John 13:1-20 - Jesus Washes His Disciples' Feet

Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing his hour was come to pass out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, loved them to the end.

And while they were at supper (the devil having now put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, 3 to betray him) Jesus knowing the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come forth from God, and going to God, 4 Riseth from supper, and layeth aside his garments, and taking a towel, girded himself. 5 After that, he poured water into the bason, and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe them with the towel, wherewith he was girded.

Then cometh he to Simon Peter, who saith to him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

Jesus answered and said to him, What I do, thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Simon Peter saith to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

Jesus saith to him, He who hath been bathed, needeth only to wash his feet, and is clean all over: and ye are clean; but not all. 11 For he knew who would betray him: therefore he said, Ye are not all clean.

So after he had washed their feet, he took his garments, and sitting down again, said to them, Know ye what I have done to you? 13 Ye call me Master and Lord; and ye say well; for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet, ye ought also to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that ye also may do as I have done to you.

Verily, verily I say unto you, the servant is not greater than his Lord, neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. 17 If ye know these things, happy are ye, if ye do them. I speak not of you all: 18 I know whom I have chosen, that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lift up his heel against me.

Now I tell you before it is done, that, when it is done, ye may believe that I am he. 20 Verily, verily I say unto you, he that receiveth whomsoever I send, receiveth me, and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.
