Matthew 26:69-75 - Peter Denies Jesus Three Times

Matthew 26:69-75

69 But Peter was sitting without in the court; and a maid servant came to him, and said: You also were with Jesus of Galilee.

70 But he denied before them all, saying: I know not what you say.

71 And when he went out into the entrance, an other maid-servant saw him, and said to those who were there: This man was also with Jesus the Nazarene.

72 And again he denied, with an oath: I know not the man.

73 After a little while, those who stood by came and said to Peter: Of a truth you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you.

74 Then he began to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. 75 And Peter remembered the word which. Jesus had spoken to him: Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Mark 14:66-72

66 And while Peter was in the court below, one of the maid servants of the chief priest came; 67 and when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said: You also were with Jesus the Nazarene.

68 But he denied, saying: I neither know, nor understand what you say. And he went out into the entrance, and the cock crew.

69 And the maid-servant saw him again, and began to say to those who stood by: This man is one of them.

70 He again denied. And again, after a little while, those who stood by said to Peter: Surely, you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech is like theirs.

71 But he began to curse and to swear, saying: I know not this man of whom you speak.

72 And immediately the cock crew the second time. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken to him: Before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times. And when he thought upon it, he wept.
