Matthew 21:12-17 - The Cleansing Of The Temple

Matthew 21:12-17

12 And Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all those that sold and bought in the temple and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those that sold doves 13 and said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. 15 But when the princes of the priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did and the children crying out in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were sore displeased 16 and said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus said unto them, Yes; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of children and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

17 And he left them and went out of the city into Bethany, and he lodged there.

Mark 11:15-19

15 And they come to Jerusalem, and Jesus, entering into the temple, began to cast out those that sold and bought in the temple and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those that sold doves 16 and would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

17 And he taught them, saying, Is it not written that my house shall be called house of prayer by all the nations? but ye have made it a den of thieves. 18 And the scribes and the princes of the priests heard it and sought how they might kill him, for they feared him because all the multitude was astonished at his doctrine.

19 But when evening was come, Jesus went out of the city.

Luke 19:45-48

45 And he went into the temple and began to cast out those selling and buying therein, 46 saying unto them, It is written, My house is a house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves.

47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the princes of the priests and the scribes and the principals of the people sought to kill him 48 and could not find what they might do, for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

John 2:14-22

14 and found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated; 15 and when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers' money and overthrew the tables 16 and said unto those that sold the doves, Take these things away from here; do not make my Father's house a house of merchandise.

17 Then his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house has consumed me.

18 Then the Jews answered and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Dissolve this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

20 Then said the Jews, This temple was forty-six years in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days?

21 But he spoke of the temple of his body. 22 Therefore when he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had said.
