Mark 2:13-17 - Levi Called To Follow Jesus

Mark 2:13-17

13 And he went out again by the sea: and all the multitude came to him, and he taught them. 14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphoeus sitting at the custom-house; and he said to him: Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

15 And it came to pass, as Jesus reclined at table in his house, that many publicans and sinners reclined with him and his disciples; for there were many, and they followed him. 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eating with publicans and sinners, they said to his disciples: Why is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners?

17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them: Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call righteous men, but sinners.

Luke 5:27-32

27 And after these tilings, he went out and saw a publican named Levi, sitting at the custom-house; and he said to him: Follow me. 28 And leaving all, he arose and followed him.

29 And Levi made him a great feast at his own house; and there was a great multitude of publicans and others, who reclined at table with them. 30 And their scribes and the Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying: Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

31 And Jesus answered arid said to them: They that are well have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. 32 I have not come to call righteous men, but sinners, to repentance.
