1 John 2:1-11 - Keeping The New Commandment

1 My little children, these things I write to you, that ye may not sin. And, if any one sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous. 2 And He is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.

3 And in this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I have known Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whosoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God has been perfected: in this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says that he is abiding in Him ought himself also to walk even as He walked.

7 Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but and old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye heard. 8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.

9 He who says that he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now. 10 He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him. 11 But he that hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and knows not where he is going, because the darkness blinded his eyes.
