Matthew 4:12-17 - Public Ministry In Galilee

Matthew 4:12-17

12 Now [when he] heard that John {had been arrested}, he withdrew into Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth, he went [and] lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 in order that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled, who said,

15 "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, {toward the sea}, on the other side of the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles-- 16 the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, and the ones who sit in the land and shadow of death, a light has dawned on them."

17 From that time [on], Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, because the kingdom of heaven is near."

Mark 1:14-15

14 And after John {had been taken into custody}, Jesus went into Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God 15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe in the gospel!"

Luke 4:14-15

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news about him went out throughout all the surrounding region. 15 And he began to teach in their synagogues, [and] was praised by all.
