Matthew 28:11-15 - The Guards Report The Body Stolen

¹¹ While they were on their way, some of the sentries went into the city and reported all that had taken place to the high priests, ¹² who, after meeting and conferring with the elders, gave a considerable sum of money to the soldiers ¹³ and told them to say that "his disciples came at night and stole him when we were asleep." ¹⁴ "If this comes to the ears of the governor," they added, "we will satisfy him and see that you have no trouble about the matter." ¹⁵ So the soldiers took the money and followed their instructions; and this story has been disseminated among the Jews down to the present day.
