¹⁸ Then Moses said: Please show me your glory!

¹⁹ Jehovah said: I will make all my goodness pass in front of you. I will call out my name, JEHOVAH. I will be kind to anyone I want to. I will be merciful to anyone I want to. ²⁰ But he said: You cannot see my face, because no one may see me and live. ²¹ Then Jehovah said: Look, there is a place near me. Stand by this rocky cliff. ²² When my glory passes by, I will put you in a crevice in the cliff and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. ²³ Then I will take my hand away, and you will see my back, but my face must not be seen.
