Mark 2:13-17 - Levi Called To Follow Jesus

Mark 2:13-17

13 And he went forth again to the sea side; and all the people came unto him; and he taught them. 14 And passing by, he saw Levi the son of Alpheus sitting at the custom-house, and he saith to him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him

15 And it came to pass, as he sat at table in his house, many publicans also, and sinners, sat down with Jesus and his disciples; for they were numerous, and they followed him. 16 And the scribes and the Pharisees seeing him eat with publicans and sinners, said to his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

17 And when Jesus heard it, he said unto them, They who are in strong health have no need of a physician, but they who have illness: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 5:27-32

27 And after these things he went out, and saw a farmer of the taxes, named Levi, sitting at the custom-house: and he said unto him, Follow me. 28 And leaving all behind, he rose, and followed him.

29 And Levi made him a great entertainment at his house and there was a great number of publicans and others, sitting at table with them. 30 And their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They who are well, have no need of a physician: but they who have illness. 32 I came not to call righteous men, but sinners, to repentance.
