1 Timothy 1:12-17 - Paul's Thankfulness For The Mercy Shown To Him

¹² And I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord, who gave me ability for the work, that He accounted me faithful, having put me into the ministry, ¹³ who before was a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and an oppressor. But I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief: and the grace of our Lord superabounded, ¹⁴ with faith and love in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ It is a truth highly to be believed, and worthy to be received by all, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners:---of whom I am one of the chief. ¹⁶ But for this end I obtained mercy, that in me a chief sinner Jesus Christ might display his long-suffering, for an example to those who should afterwards believe on Him to eternal life. ¹⁷ Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
