Matthew 21:12-17 - The Cleansing Of The Temple

Matthew 21:12-17

12 And Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, It is written, "My house shall be called the house of prayer"; but you have made it a den of thieves.

14 And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. 15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things which He did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were angry. 16 And they said to Him, Do you hear what these say? And Jesus said to them, Yes, have you never read, "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You have perfected praise?"

17 And leaving them, He went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.

Mark 11:15-19

15 And they came to Jerusalem. And entering into the temple, Jesus began to cast out those who bought and sold in the temple. And He overthrew the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 16 And He would not allow any to carry a vessel through the temple.

17 And He taught, saying to them, Is it not written, "My house shall be called the house of prayer for all nations?" But you have made it a den of thieves. 18 And the scribes and the chief priests heard. And they sought how they might destroy Him. For they feared Him, because all the people were astonished at His doctrine.

19 And when evening came, He went out of the city.

Luke 19:45-48

45 And entering into the temple, He began to cast out those selling and buying in it, 46 saying to them, It is written, "My house is a house of prayer," but you have made it a den of thieves.

47 And He taught in the temple daily. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy Him. 48 And they could not find what they might do, for all the people were hanging on Him, listening.

John 2:14-22

14 And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting. 15 And when He had made a scourge of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, also the sheep and the oxen. And He poured out the money-changers' money and overthrew the tables. 16 And He said to those who sold doves, Take these things away from here. Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise.

17 And His disciples remembered that it was written, "The zeal of Your house has eaten Me up."

18 Then the Jews answered and said to Him, What sign do you show us, since you do these things?

19 Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.

20 Then the Jews said, This temple was forty-six years building, and will you rear it up in three days?

21 But He spoke of the temple of His body. 22 Therefore when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them, and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.
