Matthew 17:24-27 - Paying The Double Drachma Temple Tax
24 And they having come into Capernaum, those receiving the double drachma came to Peter, and said, Does your teacher pay the double drachma?
25 He says, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, What seems to you, Simon? from whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? from their own sons or aliens?
26 And he saying from aliens, Jesus said to him, Then the sons are free. 27 But in order that we may not offend them, going to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the first fish coming up; and opening its mouth, you will find a stater: having received it, give it to them for me and thee.
