Luke 9:18-20 - Peter's Confession

¹⁸ And it came to pass, as he was praying in a retired place, that his disciples were with him; and he asked them, saying: "Who do the multitudes say that I am?

¹⁹ They answered and said: John the Immerser; but some, Elijah; and others, that some prophet of ancient times has risen again.

²⁰ He said to them: But who do you say that I am? Peter answered and said: The Christ of God.

⁶⁶ After this, many of his disciples went back, and walked with him no more. ⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve: Will you also go away?

⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him: Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life; ⁶⁹ and we believe, and know that thou art the Christ, the Son of God.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them: Have I not chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? ⁷¹ He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon; for he was about to deliver him up, being one of the twelve.
