And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and He went, according to His custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.
And, after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, "Brethren, if there is among you any word of exhortation for the people, speak."

And He said to them, "Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he and those who were with him? How he entered into the house of God during the high priesthood of Abiathar, and ate the show-bread, which it is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?"
And Jesus, answering, said to them, "Did ye never read this that David did, when he was hungry, and those with him; how he entered into the house of God, and taking the showbread, ate, and gave to those with him; which it is not lawful to eat, except for the priests only?"
And He, answering, said, "Did you not read that He Who made them from the beginning made them 'male and female,'
and said to Him, "Dost Thou hear what these are saying?" And Jesus saith to them, "Yes; did ye never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou didst perfect praise!'"
Did ye never read the Scripture, "The stone which the builders rejected, the same became the head of a corner; this was from the Lord, and is marvelous in our eyes?"
And He, looking upon them, said, "What, then, is this that has been written? 'A stone which the builders rejected, the same became a head of the corner.'
"But concerning the resurrection of the dead, did ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
"When, therefore, ye see the abomination of the desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (let him that reads understand),
But when ye see the abomination of desolation standing where it ought not, (let him that reads understand), then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains;
And, when the letter may be read among you, cause that it be read also in the assembly of the Laodiceans, and that ye also read the one from Laodicea.
And, having read it, they rejoiced at the consolation.
I adjure you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the brethren.
Every Scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;
Now they have known that all things whatsoever Thou gavest Me are from Thee;
Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things, and enter into His glory?" And, beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, He thoroughly interpreted to them, in all the Scriptures, the things concerning Himself.
respecting which ye can, by reading, perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ,
but these have been written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that, believing, ye may have life in His name.
and that, from a babe, you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith that is in Christ Jesus.
Happy is he that reads, and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things written therein; for the time is near.

Wherefore, beloved, since ye are looking for these things, give diligence that ye be found in peace, without spot and blameless in His sight. And account the long-suffering of our Lord salvation; as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you; as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
