John 12:27-36 - Jesus Predicts His Death

John 12:27-36

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour? But for this purpose came I to this hour. 28 Father, glorify thy name. Then there came a voice from heaven: I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.

29 Then the multitude that stood by and heard it, said: It thundered. Others said: An angel spoke to him.

30 Jesus answered and said: This voice came not for my sake, but for yours. 31 Now is the judgment of this world: now is the prince of this world cast out. 32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself. 33 This he said, signifying what death he was about to die.

34 The multitude answered him: We have heard out of the law, that the Christ remains forever: and how say you that the Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?

35 Then Jesus said to them: Yet a little while is the light with you: walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you. For he that walks in the darkness knows not whither he goes. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become the sons of light. These things spoke Jesus, and he departed, and concealed himself from them.

John 8:21-30

21 Then spoke Jesus to them again; I go away, and you will seek me, and in your sin you shall die; whither I go, you can not come.

22 Then said the Jews: Will he kill himself, because he says, Whither I go, you can not come?

23 And he said to them: You are from beneath, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. 24 Therefore said I to you, that you shall die in your sins. For if you believe not that I am, He, you shall die in your sins.

25 Then they said to him: Who are you? And Jesus said to them: The same that I said to you at the beginning. 26 I have many things to say, and to judge with respect to you; but he that sent me is true; and what things I have heard from him, these I speak to the world.

27 They knew not that he was speaking to them of the Father. 28 Then said Jesus to them: When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of myself, but as the Father has taught me I speak these things. 29 And he that sent me is with me. The Father has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him.

30 While he was speaking these words, many believed on him.
