John 3:1-15 - A Meeting With Nicodemus
Now there was a man of the Pharisees, whose name was Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night, and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that Thou hast come, as a Teacher, from God; for no one can do the signs which Thou art doing, unless God be with Him."
Jesus answered, and said to him, "Verily, verily, I say to you, unless one be born anew, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
Nicodemus says to Him, "How can a man he born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and he born?"
Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say to you, unless one be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. 6 That which has been born of the flesh is flesh: and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said to you, ye must be born anew. 8 The Spirit breatheth where He willeth; and you hear His voice, but know not whence He cometh, or whither He goeth: so is every one who has been born of the Spirit."
Nicodemus answered, and said to Him, "How can these things be?"
Jesus answered, and said to him, "Are you a teacher of Israel, and understand not these things? 11 Verily, verily, I say to you, We speak that which We know, and testify to that which We have seen; and ye receive not Our testimony. 12 If I told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how will ye believe, if I tell you Heavenly things? 13 And no one has ascended into Heaven, but He Who descended out of Heaven??he Son of Man [Who is in Heaven]. 14 And, as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15 that every one who believes in Him may have eternal life.
