Mark 2:13-17 - Levi Called To Follow Jesus

¹³ And he went out again by the sea: and all the multitude came to him, and he taught them. ¹⁴ And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphoeus sitting at the custom-house; and he said to him: Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

¹⁵ And it came to pass, as Jesus reclined at table in his house, that many publicans and sinners reclined with him and his disciples; for there were many, and they followed him. ¹⁶ And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eating with publicans and sinners, they said to his disciples: Why is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners?

¹⁷ And when Jesus heard it, he said to them: Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call righteous men, but sinners.

²⁷ And after these tilings, he went out and saw a publican named Levi, sitting at the custom-house; and he said to him: Follow me. ²⁸ And leaving all, he arose and followed him.

²⁹ And Levi made him a great feast at his own house; and there was a great multitude of publicans and others, who reclined at table with them. ³⁰ And their scribes and the Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying: Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

³¹ And Jesus answered arid said to them: They that are well have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. ³² I have not come to call righteous men, but sinners, to repentance.
