Matthew 23:37-39 - The Lament Over Jerusalem

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who have been sent to her. How often I wanted to gathered thy children together the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and ye would not. ³⁸ Behold, your house is left to you desolate. ³⁹ For I say to you, ye will, no, not see me henceforth, until ye say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of Lord.

³¹ In the same day some Pharisees came, saying to him, Get thee out and depart from here, because Herod wants to kill thee.

³² And he said to them, Having gone, say to this fox, Behold, I cast out demons and finish cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I am fully perfected. ³³ Nevertheless it is necessary for me to go today and tomorrow and the following, because it is not possible for a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem.
