John 4:27-38 - The Disciples And The Harvest

And upon this came His disciples: and they were wondering that He was talking with a woman; yet no one said, "What seekest Thou?" or, "Why talkest Thou with her?"

The woman, therefore, left her waterjar, and went away into the city, and says to the men, 29 "Come, see a Man Who told me all things that I ever did: can This be the Christ?" 30 They went forth out of the city, and were coming to Him.

In the meantime the disciples were entreating Him, saying, "Rabbi, eat."

But He said to them, "I have food to eat that ye know not of."

The disciples, therefore, said to one another, "Has any one brought Him anything to eat?"

Jesus saith to them, "My food is to do the will of Him Who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Say not ye, 'There are yet four months, and the harvest is coming?' Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and view the fields, because they are white for harvest. 36 He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal; that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this is the saying true, 'One sows, and another reaps.' 38 I sent you to reap that on which ye bestowed no labor; others have labored, and ye entered into their labor."
