Ephesians 4:17-24 - Appeal For New Behavior

Ephesians 4:17-24

17 This, therefore, I say, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their hearts; 19 who, indeed, having become without feeling, delivered themselves up to lasciviousness for the working of all uncleanness with greediness.

20 But ye did not so learn Christ; 21 if, indeed, ye heard Him, and were taught in Him, as truth is in Jesus; 22 that ye put off, as to your former manner of life, the old man, who is corrupt according to the desires of deceit; 23 and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new man, who after God was created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Colossians 3:12-17

12 Put on, therefore, as God's elect, holy and beloved, tender affections of compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering; 13 (bearing with one another, and freely forgiving one another, if any one have a complaint against any; even as the Lord freely forgave you, so also do ye): 14 and over all these put on love, which is the uniting-bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, unto which also ye were called in one body; and become thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts, to God. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
