Luke 23:1-5 - Jesus Brought Before Pilate
And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse him saying, "We have found this fellow, perverting the people and forbidding to pay tribute to Caesar: and saying that he is Christ, a King."
And Pilate opposed him, saying, "Art thou the King of the Jews?" He answered him, and said, "Thou sayest it."
Then said Pilate to the high priests, and to the people, "I find no fault in this man."
And they were the more fierce, saying, "He moveth the people, teaching throughout Jewry, and began at Galilee, even to this place."
Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas into the hall of judgment. It was in the morning, and they themselves went not into the judgment hall lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the paschal lamb.
Pilate then went out unto them and said, "What accusation bring ye against this man?"
They answered, and said unto him, "If he were not an evil doer, we would not have delivered him unto thee."
Then said Pilate unto them, "Take ye him unto you, and judge him after your own law." Then the Jews said unto him, "It is not lawful for us to put any man to death." 32 That the words of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.
