1 Peter 3:13-22 - Suffer For Doing What Is Good

13 And who is he that shall harm you, if ye are followers of that which is good? 14 But if ye even suffer for righteousness sake, happy are ye. And be not afraid at their terrors, nor alarmed; 15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. And be ready always to give an answer to every one that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, but with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that, wherein ye are evil spoken of, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conduct in Christ. 17 For it is better, if it be the will of God, that ye suffer for welldoing, than for evildoing.

18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous one for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

19 in which also he went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20 who were disobedient in times past, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was preparing, wherein a few, that is, eight souls, were saved by water; 21 which in its antitype, baptism, is now saving you,not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the earnest seeking for a good conscience toward God,by the resurrection of Jesus Christ; 22 who is on the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
