John 12:27-36 - Jesus Predicts His Death

John 12:27-36

27 "Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say, 'Father deliver me from this hour?' But therefore came I unto this hour. 28 Father, glorify thy name." Then came there a voice from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again."

29 Then said the people that stood by and heard, "It thundereth." Others said, "An angel spake to him."

30 Jesus answered and said, "This voice came not because of me: but for your sakes. 31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out a doors. 32 And I, if I were lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." 33 This said Jesus signifying what death he should die.

34 The people answered him, "We have heard out of the law that Christ bideth ever: and how sayest thou then that the son of man must be lifted up? Who is that son of man?"

35 Then Jesus said unto them, "Yet a little while is the light with you: walk while ye have light, lest the darkness come on you. He that walketh in the dark, knoweth not whither he goeth. 36 While ye have light, believe on the light that ye may be the children of light." These things spake Jesus, and departed, and hid himself from them.

John 8:21-30

21 Then said Jesus again unto them, "I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins. Whither I go thither can ye not come."

22 Then said the Jews, "Will he kill himself? Because he saith, 'Whither I go, thither can ye not come?'"

23 And he said unto them, "Ye are from beneath, I am from above. Ye are of this world, I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins. For except ye believe that I am he, ye shall die in your sins."

25 Then said they unto him, "Who art thou?" And Jesus said unto them, "Even the very same thing that I say unto you. 26 I have many things to say, and to judge of you. But he that sent me is true. And I speak in the world, those things which I have heard of him."

27 Howbeit, they understood not that he spake of his father. 28 Then said Jesus unto them, "When ye have lift up on high the son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; But as my father hath taught me, even so I speak. 29 And he that sent me is with me. The father hath not left me alone; For I do always those things that please him."

30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
