Matthew 21:12-17 - The Cleansing Of The Temple

Matthew 21:12-17

12 And Jesus entered into the temple, and cast out all those selling and buying in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of those selling the doves. 13 And He saith to them, "It has been written, 'My house, shall be called a house of prayer; but ye are making it a den of robbers!'"

14 And the blind and lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. 15 And the high-priests and scribes, seeing the wonderful things which He did, and the boys who were crying in the temple, and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" were much displeased, 16 and said to Him, "Dost Thou hear what these are saying?" And Jesus saith to them, "Yes; did ye never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou didst perfect praise!'"

17 And, leaving them, He went forth out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

Mark 11:15-19

15 And they come to Jerusalem. And, entering into the temple, He began to cast out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of those who sold doves; 16 and He was not permitting that any one should carry a vessel through the temple.

17 And He was teaching, and said to them, "Has it not been written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations;' but ye have made it a den of robbers!" 18 And the high priests and scribes heard it, and were seeking how they might destroy Him; for they were fearing Him, for all the multitude was astonished at His teaching.

19 And, whenever it became late, they went forth out of the city.

Luke 19:45-48

45 And, having entered into the temple, He began to cast out those who sold; 46 saying to them, "It has been written, 'And My house shall be a house of prayer;' but ye made it a den of robbers."

47 And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the high priests and the scribes and the chief men of the people were seeking to destroy Him; 48 and they were not finding anything they could do; for the people were all hanging upon Him, listening.

John 2:14-22

14 And He found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting. 15 And, having made a scourge of cords, He drove all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; 16 and to those selling doves, He said, "Take these things hence! make not My Father's house a house of merchandise!"

17 His disciples remembered that it had been written, "Zeal for Thy house will eat Me up,"

18 The Jews, therefore, answered and said to Him, "What sign dost Thou show to us, seeing that Thou doest these things?

19 Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."

20 The Jews, therefore, said, "In forty-six years this temple was built, and wilt Thou raise it up in three days?"

21 But He was speaking about the temple of His body. 22 When, therefore, He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this; and they believed the Scripture, and the word that Jesus spake.
