Matthew 22:41-46 - David's Son And Lord

⁴¹ While the Pharisees were together, Jesus asked them a question, ⁴² saying: What think you of the Christ? whose son is he? They said to him: The son of David.

⁴³ He said to them: How then does David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

⁴⁴ The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand till I make thy enemies thy footstool.

⁴⁵ If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son? ⁴⁶ And no one was able to answer him a word; nor did any one, from that day, dare to ask him another question.

³⁵ And Jesus, as he was teaching in the temple, answered and said: How say the scribes that the Christ is the son of David? ³⁶ For David himself said by the Holy Spirit: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make thy enemies thy footstool.

³⁷ David himself, then, calls him Lord; and how is he his son? And the great multitude heard him with pleasure.

⁴¹ But he said to them: How say they that the Christ is the son of David? ⁴² Even David himself says, in the book of Psalms: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, ⁴³ till I make thy enemies thy footstool.

⁴⁴ David, therefore, calls him Lord; and how is he his son?
