John 18:33-40 - Pilate Questions Jesus
Pilate therefore went into the palace again, and called Jesus, and said to him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
Jesus answered, Dost thou say this of thyself, or did others tell thee concerning me?
Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thy own nation and the chief priests delivered thee up to me. What hast thou done?
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have fought, that I should not be delivered up to the Jews; but now is my kingdom not from hence.
Pilate therefore said to him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest what is true; for I am a king. For this end have I been born, and for this cause have I come into the world, that I may bear witness to the truth. Every one that is of the truth listeneth to my voice.
Pilate saith to him, What is truth? And having said this, he went out again to the Jews, and saith to them, I find nothing criminal in him. 39 But ye have a custom that I should release to you one at the passover: do ye desire, therefore, that I release to you the king of the Jews?
Then they cried out again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
