2 Timothy 1:8-18 - Exhortation To Share Paul's Suffering

⁸ Be not ashamed therefore of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but endure affliction with us in the gospel according to the power of God,

⁹ who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his purpose and grace given us in Christ Jesus from eternity, ¹⁰ but made known now through the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who destroyed death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,

¹¹ of which I was made a herald, and an apostle, and a teacher of the nations; ¹² for which cause I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed; for I know in whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep my trust to that day.

¹³ Retain the form of sound words which you heard from me in faith and the love in Christ Jesus. ¹⁴ Guard the good trust, through the Holy Spirit which dwells in us. ¹⁵ You know this, that all those in Asia left me, of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. ¹⁶ May the Lord show mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chains, ¹⁷ but being at Rome he sought most diligently, and found me. ¹⁸ The Lord grant him to find mercy with the Lord in that day. And what services he performed at Ephesus, you know very well.
