Matthew 16:13-20 - Peter's Confession At Caesarea Philippi

¹³ And Jesus having come into the regions of Caesarea Philippi, asked His disciples, saying, Whom do the people say that I, the Son of man, am?

¹⁴ And they said, Some, John the Baptist; and some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.

¹⁵ And He says to them, But whom do you say that I am?

¹⁶ And Simon Peter responding said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

¹⁷ And Jesus responding said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon the son of Jonah: because flesh and blood did not reveal it to thee, but my Father who is in the heavens. ¹⁸ And I say to thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock will I build my Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. ¹⁹ And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of the heavens: and whatsoever you may bind on the earth, shall be bound in the heavens; and whatsoever you may loose on earth shall be loosed in the heavens.

²⁰ Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He is the Christ.

²⁷ And Jesus and His disciples went away into the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way He asked His disciples, saying to them, Whom do the people say that I am?

²⁸ And they answered Him saying, John the Baptist: and others, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.

²⁹ And He asked them, Whom do you say that I am? And Peter responding says to Him, Thou art the Christ.

³⁰ And He charged them that they should speak to no one concerning Him.
