Matthew 21:12-17 - The Cleansing Of The Temple

Matthew 21:12-17

12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all those who sold and bought in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of those who sold the doves; 13 and said to them, It is written, "My house shall be called a house of prayer; but ye make it a den of robbers."

14 And the blind and lame came to him in the temple, and he cured them. 15 But the chief priests and the scribes, when they saw the wonderful things which he did, and the children that were crying out in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, were much displeased; 16 and said to him, Dost thou hear what these say? But Jesus saith to them, Yea; did ye never read, "From the mouth of babes and sucklings thou didst prepare praise"?

17 And he left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

Mark 11:15-19

15 And they come to Jerusalem. And he went into the temple, and began to cast out those who sold and bought in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of those who sold the doves; 16 and he suffered no one to carry any vessel through the temple.

17 And he taught, and said to them, Is it not written, "My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations? but ye have made it a den of robbers." 18 And the chief priests and the scribes heard it, and sought how they might destroy him; for they feared him; because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching.

19 And when it became late, he went out of the city.

Luke 19:45-48

45 And entering the temple, he began to cast out those who sold, 46 saying to them, It is written, "And my house shall be a house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of robbers."

47 And he was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests, and the scribes, and the leading men of the people sought to destroy him. 48 And they could not find an opportunity of doing any thing; for all the people hung upon him, listening.

John 2:14-22

14 And he found in the temple those who sold oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the moneychangers sitting. 15 And having made a scourge of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and poured out the money of the exchangers, and overthrew the tables; 16 and said to those who sold the doves, Take these things hence; make not my Fathers house a house of merchandise.

17 His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for thy house will consume me."

18 The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign dost thou show us, seeing thou doest these things?

19 Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

20 Then said the Jews, Fortysix years was this temple in building; and wilt thou raise it up in three days?

21 But he spoke of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he had risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had spoken.
