His servants

יִנְחָל֑וּהָ

yin·ḥā·lū·hā;

shall inherit it

וְאֹהֲבֵ֥י

wə·’ō·hă·ḇê

and those who love

שְׁ֝מ֗וֹ

mōw,

יִשְׁכְּנוּ־

yiš·kə·nū-

. בָֽהּ׃

ḇāh.

in it .
