Matthew 10:1-15 - The Twelve Commissioned And Sent Out

Matthew 10:1-15

1 And he called to him his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, so that they might cast them out, and care every disease and every infirmity. 2 Now these are the names of the twelve apostles: the first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphseus, and Lebbceus, who was surnamed Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also delivered him up.

5 These twelve Jesus sent forth after he had charged them, saying: Go not into the road that leads to the Gentiles, and enter not a city of the Samaritans. 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as you go, preach, saying: The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Cure the sick, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9 Provide for yourselves neither gold, nor silver, nor brass, to put into your purses, 10 nor bag for your journey, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor staffs: for the laborer is worthy of his support.

11 Whatever city or village you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there make your home till you go away. 12 When you go into a house, salute it: 13 and if the house be worthy, your peace shall come upon it; but if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you. 14 And whoever will not receive you, nor hear your words, when you go out of that house or that city, shake off the dust from your feet. 15 Verily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah, in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Mark 6:7-13

7 And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them out, two and two, and gave them authority over unclean spirits. 8 And he commanded them to take nothing for their journey, but a staff only; no bag, no bread, no money in their purses; 9 but to be shod with sandals, and not to put on two coats. 10 And he said to them: Wherever you enter a house, there make your home till you depart from that place. 11 And whoever will not receive you, nor hear you, when you go out from that place, shake off the dust under your feet, for a testimony against them. Verily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom or Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

12 And they went out and preached that men should repent; 13 and they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and cured them.

Luke 9:1-6

1 And he called his twelve disciples to him, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure dis eases: 2 and he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

3 And he said to them: Take nothing for your journey, neither staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; nor have two coats each. 4 And whatever house you enter, there remain, and thence depart. 5 And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off even the dust from your feet, for a testimony against them. 6 And they departed, and went through every village, preaching the gospel, and per forming cures everywhere.
