Acts 2:1-13 - Pentecost And The Coming Of The Holy Spirit

¹ And, when the day of Pentecost was being fulfilled they were all together in one place; ² and suddenly there came out of Heaven a sound, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. ³ And there appeared to them tongues, as of fire, distributed among them; and it sat upon each one of them. ⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, even as the Spirit was giving them to declare.

⁵ Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven; ⁶ and, when this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were greatly surprised, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. ⁷ And they were amazed, and wondered, saying, "Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galilaeans? ⁸ And how do we hear, each in our own language in which we were born; ⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judaea, and also Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Lybia about Cyrene, and sojourners from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans, and Arabians??e hear them speaking in our own languages the wonderful works of God?" ¹² And they were all amazed, and perplexed, saying one to another, "What does this mean?" ¹³ And others, mocking, said, "They have been filled with new wine!"
