John 3:1-15 - A Meeting With Nicodemus

And there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou hast come as a teacher from God; for no one can do these signs which thou doest, unless God be with him.

Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus saith to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mothers womb a second time, and be born?

Jesus answered, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. 6 That which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said to thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it will; and thou hearest the sound thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be?

Jesus answered and said to him, Art thou the teacher of Israel, and understandest not these things? 11 Truly, truly do I say to thee, We speak that which we know, and testify that which we have seen; and ye receive not our testimony. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how will ye believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 And no one hath ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, even the Son of man. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up 15 that every one who believeth in him may have everlasting life.
