Luke 9:18-20 - Peter's Confession

¹⁸ Now it happened that while he was praying by himself his disciples were beside him. So he inquired of them, "Who do the crowds say I am?"

¹⁹ They replied, "John the Baptist, though some say Elijah and some say that one of the ancient prophets has arisen."

²⁰ He said to them, "And who do you say I am?" Peter replied, "The Christ of God."

⁶⁶ After that, many of his disciples drew back and would not associate with him any longer. ⁶⁷ So Jesus said to the twelve, "You do not want to go, too?"

⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, who are we to go to? You have got words of eternal life, ⁶⁹ and we believe, we are certain, that you are the holy One of God."

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil!" ⁷¹ (He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot; for Judas was to betray him ??and he was one of the twelve.)
